The space was too cramped, and Jin Lan's legs were too long. He accidentally kicked the seat in front, annoying the girl seated there. Upon seeing that the handsome man behind her was the culprit, she quickly turned back and started whispering to her friend. The two girls then repeatedly turned to steal glances at Jin Lan, even taking out their phones to snap discreet photos.
Jin Lan was speechless.
He wished he had worn a mask.
Jiang Yan eyed Jin Lan suspiciously, wondering who was accompanying Ye Wan. Was it Gu Yunting? But she didn't want to acknowledge him, so she held back her curiosity, though her heart ached to know. She fidgeted restlessly, as if she had a pin under her.
...
Ye Wan was led to a screening room, which was surprisingly empty. She asked the staff member who guided her, "Is no one watching this movie? Why is it so deserted?"
"Your seats are here. Perhaps people bought tickets but haven't arrived yet," the usher replied before leaving.
Various advertisements played on the large screen. Ye Wan took out her phone, intending to call Ning Xin to ask if she had left and when she would arrive.
She didn't pay attention when someone approached her, assuming it was another moviegoer, until that person sat down in the seat beside her.
Ye Wan curiously glanced over. When she saw the man sitting next to her, her eyes widened in surprise. "Young Master… Gu, what are you doing here?"
"Watching a movie," Gu Yunting replied casually, reaching out to take a sip of Ye Wan's drink.
Ye Wan looked left and right in astonishment, realizing it was just the two of them in the entire theater. She asked incredulously, "Where are Jin Lan and Ning Xin?"
"They are watching a different movie together," Gu Yunting answered promptly.
"But..."
"Didn't you want to set up Jin Lan with your classmate? How can they develop a relationship with you playing the third wheel?" Gu Yunting tapped her on the head.
Ye Wan immediately touched her head. "That's not matchmaking. I just wanted them to meet again and get to know each other a bit, to see if there was any interest."
She wouldn't actively try to pair people up. If there was genuine chemistry, she'd be happy for them. If not, she wouldn't say anything more, and the matter would be dropped.
"Your classmate would cry if she knew your plan," Gu Yunting said, shaking his head helplessly, finding her intentions naive.
He had seen too many women who would do anything to get ahead, and those women made him feel particularly disgusted.
"Huh?" Ye Wan looked at him, puzzled. She was like a blank slate when it came to relationships and didn't understand what he meant. She certainly hadn't considered the extreme measures some women might take to win a man.
Gu Yunting couldn't stand her innocent, almost foolish demeanor. It always made him lose control, giving him an urge to tear her apart. He reached out and pushed up the armrest between them, leaning his body towards her. Ye Wan instinctively tried to lean back, but her back was against the seat, leaving her nowhere to retreat. The man gripped the back of her head, preventing her escape, and kissed her with her eyes closed.
Ye Wan's breath hitched completely. She blinked, her gaze falling on the advertisements on the large screen, and her mind wandered for a moment. Gu Yunting, displeased, bit her lightly before pulling away, stopping about ten centimeters from her.
"Why did you bite me!" Ye Wan glared at him accusingly, feeling wronged. He always bit too hard. Though it didn't draw blood this time, it still hurt.
"This is your punishment for not being focused! Next time I kiss you, you need to close your eyes and feel it with all your attention, understand?" Gu Yunting leaned in to kiss her again before returning to his seat.
