"You ask me why I hit A Ting for A Chen? It's because A Ting nearly beat his brother to death. A Chen is still in the hospital, battered beyond recognition," Gu Jun Bo explained.
"Why would Gu Yun Ting hit him? Because he deserved it! For everything Jun Li Chen has done, I've wanted to beat him myself! It's a testament to Gu Yun Ting's upbringing that he's held back until now!" Ye Wan cared not for Jun Li Chen's well-being. In her eyes, only Gu Yun Ting mattered.
This was a truth Ye Wan could no longer suppress after her feelings became clear.
"I know."
"You don't know. If you knew, you wouldn't have hit him for your illegitimate son! You'll never understand how cruel that slap was to him! And let me tell you, this could all be Jun Li Chen's doing! Jun Li Chen always knows Gu Yun Ting's weakness! And so do you!" Ye Wan's hands clenched into fists, her eyes reddening.
"I apologize. I will apologize to A Ting personally, but there's one thing I want you to know... they are not half-brothers, but full brothers."
"You apologize... what?" Ye Wan stared at the man before her, her expression one of disbelief.
"What did you just say? How is that possible? Does Jun Li Chen know?"
"He doesn't. Only Su Ying and I know this. She made me swear I would never tell a third person, but I can't keep it a secret any longer. I can't watch my two sons destroy each other," Gu Jun Bo said, his face etched with pain.
Ye Wan was at a loss for words. Her mind was a mess, unable to process what was happening. If he was right, Gu Yun Ting was also born to the woman he loved... the woman Ye Wen Qing had mentioned, for whom he'd wronged his lawful wife, nearly to death.
"She was never the mistress. Su Ying was," Gu Jun Bo said, his tone always cold and disgusted when mentioning his lawful wife, Su Ying.
Upon hearing this, Ye Wan fell into a complete silence. Her heart ached even more for Gu Yun Ting. So, the woman who often acted erratically wasn't his mother. It was no wonder she had always felt that Mrs. Gu didn't favor her own son.
"It was all Su Ying's scheme. If I had known saving her back then would bring such disaster upon me, I would have watched her die!" Gu Jun Bo's emotions finally flickered, revealing a deeper negativity.
"So, why was Gu Yun Ting raised by Mrs. Gu?" Ye Wan only wanted to know about Gu Yun Ting. She had no interest in the drama of his love affairs.
"It was all her scheme. She poisoned A Ting's mother and swapped the newborn A Ting with a stillborn. To save the woman I loved, I had no choice but to agree to all her shameless demands. A Ting's mother knew nothing of these wicked bargains; she was foolishly waiting for me to divorce Su Ying. Only when she realized divorce was impossible did she sadly choose to leave me." Gu Jun Bo still couldn't speak calmly when recalling those events.
If Su Ying hadn't forced her way into his life, he believed his life would have been blissful, with a wife he loved and three adorable children.
