Chapter 348 - 343: Apocalypse Sisters

Chapter 348: Chapter 343: Apocalypse Sisters

Feeling Ye Qiu’s gaze, the Zombie King turned his head, gave her a grin, and immediately revealed a set of shark-like sharp teeth.

"Don’t scare people." The middle-aged woman slapped her son’s head and softly reprimanded in a low voice.

Ye Qiu was truly terrified. Even if she was aware of the situation, this was still a zombie—and the leader of the zombies at that!

"My name is Wang Shufen, just call me Aunt Wang, this is the child’s father, named Wei Qiang, you can just call him Uncle Qiang. Our son is named Wei Yang. Although the apocalypse has made him a bit different from us, he means no harm." Aunt Wang explained with forced laughter, her eyes gleaming with joy as she thought that her son, having mutated, finally came to his senses and started looking for a wife.

"Aunt Wang, Uncle Qiang." Ye Qiu cornered up a smile and greeted them. In any case, with them around, she probably wouldn’t be in any danger to her life, right?

But whether Wei Yang meant no harm needed confirmation, didn’t it? Just a moment ago, he was leading a horde of zombies to attack the base!

"Where did this come from?" A man’s voice suddenly rang in Ye Qiu’s mind, and she looked towards the Zombie King. Was this him speaking?

No, that was incorrect, he hadn’t opened his mouth. It must have been through mental power, directly transmitting his voice into her mind.

Ye Qiu looked at the fruit in the Zombie King’s hand. Despite being swallowed by the giant eagle, it wasn’t digested at all and was still emitting a refreshing fragrance.

"How fragrant!" Wang Shufen was surprised by the fruit in her son’s hand, unconsciously swallowing her saliva.

"I grew it." Ye Qiu responded to the Zombie King Wei Yang, as she looked at him.

As Ye Qiu spoke, Wang Shufen and Wang Qiang knew their son was talking to the young girl. Wang Shufen’s eyes dimmed; it was just for the fruit, not his son bringing home a daughter-in-law?

Sigh! What a false alarm!

"Hand it over to me, or I’ll kill you." Wei Yang transmitted coldly.

Ye Qiu was not afraid at all: "There’s no more. This is the only one. You should be able to sense how precious this is. It’s not that easy to grow, is it?"

"Don’t threaten the girl." Wang Shufen must have sensed something and again slapped her son’s head fiercely.

Ye Qiu unexpectedly saw a trace of grievance in the Zombie King’s expression. What to do? This scene was quite funny, but she dared not laugh.

"Is this your thing?" Wang Shufen asked Ye Qiu.

"Yes, I am a research scientist from Hu Province Base, and this is a new species I cultivated." Ye Qiu nodded and answered truthfully.

"Research scientist?" Wang Shufen found herself liking Ye Qiu more and more as she looked at her. Why couldn’t she be her daughter-in-law?

"So what’s this fruit used for?" Wei Qiang asked next, as anything so valued by their son must be precious, right?

"I am not exactly sure, but the energy inside this fruit is very potent. If your son consumes it, there are three possible outcomes: he might evolve into something more advanced, or he might not be able to digest the energy and explode, or it could possibly purify the Zombie Virus in his body, turning him into an ordinary person."

"How do you know that?" After hearing Ye Qiu’s words, Wang Shufen and Wei Qiang trembled with a mix of emotions—they hoped their son could return to his normal self, but they didn’t want him to take any risks. If there was danger, they’d rather maintain the status quo!

"Because I’ve used the vine leaves that bore this fruit to develop a Medicine that eliminates the Zombie Virus."

Hearing Ye Qiu’s explanation, Wang Shufen and Wei Qiang looked at their son nervously: "Yangyang, maybe we shouldn’t eat it?"

"It’s okay." Wei Yang communicated to his parents through his spiritual power, then grabbed Ye Qiu and locked her in the adjacent apartment.

"Yangyang!" Wang Shufen called out anxiously, "Don’t do anything foolish."

"What do you want to do?" Ye Qiu, looking at Wei Yang and knowing he still retained his humanity, wasn’t as scared as she was at the beginning.

"Help me to level up, or I will destroy that base," Wei Yang transmitted coldly.

"Then first tell me, why did you initiate a zombie wave? Are you in cahoots with those mutant animals?"

"No," Wei Yang frowned, recalling with evident pain, "Something is controlling me."

Wei Yang had apparently only just realized this, his expression growing even grimmer: "Help me level up."

Ye Qiu took a deep breath; her initial guess turned out to be correct. It wasn’t just humans at risk—at some point, zombies and mutant animals might also vanish due to various circumstances. How could they save themselves?

"I can help you, but you have to promise me you won’t attack humans anymore."

"If I’m not being controlled or if they don’t attack me first."

"Deal."

Having said that, under Wei Yang’s gaze, Ye Qiu took out the Golden Crow Egg from her space. One a Zombie King and the other an unhatched Golden Crow, they both sensed each other’s immense energy. Especially when the Golden Crow Egg saw Wei Yang holding the fruit, it couldn’t help but release a huge surge of energy.

"Be good, obedient, I’ll give you something even better later," Ye Qiuqing tapped the shell lightly.

The Golden Crow Egg snuggled up to Ye Qiu with a wronged look, its golden surface flashing.

"He needs to take that fruit. You help him sort out his energy, don’t let him die," Ye Qiu caressed the Golden Crow Egg, feeling a bit guilty.

But the Golden Crow Egg was very cooperative, moving up and down in quiet agreement.

Wei Yang watched Ye Qiu and the Golden Crow Egg with a strange look in his eye, sensing the tyrannical energy from this giant golden egg, the ultimate delicacy! But he dared not act.

Wei Yang swallowed the fruit under Ye Qiu’s watchful eye, and after about half an hour, his expression began to contort in pain, with blue veins popping on his pale face. His eyes reddened further, his claws dug into the wall creating a large hole, and a howling sound came from his mouth.

"Yangyang, what’s wrong with you?" Wang Shufen and Wei Qiang, standing on the balcony of the neighboring apartment, asked anxiously. The doors and windows had been locked tight by Wei Yang; they couldn’t come out, all they could do was fret helplessly.

"Roar!" Wei Yang’s reason was fading, his face also showing the typical pallor of a zombie.

At this moment, the Golden Crow Egg took action, a faint golden glow enveloping him.

No one knew how much time had passed, but Wang Shufen’s eyes next door were swollen from crying, and even Ye Qiu’s counseling was to no avail.

Ye Qiu watched as Wei Yang transformed from a zombie that looked like a normal person into a real zombie, and then from a real zombie slowly began to regain his humanity. The agony of that process was known only to him.

"Yangyang?" With no more commotion, Wang Shufen called out tentatively with a hoarse voice.

"Mom!" The person on the floor regained consciousness, instinctively responding—it was a rough voice, but indeed came from his mouth.

Next door, Wang Shufen and Wei Qiang were immediately in tears.

Could he really be cured? Ye Qiu was filled with surprise.

"Have you become a normal person?"

"No." Wei Yang lifted his head, his eyes still red, but after blinking, they turned black again, Ye Qiu was sure she hadn’t seen wrong.

So, he is still a zombie?
