Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Moving In With You?
Theodore Lynch saw that the young girl seemed a bit frightened.
He quickly explained, "Not yet, but soon she will be, sis-in-law, don’t be afraid, we mean no harm, just a paternity test."
"But don’t misunderstand, we just want to be cautious."
His words made Serena Yeats feel angry, as furious as a pufferfish, "You think I’m trying to cheat you out of the operation fee?"
Theodore knew she misunderstood, "Sis-in-law, that’s not what we mean. This is Master Lancaster, Elias Lancaster, if the test shows the child is Master Lancaster’s, we’ll definitely take responsibility."
Serena looked angrily at the man, but he still said nothing, just sitting there.
She withdrew her gaze and looked at Theodore Lynch.
"If it proves that this child is really his, you must pay my operation fee!"
She didn’t dare speak like that to Elias Lancaster, because his face was stern, he was clearly not easy to deal with, and his aura was intimidating.
In front of the constantly smiling Theodore Lynch, she spoke a bit more authoritatively.
Theodore didn’t know how to explain properly, so he said, "Sis-in-law, I mean, if the child is indeed Master Lancaster’s, he’ll take good care of you and the child, and won’t terminate the child."
Serena was stunned, looking at Theodore, then at Elias.
Coincidentally.
Elias also happened to lift his eyes to look at her.
Their eyes met.
Serena immediately looked down.
A moment later, she clenched her fists, mustering the courage to look up at Elias, "I don’t want to have them."
"You go out."
Elias looked at Theodore Lynch.
Serena thought he was talking about her and was about to get up.
"Sis-in-law, you two have a good talk, I’m leaving." Theodore said and turned away.
Elias softened his voice, "Why don’t you want to have them?"
Serena felt a little dizzy, "I still have to go to school, I want to complete my studies. I have my own life, and you have yours too."
Elias’s tone was helpless, "I’ll take good care of you, just have them, okay?"
"I’m not the one pregnant; you haven’t even considered my feelings. I need to go to school. You lied to me saying you were sterile, that’s why I didn’t take birth control."
She wanted to complete her education, enter society, work hard to live a good life.
She never wanted to return to that house again.
But being pregnant, how could she attend school?
What would others say when they saw her?
Elias’s tone turned a bit cold, "Take a few days to consider before making a decision, okay?"
The two of them remained at an impasse, the more Serena thought about it, the more she felt wronged, lowering her head and shedding tears.
Seeing her cry, Elias felt a pang in his heart.
"Don’t cry, you can continue your studies after giving birth, I didn’t lie to you, the Lancaster Family has always had difficulty with descendants starting from my ancestors.
Now that you’re carrying my child, it’s a stroke of luck, the Lancaster bloodline is relying on them.
You are the mother of two children, I’ll take care of everything for you in the future, including your education."
Serena remained silent, her head lowered, tears falling, as she thought about his words.
She did want money, she dreamt of not worrying about money.
But she didn’t want to be someone who always had her palm up.
Serena looked at her flat abdomen, her feelings were complicated.
These two children, they are innocent, their arrival was unexpected, but now as their mother, she has to abandon them.
If she could, she wouldn’t want to hurt them either, after all, they share her blood.
Wait, did he just say two? She was expecting...
"Two?" Serena finally realized, looking up at Elias.
"Twins, didn’t you know? It’s written on the ultrasound sheet."
"I...." Serena took the ultrasound sheet to look.
Really twins?
Yesterday, upon hearing she was pregnant, her mind went blank, she hadn’t really listened to what the doctor said, nor had she looked at the examination sheet carefully.
If it was already hard to part with one, how could she bear to part with two now?
They are her blood relatives, the only two in the world.
If this man could truly do as he said, then she...maybe she could keep the children.
Serena’s mind was in turmoil, looking up and meeting Elias’s gaze, "Are you serious about what you just said?"
Looking at her pure little face, Elias’s expression softened. "As long as you keep the children, I’ll be responsible for you."
Serena smiled bitterly, "I’ll consider it, but if I do give birth, I have conditions."
"Go ahead."
"If I give birth to the two children, if I want to see them, you can’t stop me."
"Serena, I will take responsibility for you, you will always be the mother of our children, please consider carefully, okay?"
"Mm." Serena nodded lightly.
In the following quiet rest area, no one spoke, silently waiting for the results.
After a while.
Theodore Lynch returned with the hospital director, respectfully addressing the others, "Master Lancaster, Young Master Lynch, the results are in."
Theodore excitedly stepped forward, took the results, and directly turned to the page with the conclusions.
Immediately, he jumped up excitedly, sat down next to Elias, "Master Lancaster, congratulations on the twins!"
Only then did the hospital director realize he almost made a fool of himself, thankful that he hadn’t congratulated Young Master Lynch earlier.
Otherwise, his life might have been at risk.
The director fearfully wiped his sweat and offered his congratulations, "Congratulations, Master Lancaster!"
However....
Elias’s expression was a mix of joy and complexity, he looked at Theodore, "Out."
Theodore glanced at him, knowing he still had matters to discuss with Serena, and left with a smile, giving them space.
He had to go report the good news to the matriarch!
Serena stood up, wanting to leave as well.
As she got up, Elias grabbed her hand, "Serena, sit."
Serena. "..."
She understood, he had more to say to her.
But seeing the complexity in his expression, seemingly unhappy, she didn’t dare to speak.
Serena lowered her head, nervously picking at her hands to relieve tension.
She waited for him to speak first.
Elias watched her movements and small gestures.
In his eyes, Serena was so small, barely a few pounds of flesh on her, it seemed like a gust of wind could blow her away.
But thinking about what he saw of her family situation and how her family treated her, she was a pitiful person.
No one was good to her, so he resolved to be good to her.
Elias took a sip of coffee, "Serena, before you make your decision, move in with me, I’ll take care of you."
"What?" Serena looked up in shock, then furrowing her brows.
Her little expression was somewhat cute, questioning, "Live at your place?"
