Chapter 242 Unexpectedly an Invisible Rich Woman

It was already half-past nine. Ye Wan's legs were numb, and the late autumn weather was cold, making her shiver. Gu Yunting's figure had still not appeared. She packed her things, slung her bag over her shoulder, and walked to the entrance. The patrolling security guard looked surprised to see her still there.

"Why are you still here? Young Master Gu already left work," the security guard said.

"I didn't see him come out. I've been watching the entrance the whole time."

"Young Master Gu left from the parking lot. If you really want to see him, you should make an appointment by phone. You won't be able to see him like this." The security guard then resumed his patrol.

Ye Wan immediately slung her backpack over her shoulder and ran for the bus, taking it back to Gu Residence. Upon her return, she immediately asked Sun Ma if Gu Yunting was back.

"Young Master isn't coming back tonight," Sun Ma said, having heard it from the housekeeper.

Ye Wan was dejected. She dragged her tired body towards her bedroom, sneezing twice along the way. Sun Ma followed her and asked, "Did you catch a cold? The temperature has been dropping recently. You should wear more clothes."

"I know. I'm going back to sleep now." Ye Wan was tired, hungry, and sleepy, wanting nothing more than to sleep.

"Wait a moment. I'll make you some ginger soup to ward off the cold, and then I'll cook you a bowl of noodles. Eat them before you sleep, or you'll easily get sick." Sun Ma turned and headed to the kitchen.

After Ye Wan took a bath, Sun Ma had already brought the ginger soup and noodles into the room. She placed them on the table and told Ye Wan to eat while they were hot. Ye Wan sat down and ate the noodles first, finding the ginger soup too hot. She would drink it later.

"Actually, the new housekeeper is not bad. Although she's strict, she's fair. I think things are pretty good now. At least, she turns a blind eye when I make you something to eat or drink," Sun Ma chatted with her.

Ye Wan simply ate her noodles quietly, not commenting on Sun Ma's words for the moment. How could she judge whether someone was good or bad after just meeting them?

"Drink the ginger soup quickly. It's most effective when drunk hot. Sweating will drive out the chill. You mustn't get cold again," Sun Ma urged her to drink the ginger soup first.

Ye Wan obediently drank a bowl of ginger soup. After finishing it, she indeed felt warmth spread throughout her body.

Sun Ma suddenly took out a small booklet mysteriously and handed it to Ye Wan. Ye Wan looked closely and saw it was a savings passbook.

"What's this for?" Ye Wan asked Sun Ma, looking confused.

"Regarding Xiao Cheng's illness, I can't help much. This is my savings from all these years. Please take it and use it." Sun Ma handed the passbook to Ye Wan.

"I will find a way to get the surgery fee for Xiao Cheng," Ye Wan refused to accept it.

"Just take it. Think of it as a loan. You can repay me when you have money." Sun Ma insisted that Ye Wan accept the money.

Ye Wan curiously opened it and was shocked when she saw the amount. "Sun Ma, you're an invisible rich woman!"

The savings passbook contained a million yuan!

Sun Ma smiled. "Don't you remember? The salary here is ten thousand a month. It was less before, but still quite generous. I live and eat here, and my clothes are provided, so I don't spend money on anything. This is only part of my savings. Don't worry, I've kept money for my retirement."

Ye Wan was touched, but she shook her head and pushed the passbook back. "I know your kindness, but I can't accept this money. This is your hard-earned money, and I can't take it. I will find a way for the money. You don't need to worry."

Ye Wan insisted on not accepting it, and Sun Ma became anxious. "Ye Cheng is like a child I watched grow up. He's no different from my own child. If you keep this up, I'll get angry and won't talk to you anymore!"
