Ye Wan was led by a bodyguard to Gu Junbo's table. She sat down opposite him and asked directly, "Why did you ask to see me?"
"It's been a long time, I wanted to see you," Gu Junbo said, pushing a cup of tea towards Ye Wan.
"Mr. Gu, may I ask why you would beat your son for your illegitimate son?" Ye Wan's eyelashes trembled, and her eyes were filled with icy anger.
Gu Junbo looked at the young girl sitting ramrod straight before him and said, "Both my sons like you."
"So what? I only like Gu Yunting, not Jun Lichen. And the son you're protecting is a despicable, shameless, and vulgar scoundrel who only knows how to scheme behind people's backs! I hate him, I don't even want to see him again!"
Ye Wan became more and more angry as she spoke, feeling distressed for Gu Yunting. If he hadn't been so severely impacted, how could his strong body have suddenly developed a fever and fallen ill? Although he didn't say it, he cared deeply about Gu Junbo's attitude towards him.
Even with all his experience, Gu Junbo couldn't help but frown at Ye Wan's words. No father liked to hear their son described with such insulting terms.
"Ye Wan, some things are not as simple as they seem. Achen did what he did for a reason; he felt I was too biased towards Ating," Gu Junbo explained with a cold face.
"That's your business, that's his business, what does it have to do with Gu Yunting? What does it have to do with me? Just because he dislikes me, he can drag me into it and constantly use me to provoke Gu Yunting?" Ye Wan became increasingly agitated, the sharp pain in her chest becoming more pronounced. She truly felt for Gu Yunting.
"Perhaps you're right. So I've come to take Achen away from here, and he won't bother Ating and your lives anymore," Gu Junbo said indifferently.
Ye Wan became even angrier upon hearing this. "You just come and go as you please? Just for your illegitimate son? Have you considered Gu Yunting? Don't you owe him an explanation?"
Gu Yunting cared about Gu Junbo, his biological father. If he came, and then left, taking only his illegitimate half-brother, it would likely be another blow to him.
"Ye Wan, I know Achen has done many things to hurt you and Ating. It's also because of his jealousy towards Ating... I want to ask you for a favor, can you help ease the relationship between the two of them?" Gu Junbo's brow furrowed deeper. He was genuinely worried about his two sons' relationship.
He worried that his elder son, in a fit of rage, might actually kill his younger brother. If he hadn't arrived in time yesterday, Gu Yunting might have truly intended to kill him.
No, he was already trying to kill him.
"No! I can't do it!" Ye Wan shook her head firmly in refusal. "If what you say is true, and Jun Lichen also likes me, then if I interfere in their brothers' affairs, the situation might become even worse."
Ye Wan found the old man's thinking peculiar. If, as he claimed, both Gu Yunting and Jun Lichen liked her, was she supposed to be caught between them? Wouldn't that lead to a fight to the death?
"I didn't consider that carefully," Gu Junbo said, his attitude remaining reasonable. He looked at Ye Wan and finally sighed helplessly, "There's something I think I need to tell you, about Ating and Achen's background."
Ye Wan looked at him, puzzled. Her beautiful little face showed a clear lack of understanding. Weren't they half-brothers?
