Gu Yunting had already arrived outside the Gu residence. Seeing Ye Wan's call, the originally stern line of his lips curved slightly as he answered, "Hello?"
He gestured for the driver to stop. The car halted about five hundred meters from the Gu residence.
"Are you... very busy lately? When... will you be home?"
"Is something wrong?" Gu Yunting looked up at the brightly lit villa in the distance, his eyes holding a faint warmth.
"Um... Grandma Sun was asking if, with the New Year approaching, we should buy some couplets to put up?" Ye Wan fumbled for an excuse, feeling awkward. She didn't want to admit it, but she couldn't lie to herself anymore; she missed him.
Gu Yunting listened to her hesitant voice, the curve of his lips widening. "You miss me?"
"No way! I just wanted to ask you about this. You... come back if you want, don't if you don't! I'm hanging up, I'm sleepy, going to bed." Ye Wan felt too embarrassed. After speaking, she quickly hung up the phone.
Gu Yunting listened to the dial tone in his phone and called her again. Ye Wan picked up. "Is there something else?"
"If you miss me, I'll go back. If you don't miss me, I won't," Gu Yunting said deliberately, wanting to see what she would say.
"I don't miss you. You should continue to accompany Miss Yan!"
Knowing he was with other women, she truly couldn't bring herself to say she missed him.
But upon hearing her words, Gu Yunting's mood became even more cheerful, he even forgot his own injuries.
"So... you're jealous." Gu Yunting chuckled softly.
Hearing this, Ye Wan's eyes widened abruptly. Just as she was about to retort, Gu Yunting hung up this time. Ye Wan wanted to explain that she wasn't jealous, that she couldn't possibly be jealous... but no one answered the phone.
Ye Wan held her phone, frozen. Was she really jealous?
Alright, she admitted she was a little jealous.
But so what? She was his lawful wife now. If he was seen out and about with other women, wasn't she allowed to be jealous?
Ye Wan put down her phone huffily, thinking about his sordid affairs with other women. The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt.
Gu Yunting returned silently. He ordered the driver to turn off the car lights and walked upstairs with light steps. He reached the bedroom door and reached out to push it open.
Ye Wan was sitting with her back to the door. Feeling a bit down due to the recent conversation, she thought it was Grandma Sun when she heard the door open and said irritably, "Grandma Sun, I want to be alone for a while. We can talk about it tomorrow."
'Grandma Sun' didn't leave but continued to walk further in. Ye Wan turned around abruptly. When she saw the person who had just said he wouldn't come back suddenly appear before her, Ye Wan's eyes widened, and tears actually fell.
Seeing her cry, Gu Yunting's heart softened instantly. He sat down and hugged her. "Why are you crying?"
Ye Wan quickly looked up to wipe her tears and denied, "I'm not crying, you scared me."
"Am I that scary? Enough to make you cry?" Gu Yunting looked at the stubborn little woman and playfully bit her ear as a punishment.
Held in his arms, Ye Wan's restless heart seemed to have found its harbor and settled down. She pursed her lips tightly, her fingers unconsciously gripping his clothes.
"Gu Yunting... do you... like me?" Ye Wan finally couldn't help but ask. She tilted her small face slightly, her eyes red-rimmed, and her nose tip also a little red. She looked so pitiful, as if she had suffered immense injustice.
