We left behind the Angel since we finally had something to work with again. The towers are still here so it would probably be best to take them out before the world gets worse.
Hunters might already be heading for the towers so there's no telling what might happen within them. How many people might die and how many will become even more of a monster.
But the wall out of the dungeon was pretty quiet for the most part since no one really understands what happened.
Luckily the sun was out though. Walking the streets shouldn't be too bad to travel right now, at least until we get closer to one of the cities. Hunters should be patrolling but it wouldn't be surprising if they weren't.
Then again, we already have a badge to show that we are also hunters so it shouldn't be an issue.
"That asshole really thinks he's better than us." Akina mumbles under her breath.
"Can we really trust what he told us, Rokuro?" Ghost asks with worry in her voice.
"Yes. He has no reason to lie to us since he can beat us without any problems." I respond with a calm tone.
"I guess that's true." Ghost accepts what I said as she follows behind me.
The group talked amongst themselves as we traveled the road for awhile, keeping an eye out for a tower along the way. I could just barely see one towards Nyxhaven, it would probably be best to head there.
Leading everyone to the city of Nyxhaven wasn't too bad since we all get along pretty well. There's a lot that I can't shake out of my head.
Bloodlust activated by during that fight when I didn't even kill any other humans which doesn't add up. The trigger has always been from killing another human being so I don't get what happened.
Rika didn't really provide me with much insight about the whole situation either...
Leaving me to figure out what happened by myself. I guess it would be more of my own problem to deal with anyway. Rika helps with a lot of other things so it's not like I can just complain about it.
If I had answers to what happened, you'd know. I apologize. I'm always hearing your thoughts anyway but I try not to pay attention for the most part since it is wrong.
No need to apologize, I'm just frustrated. There's so much that I don't know about and it has been driving me crazy lately. Why can't I be the one who figures everything out or why can't I be the one who knows about how to beat the Monarch's.
The answer is obvious since I'm only a human, I'd never have that kind of knowledge to begin with.
Anyone can acquire knowledge. It isn't something that can be given to one person alone. Just not everyone knows how to use their knowledge properly when they have it.
That makes sense in some ways I suppose. With the knowledge to defeat them I could help save my world from anymore chaos.
I'm sure people are suffering worse and worse everyday. Not everyone can be a hunter or protected by them... Some live in the outskirts of the cities like I did so it isn't easy.
"Back to Nyxhaven?" Ghost speaks up with a bit of curiosity.
"Yep. There's a tower near it so it makes sense to head there." I respond while still keeping my calm tone.
Nyxhaven isn't the worst city we've been in so I don't mind heading back there by any means. Lucien is there, he might have some information about the tower already.
I'm sure the guilds have already been preparing quests for hunters to take on, not that it means much to me right now. My rank is pretty damn awful right now though so who knows what will happen.
Maybe I can get a rank up from Lucien since I can't be a low rank forever. I'm sure people will get suspicious at some point or another if they see me beating high ranking monsters.
It's odd that we haven't encountered any monsters in awhile though, they used to be everywhere for the most part. Is this part of that whole evolution thing?
"Looks like we're about here." Velia chimes in as she looks at the entrance to Nyxhaven.
Once again we were back within the city of Nyxhaven, it was a truly beautiful place with a lot to it. We never really explored it much since we had a specific goal in mind but at some point I'd like to.
For now we needed to head to the guild hall to find Lucien since he'd be the best person for us to talk to.
Maneuvering through the crowds was pretty easy to do, even with all the whispers about my group. Ghost and Akina are the main ones being whispered about since the appearances are quite... Unique.
Finally we made it back to the obsidian covenant where Lucien awaits. Upon opening the door I can hear a bunch of people talking, almost like some big event is happening.
"That's a lot of damn silvite for exploring the tower!" A man shouts with excitement in his voice.
"I'll happily take it for myself." Another man chimes in.
"Everyone quiet down! It is a lot of silvite because we don't know the dangers of the tower yet. It'll be a risk for anyone who enters it so the silvite being this high is for a good cause. I don't want anyone making light of the tower situation either though! With that in mind, groups are required to accept the quest!" Lucien speaks loud enough for everyone to hear while looking all throughout the room.
Sounds like that's our guy ahead, can't say I'm surprised that he'd have to say all that in the first place. Towers are definitely not a place to take lightly by any means.
I learned through the climb myself that it wasn't easy and almost died a few times in the process. Actually, I've had a lot of near death experiences lately.
Someone is watching out for me... It can't be God if the heavenly realms truly are destroyed.
"I take it that he is the guy we need to talk to." Velia says while pointing towards Lucien.
"You'd be correct. He seems to be working on the tower issue already." I reply while observing the room.
Everyone is pretty hyped up about the tower but they don't understand how brutal it can be in there. I'm sure the amount of silvite being given is a lot but damn.
I looked towards the quest board briefly to see how much it was out of curiosity.
| The Tower Exploration Quest |
Explore the tower and figure out what kind of threats await inside. Once done, report back to the guild with your findings.
Rewards: Rank promotion and 100,000 silvite.
Rank requirements: None. Based off of overall party rank.
—————
I can understand why it is quite important to take on this quest now but damn that really is a lot of silvite. 100k silvite can go a long way for a lot of hunters down here.
I'm also surprised the guild can even offer that much to the hunters here. I wonder if everyone can turn in the quest or if it is limited since it doesn't really say.
The rank requirements also aren't strict enough to make a difference with who can do the quest or not.
Regardless, we plan to check out the tower after I speak to Lucien a bit. There's a lot that I didn't get to talk to him about since we got a ride straight home.
Lucien probably did it on purpose. There's a lot going on with guilds most of the time so it makes sense. You also have to remember that there are guilds you haven't even been to yet.
That's true. The other guilds are probably a bit more unique compared to the ones I've been to already.
All magic based guilds exist and so do ones that solely rely on talents. Strange how this world classifies things but I guess it doesn't make that big of a difference.
I'd like to learn more about talents since I'll never have one myself but magic is definitely a cool thought. Isn't fire technically magic?
I've used it a few times against some of the enemies so I figured that I have to be capable of using fire magic.
You're capable of becoming a dragon so using fire is natural. Again, your power is a lot more complicated than I previously thought so it'll take some time to figure everything out.
Guess it's good that we have the time to figure it out as we travel.
Step. Step. Lucien was standing in front of us, completely taking me away from my conversation with Rika.
"Nice to see you again, Rokuro." Lucien says with a big old smile.
