Ye Wan nodded in agreement. When Jin Lan returned, Ning Xin excused herself to go to the restroom. After she left, Ye Wan saw Jin Lan staring into space, his handsome face already attracting the attention of many girls.
"Jin Lan, are you alright? You don't have to stay with us if something's up," Ye Wan asked with concern.
Jin Lan snapped back to attention and smiled at her. "I'm fine, you don't need to worry. Why did you suddenly want to see a movie with me today?"
"Uh... well... I haven't seen one in a long time... and I couldn't think of anyone else who could accompany me..." Ye Wan stammered her explanation.
Jin Lan looked at her with a half-smile, seemingly having seen through her little ruse. Ye Wan's face flushed with embarrassment; it was her first time asking a guy out for a friend.
Just then, a server walked over and said to them, "You can head in now. Please follow me."
Jin Lan smiled and said, "I'll wait for your classmate here. You go ahead first, I'll go in with her."
Ye Wan, remembering the purpose of asking Jin Lan out was to give Ning Xin and Jin Lan a chance to interact and see if they could become a couple, picked up a cola and a bucket of popcorn. "Then I'll go in first. Wait for Ning Xin and bring her over."
Jin Lan smiled and nodded.
Ye Wan left with the server. When Ning Xin returned, she saw this and hurried over, asking, "I have the tickets. Where did Ye Wan go?"
"She said she wanted to watch a different movie. It's almost time, let's go." Jin Lan proactively handed the cola to Ning Xin, taking the popcorn and his own cola as they entered.
As Ning Xin was in close proximity to Jin Lan, she realized just how handsome he was. His height and build were also top-notch. She suddenly understood Jiang Yan's preference for good looks; it turned out that attractive members of the opposite sex were indeed very appealing.
Jin Lan and Ning Xin had their tickets checked and entered the theater. As they found their seats, they spotted two familiar faces: Jiang Yan and Chu Yu.
Jiang Yan almost had a heart attack when she saw Jin Lan. Even more horrifying, Jin Lan was in front, with Ning Xin behind him. With the narrow seats, Jin Lan had to sit next to Jiang Yan.
Chu Yu was delighted to see his uncle. "Uncle, what a coincidence! You're here to watch a movie too!"
"Mm," Jin Lan replied indifferently, sitting down in the seat next to Jiang Yan.
Ning Xin sat next to Jin Lan. Jiang Yan immediately leaned over and asked, "Where's Ye Wan? Isn't she here with you guys?"
"Ye Wan said she doesn't like this movie and went to watch another one," Ning Xin explained.
Jiang Yan frowned, thinking that Ye Wan must have chosen to watch a different movie to create an opportunity for Ning Xin and this guy. She worried that Ye Wan, being so beautiful, might encounter a pervert, especially since the lights are always dimmed during movies!
How could she be left unprotected?
"Which theater did she go to? I need to go with her." The more Jiang Yan thought about it, the more she felt her concern was justified. She absolutely wouldn't allow Ye Wan to be bullied.
"Senior, let's go find Ye Wan. She's too beautiful, it's not safe," Jiang Yan said, standing up to leave.
"Huh? But didn't you say you wanted to watch this movie?" Chu Yu seemed a bit confused by Jiang Yan's actions.
Jin Lan grabbed Jiang Yan's wrist and pulled hard. Jiang Yan tumbled back into her seat. She angrily demanded, "What are you doing?"
"She has company, you don't need to worry about her!" Jin Lan shot her a glare. He tried to cross his long legs but failed.
