Chapter 10: Keeping the Children

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Keeping the Children

"Serena, you need to eat on time in the future." Elias Lancaster said, picking up a bag, unpacking it, and bringing out the chicken soup, rice, and vegetables.

The rich aroma of chicken soup drilled straight into her nose.

But this made Serena Yeats, who was feeling hungry, immediately start retching.

She covered her mouth, wanting to get out of bed, but her hand was still under an IV drip.

Elias hurriedly brought over a garbage can.

After vomiting, Serena looked up to see Elias standing beside her with a bottle of water.

"Serena, rinse your mouth." Elias handed her the water.

Serena took it and thanked him.

As soon as she finished rinsing her mouth and sat back down, she smelled the chicken soup...

Elias followed her gaze, realized what was happening, and swiftly took the soup and walked out.

When he returned to the hospital room, Serena was feeling much better.

"Uncle, I’m sorry, I..."

"It’s nothing to apologize for." Elias furrowed his brows, "Serena, do you always vomit like this?"

"No." Serena shook her head and thought for a moment, "I only vomited when I got up in the last few mornings, so I went for a checkup. I didn’t vomit yesterday or the day before."

Hearing her say this, Elias’ brows furrowed tightly.

He said softly, "We need to observe for a few days. Tonight, you should eat these first, and I’ll have a nutritionist prepare and deliver later."

"Okay~"

Elias said he had some business to take care of and left.

Serena sat on the hospital bed, staring blankly at her stomach.

Today was too risky.

If...

Every time she thought about losing the two children, a wave of pain spread from her heart.

She remembered Elias’s worried expression when they were in the car.

Uncle is actually really nice, and fortunately, the children are okay.

Suddenly.

Her eyes became resolute, as if she had made a decision.

A moment later.

Elias returned to the hospital room.

Serena looked up at him and met his eyes; Uncle isn’t so scary after all.

"Uncle, I’ve thought it over. I want to keep these two babies, but you have to remember what you promised before.

If I keep the babies, in the future when I want to see them, you must let me, and you can’t go back on your word."

"Okay, Serena, I said I would take responsibility." Elias didn’t expect that after going to the doctor to ask about precautions, she would seriously tell him this upon his return.

On the way to the hospital, she had already mentioned once that she wanted to keep the babies.

Elias’ voice was gentle, and his words reassured Serena’s anxious heart.

Serena remembered that she had class tomorrow and sent a message to request a week’s leave.

She watched Elias carefully wipe her hands with a towel, his meticulous and cautious demeanor warming her heart.

No one had ever treated her so well; though he was a bit older, he was genuinely good to her.

Watching the man’s profile, she couldn’t help but think, Uncle is really handsome.

After being on edge in the hospital for two days, the doctor said during rounds that there were no major issues, just to go home and rest well.

Serena sighed with relief, finally able to go home.

These two days, Elias had been very busy, taking care of her while also working. At night, whenever she woke up, he immediately went over to inquire.

Seeing the dark circles under Elias’ eyes, Serena felt bad inside.

Back home, Serena spent a few days lying around; she had to attend school tomorrow.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to catch up with missed classes.

As the day turned to evening, Elias still hadn’t returned.

Nanny Livingston noticed her glancing toward the door occasionally, smiling, "Young Madam, the young master has something to do today; he’ll be back later."

"Oh~"

Serena felt a bit down; she didn’t know what was wrong with herself?

After staying in the hospital for two days, she felt more fragile once she got back—could it be due to the pregnancy?

Thinking this, she shook her head.

She went upstairs to bathe, needing to get up early for school tomorrow.

Serena finished washing and came out, wearing a nightgown, her feet sliding in small slippers as she emerged from the bathroom.

Drying her hair, she heard a sound behind her and thought Nanny Livingston had come in.

"Nanny Livingston, I’ve finished washing; does this milk-scented shower gel smell nice?"

Serena had gotten along very well with Nanny Livingston these past few days, wanting to share everything with her.

Serena extended her hand.

Elias regarded her delicate, fair arm in front of him, with a faint milk scent infiltrating his nostrils and teasing his senses.

It wasn’t just the milk fragrance; he also detected a subtle floral note.

The medicine from that night wasn’t enough to make him lose reason; it was this scent that completely ensnared him.

Serena continued drying her hair, her other arm still held aloft.

She hadn’t realized yet that the person next to her wasn’t Nanny Livingston.

"It smells wonderful, lovely." A deep male voice reached her ears, and the surrounding atmosphere began to feel amorous.

Instinctively, Serena pulled her hand back, removed the towel from her hair, and quickly glanced over.

Their eyes met.

In the man’s deep gaze, there seemed to be a bottomless vortex wanting to draw her in.

"What is it? Stunned?" The man chuckled lightly.

Realization dawned on Serena, and she laughed awkwardly, "I thought Nanny Livingston had come in."

"Uncle, you got back so late; have you had dinner?" Serena asked.

"I have." Elias’ voice was deep and husky.

Serena took his hand, "Uncle, can I go to school tomorrow? If I keep missing classes, I won’t be able to keep up."

Her voice grew smaller.

Gazing at her soft, jelly-like red lips, Elias couldn’t help himself and kissed her directly.

Serena wanted to dodge, pushing her hands against his chest, trying to push him away, but he was too strong; she couldn’t escape.

Her heart was pounding.

Finally, Elias noticed she was out of breath, her little face flushed. This little girl is really sweet!

Once she got some fresh air, Serena breathed deeply.

"Uncle, what are you trying to do?"

Elias raised his eyebrows, "Sorry, couldn’t control myself; Serena is too sweet!"

Serena, "..."

Upon regaining her senses, she dashed to the bed and hid under the blanket.

"Uncle, I have to get up early for school tomorrow, I need to sleep now."

Elias sighed helplessly.

He turned and left.

Serena heard the door close and peeked out from under the blanket, only to meet his amused gaze.

She wanted to retreat further under the covers.

"Serena, your hair is wet; you’ll get sick." Elias felt a bit guilty about his earlier loss of control, thinking he had scared the little girl.

"Come on, I’ll help you dry your hair." Elias indicated the blow dryer in his hand.

Neither spoke as the room was filled only with the sound of the blow dryer; the air was sweet with the scent of milk.

"Uncle, can you promise me something?" Serena said softly.
