Chapter 896 If I did it, may lightning strike me!

He truly hadn't expected Tang Xinran and Jiang Tian to be so ruthless, making Jiang Mi believe he wanted her dead. No wonder she had been so indifferent to him since returning.

Thinking back to everything Tang Xinran had plotted back then, one scheme after another, she was indeed a master of intrigue and conspiracy!

In truth, Tang Xinran wasn't that brilliant; it was just that neither of them had expected it, allowing such a disgusting parasite to exploit a loophole.

Jiang Mi ran back to her car all the way. She bumped into several people on the road in a daze, unable to even utter an apology. Sitting in the car, she struggled to accept what Jiang Jingxiu had told her. If what he said was true, then what was the hatred that had accumulated over the years? She had truly hated him to death back then, her hatred for him building up until her return, at which point she loathed him to her very core.

Now he was telling her she had hated the wrong person, that it wasn't he who wanted her dead, but that it was all plotted by Tang Xinran and Jiang Tian.

Jiang Mi didn't know how to face all of this. She started the car and drove away from the hospital, out of the city towards the coast. She suddenly felt an urge to call Ling Bo. The first call didn't go through; he was probably busy. Less than ten minutes later, Ling Bo's call came back.

"Jiang Mi, what's wrong?" Ling Bo's voice was gentle. He understood Jiang Mi too well. She was a very independent person and wouldn't trust anyone. This was definitely related to the hurt she had experienced before, but if she didn't want to talk about it, he never asked.

"Ling Bo, when can you come find me? I want you to meet my daughter, can you?" Jiang Mi said anxiously.

"It might be another half a month. I'll see what I can do. I'll be as quick as possible." Ling Bo frowned, sensing her unease and fear.

"Doctor Ling, my father has woken up. Please come and see him quickly." a young female voice came through the phone.

"Okay, I'm on my way," Ling Bo replied.

"You go ahead and be busy. The patient is more important; I'm fine here," Jiang Mi said and hung up. She let out a long sigh, trying her best to appear less distressed.

She felt that this world was truly cruel, never caring about people's feelings, only throwing even harsher realities at you to make you suffer more.

...

Upon learning the truth about Jiang Mi's fall into the sea all those years ago, Ye Wan wasn't surprised. She had known Jiang Jingxiu since childhood and understood his character. He wasn't the type of person to do something so cruel, especially since Jiang Mi had borne him a child.

However, Jiang Mi had been convinced of it at the time. No matter what she said, Jiang Mi wouldn't believe it. Every time this topic was brought up, she would interrupt, not wanting to hear anything about Jiang Jingxiu.

Ye Wan could only give up, but she had always believed that the truth would eventually come out. Just as she had thought, Jiang Jingxiu hadn't done such a thing; others had framed him.

...

Ye Wan's car broke down on the road. After calling for a tow truck, she had to take a taxi to her cooperating company. However, there were very few cars in her area, let alone taxis passing by.

She waited for over ten minutes but couldn't catch a taxi. Just then, a black sedan stopped beside her. The car window rolled down, revealing Gu Yunting's handsome and cold profile.

"Miss Ling, where are you going? I can give you a ride," Gu Yunting said, turning to look at her, his dark eyes as deep as the sea.
