All those engaged in battle turned their gaze towards the source of the explosion.
"A massive explosion?!" Wendy’s eyes widened in shock.
"That direction has been making earth-shattering noises more than once. What on earth is going on over there?" Carla asked, her face filled with confusion.
Nancy’s expression turned serious. "If I remember correctly, that’s where Master Makarov is."
"And Finn went that way too. They must be fighting someone."
Natsu and Zancrow, facing each other, simultaneously ceased their fighting and looked towards the source of the explosion.
"Hahahaha, that’s Master Hades!" Zancrow exclaimed, sensing the familiar magical signature.
"I’m surprised someone could fight Master Hades for so long, but victory will undoubtedly belong to Master Hades!"
Zancrow lowered his voice, his tone becoming almost reverent.
"Because Master Hades is an omnipotent god!"
"Hades?" Natsu wiped the blood from his mouth, a confident smile spreading across his face.
"So what if it’s Hades? Finn and Gramps are over there!"
"Hades doesn’t stand a chance against Finn’s flames!"
Zancrow frowned upon hearing Natsu’s confident words.
"Finn, huh?" he murmured under his breath.
Then, his face twisted into a maniacal grin.
"Finn, the so-called Sun God? Hahahaha!" He spread his arms wide, his eyes burning with an almost unhinged intensity.
"To be honest, what I truly desire is to fight that guy."
"He’s the Sun God wielding flames, and I’m the God Slayer wielding flames. By all rights, it should be me who defeats him!"
Zancrow shook his head dismissively. "But it seems I will have to settle for you Dragon Slayers first, hehe..."
"It doesn’t matter. Master Hades will take care of that guy anyway. I’ll just have to make do with killing you Dragon Slayers to sate my bloodlust!"
"Someone like you wouldn’t even last a single move against Finn!" Nancy retorted, her voice dripping with disdain.
"Yeah! Finn’s super strong! He’ll definitely defeat Hades!" Wendy chimed in, echoing Nancy’s sentiment.
Their words immediately drew Zancrow’s ire.
His crimson eyes narrowed as he fixed his gaze upon Wendy and her companions. "You all shut your mouths and wait patiently! I’ll deal with this one first, then it’s your turn. Hehehehe!"
"You! Stop talking big and try doing something!"
Natsu, enraged by Zancrow’s blatant arrogance, roared in defiance.
Flames erupted from his hands.
"The flames of my left and right hands, become one!" Natsu began to merge the flames from both hands.
Seeing this, Zancrow mirrored his actions, assuming a similar stance.
As Zancrow prepared his attack, the black flames surrounding him contracted, converging upon his outstretched hands.
"From the westernmost end to the easternmost end, burn everything to ash! God’s Breath!"
"Fire Dragon’s..."
"Flame God’s..."
Two immense concentrations of flames gathered in their hands.
Sensing the sheer power of the impending collision, Wendy and her companions scrambled to take cover.
"Crimson Lotus: Exploding Flame Blade!!"
"Kagutsuchi!!"
The crimson flames of Natsu and the black flames of Zancrow collided, the impact sending shockwaves through the air.
The two mages were locked in a desperate stalemate.
...
Meanwhile, on the coast of Tenrou Island, the landscape was obscured by a dense cloud of dust and debris.
To shield the severely injured Makarov from the force of the explosion, Finn stood resolutely before him, creating a protective barrier of flames.
The raging aftereffects of the explosion gradually subsided. Makarov slowly raised his head, surveying the surrounding devastation.
Unsettled ash and dust swirled through the air, but through the haze, he could make out Finn’s silhouette.
He stood with his sword planted in the ground, the tip angled downwards.
The flames licking along the blade were swayed by the gentle breeze, creating long, flickering trails of fire.
"Finn... what about Hades...?" Makarov called out weakly from behind.
Finn sheathed Ryujin Jakka and turned to face Makarov, shaking his head.
"That guy got away. He must have used the explosion as cover to reach the airship and escape," Finn explained, his voice tinged with regret.
"Ah... I’m sorry," Makarov sighed, his voice filled with remorse.
Finn frowned. "What are you saying, Gramps?"
"What are you apologizing for?"
"If it weren’t for this old body getting in the way, you might have been able to defeat Hades," Makarov said softly, his voice laced with self-reproach.
Finn shook his head dismissively. "Gramps, what are you talking about? If we didn’t get Hades this time, there’s always next time."
A smile spread across Finn’s face. "And if something were to happen to you, who would take the blame for us at the Council?"
Hearing Finn’s warped logic, Makarov, who had been feeling guilty, widened his eyes in disbelief.
"You little rascal, so I’m just your scapegoat?"
"Uh... I guess I let that slip..." Finn said sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.
"Never mind that. Let’s get you back to camp, and then we can have Wendy heal you up." Finn hoisted Makarov onto his back and began to walk towards the gathering point.
High above Tenrou Island, within the endless expanse of the clouds, a magic airship was rapidly ascending, eventually coming to a gentle halt amidst the swirling vapor.
Inside the airship, Hades limped into the main chamber, wearily plopping down on the steps beneath the ornate throne.
"Huff... huff..." Hades gasped for breath, his gaze falling upon the figure that entered the room.
The figure was powerfully built, his hands concealed within the depths of a long coat. A single braid extended from his hair, reaching all the way down to his waist. His eyes were cold and devoid of emotion as he stared at Hades.
"I never expected you to get beaten up like this, old man," the figure said, his voice tinged with a hint of surprise.
Hades’ face contorted with fury at the man’s words.
"That brat, Finn!" he spat through gritted teeth.
Ultimately, however, Hades simply sighed. "I never expected Makarov to have raised such a monster! I underestimated him!"
"Oh... a monster, you say?" the man murmured, his voice barely audible.
"Can he fly?"
The seemingly nonsensical question hung in the air.
Hades, of course, understood that the man was not asking about literal flight.
A wry smile touched his lips. "Perhaps he can!"
"In that case, I shall take action." With those words, the man turned and left the room.
Hades watched the man’s retreating back, his thoughts drifting back to the past.
His mind involuntarily conjured up the image of a cute, blonde-haired girl.
"I’m sorry, Mavis... things have become incredibly chaotic."
"With the arrival of Bluenote, there is no one among Makarov’s children, save for that monster Finn, who can hope to stand against him."
"The wheels of destiny have begun to turn, and driven by these young ones, they are spiraling out of control!"
Hades’ murmured words echoed through the empty chamber, a somber testament to the unfolding events on Tenrou Island.
Meanwhile, back on the island, as Zancrow intensified his magic power, Natsu’s flames were instantly suppressed. In the next moment, the black flames exploded directly in front of Natsu, sending him flying backwards.
"Impossible!" Happy exclaimed, his eyes widening in utter disbelief.
"Hahaha, nothing is impossible! The Flame God’s flames are far superior to those of a Dragon!"
