Jin Lan was still chattering. He looked up and saw the thunderous expression on Gu Yun Ting's handsome face, which scared him so much that his hand trembled, and he almost spilled the red wine. He quickly took a couple of sips to calm his nerves.
After they each drank half a bottle of red wine, Gu Yun Ting took a document from the drawer and threw it at Jin Lan, saying, "Take it to her and have her sign it."
Jin Lan immediately took the document and asked, "Got it, I'll send it to her right away!"
He didn't bother to look inside, assuming it was just something to make Ye Wan return to the Gu residence and not leave again. He knew Gu Yun Ting couldn't bear to part with Ye Wan; that girl was his lifeblood.
After Jin Lan left, Gu Yun Ting frowned and continued to read the next report.
...
At the hospital, Ye Wan couldn't wait any longer. After Ye Cheng was stabilized, she immediately took a taxi to Gu's Group to find him.
She was stopped at the entrance. This time, Gu Yin personally blocked her from entering. Ye Wan had no choice but to wait outside.
The snow had stopped in the middle of the night, and it started to melt today, making the temperature exceptionally low, already below zero. Ye Wan, wearing a thin cotton coat, stood in the snow, and her hands and feet quickly became numb with cold.
A dazzling red sports car drove over. Gu Yin immediately came to open the car door, and Hua Rong stepped out. Her eyes immediately landed on the young girl standing in the snow.
"Miss Hua, the young master is waiting for you upstairs," Gu Yin said respectfully.
Hua Rong glanced at Ye Wan a couple more times, then nodded and went inside.
Today, Hua Rong was wearing a red fur coat, paired with her wavy, wine-red long hair. She exuded a queen-like aura. Ye Wan thought perhaps only such a woman could be worthy of a man as aloof as Gu Yun Ting.
He had found a new love, and he was no longer interested even in the bodies he once desired. What right did she have to beg him?
Ye Wan stood outside the door for over an hour. By now, she felt like she was about to faint. She didn't want to wait anymore, afraid her body wouldn't hold up if she waited any longer. When she took out her phone, she discovered it had run out of battery at some point.
Hua Rong arrived upstairs and didn't mention seeing Ye Wan. After she treated Gu Yun Ting, she said, "Drink less next time; it's not good for your condition."
"Mm," Gu Yun Ting responded indifferently.
His phone rang. He glanced at the unfamiliar number, hesitated for a moment, and then answered.
"Young master, please, I beg you, agree to my request. I'm willing to be your servant," Ye Wan's weak voice came through. She had borrowed a security guard's phone to call Gu Yun Ting.
She couldn't hold on any longer. For her brother, she wanted to make one last effort. If Gu Yun Ting still refused, she would have no choice but to die with her brother.
It wasn't that she was weak, but that this world had left her too desperate. There was nothing beautiful left for her to cling to.
"Do you think I'm short of someone to be my servant?" Gu Yun Ting said, then coldly hung up the phone.
Ye Wan slowly put down her phone. She thanked the security guard and, with red eyes, looked up at the dazzling skyscraper before turning and walking mechanically into the distance.
A trace of disdain flickered in Gu Yin's eyes. Gu Ye returned from his tasks at this moment and saw Ye Wan; she had already gotten into a car and left.
"Did Miss Ye see the young master?"
"No, the young master didn't want to see her," Gu Yin said dismissively.
"Gu Yin, you've caused trouble!" Gu Ye sensed the situation was bad and immediately walked towards the company building.
"What trouble have I caused? She was so heartless to the young master, and you want to let her get close to him? Didn't you see that the young master told me to drive her away!" Gu Yin retorted, unconvinced.
"..."
Gu Ye didn't say much more. He quickly pressed the elevator button. The elevator doors opened, and he stepped inside, pressing the button for the president's office.
