Chapter 199: Chapter 0199: Brother-in-law Takes Action, One Man to Match Two_1
Zhang Bin stood at the foot of the mountain, making a phone call to Liu Ruomei. "I’m already at the base of the mountain. Where are you, Sister Mei?"
"Ah... Brother-in-law, you got here so quickly?" Liu Ruomei’s surprised voice came through. "Actually, the issue has been resolved. I’m on my way back, so you can head home too."
Clearly, she did not want Zhang Bin to know about her embarrassing date with Chen Junheng.
"I ran here on my own two feet; I didn’t drive," Zhang Bin said irritably. "Come pick me up right now."
"Well... okay, I’ll come pick you up right away," Liu Ruomei replied reluctantly. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to pick up Zhang Bin, but she couldn’t stand the thought of seeing Chen Junheng. He was such a liar, a despicable person she never wanted to see again.
However, Chen Junheng had done a great favor for her Liu Family, so she didn’t want to pursue the matter any further.
So she drove back, and to her delight, she didn’t see Chen Junheng—only Zhang Bin was standing there.
She parked the car and jumped out, rushing into Zhang Bin’s arms with an intoxicating fragrance. For some reason, her eyes turned red.
If it weren’t for her trying to forget Zhang Bin, she wouldn’t have agreed to meet Chen Junheng. Little did she know that once they met, she couldn’t shake him off and even ended up touring with him for a day, which almost led to her ruin. If she hadn’t been quick-witted enough to send a distress text to Zhang Bin in that brief instant, the consequences would have been too horrible to imagine.
She felt wronged, but she couldn’t bring herself to tell him the truth.
"Spill it. Who bullied you? Let me go teach him a lesson," Zhang Bin said furiously. "Daring to bully my sister-in-law is simply courting death."
"Well..." Liu Ruomei’s heart melted, but she hesitated, reluctant to say it out loud.
However, after Zhang Bin’s persistent probing, she bashfully recounted what had happened. At the end, she said timidly, "I was indeed foolish this time, but I promise it will never happen again. Brother-in-law, don’t be angry."
"You actually went sightseeing with another man? Do you really not want to be your brother-in-law’s woman?" Zhang Bin asked, his face filling with pain and sorrow.
"You bastard! I’ll kick you to death!" Liu Ruomei exploded like a raging tiger and kicked Zhang Bin hard. "You are my brother-in-law, and I respect you! How could you have such a shameless thought? I can let you hug me, kiss me, and be close to me, but that’s just the normal relationship between a sister-in-law and brother-in-law. I will never be your woman! I will never ruin the relationship between you and my sister!"
"I was just joking," Zhang Bin said awkwardly.
"Don’t you ever make a joke like that again, Brother-in-law." Liu Ruomei rested her head on Zhang Bin’s shoulder and closed her eyes, looking utterly exhausted.
Zhang Bin sighed inwardly. Sigh, this woman is clearly head over heels for me, yet she’s unwilling to be mine. I have to save her; I must make her happy.
With that, he grabbed Liu Ruomei and started walking up the mountain, a furious expression on his face.
"Brother-in-law, what are you doing?" Liu Ruomei asked, surprised.
"To investigate the truth, of course," Zhang Bin said with killing intent.
"The truth? Didn’t I already tell you? It was Chen Junheng hiring actors to deceive me," Liu Ruomei said in astonishment.
"To my knowledge, there’s a miraculous Special Ability in the world called Telekinesis, which can unleash shadowless and formless attacks," Zhang Bin said seriously. "Therefore, it’s possible it wasn’t staged. And if Chen Junheng didn’t hire actors, then someone saw how beautiful you are and tried to abduct you. How could I possibly let them get away with that?"
"Brother-in-law, you’re ridiculous! Even if a Special Ability like that exists, what are the odds I’d encounter it? And why would they help me? If they helped me, why wouldn’t they come forward to speak or show themselves?" Liu Ruomei scoffed, utterly disbelieving.
"Regardless, we have to investigate thoroughly. Let’s hurry before they escape."
Zhang Bin quickened his pace while pulling Liu Ruomei along. When he realized she couldn’t keep up, he simply lifted her by the waist and broke into a sprint.
Liu Ruomei giggled and wrapped her arms around Zhang Bin’s neck. She wasn’t angry at all; in fact, she quite enjoyed it. She wasn’t being asked to exert any effort, so what was there not to enjoy?
After all, he is my brother-in-law, and he’s held me many times before. As long as I don’t cross the final line, it won’t harm the relationship between him and my sister.
WHOOSH. WHOOSH. WHOOSH.
Holding Liu Ruomei, Zhang Bin ascended like an arrow. With each step, he covered several meters in height.
The tourists on the path stared in shock, looking at them as if they were freaks.
Some female tourists shot their boyfriends resentful looks, clearly complaining that they didn’t have Zhang Bin’s mountaineering skills. Otherwise, they too could be lying in their boyfriends’ arms, enjoying the scenery.
In just over ten minutes, Zhang Bin and Liu Ruomei arrived at Half-Mountain Temple, but the hook-nosed youth and the large man had already disappeared.
"They won’t escape," Zhang Bin sneered, continuing to rush toward Xianren Bridge with Liu Ruomei in his arms.
Soon, they reached Xianren Bridge, but there was still no sign of the youth.
However, Zhang Bin didn’t give up and continued to rush upward.
Although it was an overcast day, the six large men had their cell phones, so through Tutu’s miraculous ability, he knew their exact location.
WHOOSH...
Zhang Bin’s speed increased until he arrived at a peculiar spot. There seemed to be no path ahead, only a perilous cliff shrouded in thick fog.
But without hesitation, he leaped high into the air, secretly using his Special Ability to support himself.
Like a bird, he soared up the cliff—which was over ten meters high—and then sprinted through the forest on top.
Liu Ruomei was completely stunned, her face filled with admiration as her heart pounded in her chest. Brother-in-law is so powerful; it’s as if he can fly. In that moment, she firmly believed that there was no youth in the world more outstanding than Zhang Bin. I’ll never find a man as amazing as him to be my husband.
THUD.
Zhang Bin leaped down from another cliff, landing on the ground like a flying general from the heavens.
The hook-nosed youth was there, as were the six large men.
Upon seeing that Zhang Bin and Liu Ruomei had tracked them down, panic spread across their faces.
Zhang Bin set Liu Ruomei down. A terrifying killing intent and murderous aura erupted from him. His eyes shot out a chilling light that landed on the youth as he demanded, "Speak. Who are you? What Sect are you from? And why were you targeting her earlier?"
