Chapter 301 Calling Out Another Man's Name

Gu Yunting was meticulous, avoiding any of her injured areas. He endured the pain in his chest and bent down to wipe her for twenty minutes. Seeing her complexion improve, he picked up the thermometer and took her temperature, which registered at 38 degrees Celsius.

Gu Yunting let out a long sigh of relief. He straightened up and coughed twice, then looked at his hand, slightly stained with blood. He coughed again and suppressed it with his fist pressed to his lips.

He pulled the quilt over Ye Wan and covered her carefully. He then picked up the basin of water and went to the bathroom. Upon reaching the bathroom, he spat out a mouthful of blood. Gu Yunting turned on the faucet and washed the blood away. He picked up a water cup, filled it with water, and rinsed his mouth. Looking coldly at his disheveled face in the mirror, he turned and left the ward.

He turned off the lights and lay down beside Ye Wan, embracing her again.

Ye Wan whimpered with pain as her wound was touched. Gu Yunting, afraid that his rough clothes might hurt her, took off his clothes and held her again.

Ye Wan remained silent this time. Gu Yunting gently touched her forehead, feeling that her temperature seemed to have dropped slightly. He then held her in his arms with peace of mind.

"Fu Huaishen... Fu Huaishen..."

Ye Wan suddenly started crying, murmuring Fu Huaishen's name. She was dreaming, and in her dream, she had returned to that terrifying room. Su Shijie's disgusting smile made her feel on the verge of collapse and wanting to call for help, but she knew no one would come to save her. Only Fu Huaishen would.

Gu Yunting listened to the girl in his arms calling out another man's name. He couldn't accept it. He didn't want to hear her call another man's name again, so he lowered his head and sealed her dry lips.

Ye Wan's dream shifted. She was thrown into a desert with no water and a scorching sun. She felt like she was drying up, incredibly thirsty, and desperately wanting a sip of water. Just as she felt she was about to die of thirst, a piece of ice seemed to be placed in her mouth. It was a cool, comfortable piece of ice. Ye Wan greedily absorbed its coolness, wishing she could swallow it whole.

Gu Yunting didn't expect Ye Wan to be so responsive, as if she wanted to swallow his tongue. He guessed she must be thirsty and released her, then turned to get water.

Ye Wan, who had been enjoying the ice, suddenly found it gone. She became anxious and desperately searched forward. Gu Yunting, seeing her eagerness, quickly took a sip of water himself and then covered her small mouth again, sending water into her mouth.

Ye Wan found it incredibly comfortable. Just when she thought she was going to die of thirst, she actually drank water! The feeling was simply wonderful.

Gu Yunting only stopped after feeding her a cup of water. Ye Wan, now comfortable, stopped dreaming and finally fell into a peaceful sleep.

Gu Yunting could no longer hold on. He had been consumed by anger when he saw Ye Wan being taken away, and he had sustained internal injuries from fighting with Fu Huaishen. Smelling the familiar fragrance, he closed his eyes and also fell into a deep sleep.

The next day, Ye Wan woke up feeling hot. She opened her eyes and met a familiar face, but today it was bruised. She immediately remembered what had happened yesterday and reached out to push Gu Yunting away.

It was then that she realized neither of them was wearing clothes. Ye Wan frowned displeasantly and quickly picked up her clothes from the side and put them on.

Gu Yunting, pushed away, slowly opened his eyes. He felt very unwell at the moment, but he couldn't attend to himself. He reached out and grabbed Ye Wan's wrist, letting out a long sigh of relief, "No more fever."
