Yang Lin had to admit that by the end of the meal, he hadn't eaten his fill. Not only was he not full, but his mind was also stuffed with a pile of information. He couldn't fully sort through it all even after settling into the high-class guest room arranged by Dr. Hammond.
There were two main points he was struggling with.
One was whether or not he should follow Dr. Hammond's suggestion and prevent the Blue Star's natural will from enacting its self-correction program. That is, to stand on the human side and fight against the titans, preventing the evolution of other species globally and safeguarding humanity's dominant position.
The other point of contention was his own current identity: was he a bug within the Blue Star's system, or an invading virus? He knew himself best, and after listening to Dr. Hammond’s words, Yang Lin realized that he might have already accelerated the animals' evolution before the titans even appeared. Thinking about it, his actions seemed similar to those of the titans, yet subtly different.
"Damn it, could I really be a virus? If so, wouldn't the titans correct me along with everything else?"
The thought sent a shiver down his spine. He couldn't even defeat a ten-meter-tall dinosaur, let alone titans tens or hundreds of meters high.
"No, if that's the case, I must find a way to get a few more titans." He muttered. "There are 17 titans on Blue Star, and I only have two. It's too insecure."
As he spoke, he opened the computer in the room and logged onto the Monarch organization's official website, locating the monster distribution map. Soon, the information for a titan closest to his location was displayed.
[King Kong - Ancient Great Ape]
[Location: Pacific Ocean, Skull Island]
[Current Status: Juvenile]
[Height: 30 meters]
[Weight: 70 tons]
Yang Lin wasn't surprised by the titan's information, but its species caught him slightly off guard. "Another great ape, very much like our Kong. But at 30 meters tall in its juvenile stage, it must be over a hundred meters when it grows up."
He chose this titan, named after a king, not because of any exceptional qualities it possessed, but because the Monarch organization had chosen it. They hoped Yang Lin could control this titan as a weapon for humanity to eliminate other titans. Their original plan hadn't intended to be implemented so soon, but after witnessing Yang Lin's ability to communicate with the Tyrannosaurus Rex, they became increasingly eager. Of course, they not only wanted Yang Lin to control the titan but also to accelerate its evolution alongside them, making it powerful enough to crush other titans. Only then could it defeat and kill the other titans on Blue Star.
However, this was merely Monarch's wishful thinking. Yang Lin had no intention of working for them. He wanted to control the titans himself, and if they were to be nurtured, he would be the one doing it. According to his agreement with Dr. Hammond, he would accompany Monarch's armed forces to Skull Island tomorrow to meet the handsome lad currently developing on Skull Island.
Seeing that it was already evening, Yang Lin, after clearing the mess in his mind, didn't go to sleep immediately. Instead, he quietly activated his Advanced Sharing ability. Instantly, he felt his consciousness uploaded into another body. When he opened his eyes, a dense jungle appeared before him, along with a pair of comical little paws.
"Boss, is that you?" As soon as the visual sharing was complete, a deep voice reached Yang Lin's ears. It was the Tyrannosaurus Rex from earlier that day.
"It's me. How is the mission I assigned you going?"
"I've taught all the dinosaurs on the island a lesson, and they all listen to me now," the Tyrannosaurus Rex replied.
"Very good. For the next period, you will organize and train them. When the time is right, I will take you all out of here. Then, you can get revenge and settle your grievances."
"Yes, Boss, I will definitely complete the mission!"
"Boss, that Allosaurus family over there seems a bit defiant. I'll go beat them up again."
"Go easy on them. You'll all be colleagues in the future; you'll see each other around."
"You got it!" With that, the Tyrannosaurus Rex let out a roar and ran off.
At the same time, Yang Lin chose to end the sharing. Watching two dinosaurs fight from a first-person perspective no longer held any appeal for him.
"Sleep!" With nothing else to do, he turned and flopped onto the bed. It wasn't that he didn't want to shower, but he had no idea how many cameras were installed in the room. If he were to be seen, it would be a complete loss.
Just as Yang Lin was falling asleep, the high-level members of Monarch, on the other side, saw this scene through the room's surveillance.
"Dr. Hammond, do you think he will truly help us?" a member of the organization asked with confusion.
Hearing this, everyone else in the room turned their gaze to Dr. Hammond.
Dr. Hammond simply smiled confidently. "He will. If nothing goes wrong, he will soon hate the titans more than any of us here."
As he spoke, he activated a projection screen. On the screen was the monster distribution map, but among the red dots representing the titans, a giant red dot was moving rapidly. It was unclear what Dr. Hammond had clicked, but virtual arrows appeared on the map. One of these arrows pointed towards the waters of the North Sea in the Dragon Country, specifically towards the direction of Haidun Island.
Seeing this arrow, everyone in the conference room suddenly understood.
"According to the latest information, a blue whale in this sea area has been influenced by a primal titan and is evolving into a second-generation titan."
"If Godzilla senses its aura, it will definitely go to challenge it. At that time..." Dr. Hammond didn't finish his sentence, but someone raised a question.
"Doesn't Godzilla not challenge immature titans?"
"Yes, Godzilla doesn't actively challenge titans that pose no threat to it. But there is one exception: MUTOs. The previous generation of MUTOs killed the previous generation of Godzilla."
"So, as long as Godzilla senses the presence of a MUTO, no matter how far, it will go and beat it up."
"And haven't we recently deciphered the MUTO's vocalizations?"
After saying this, Dr. Hammond stopped speaking. The people present understood his intentions from his words. However, they did not raise any objections. They knew that to achieve a greater ideal, some sacrifices were inevitable.
PS: The content in this phase is a blend of worldviews from Jurassic Park, the Godzilla trilogy, and Kong, which I have modified. In the Godzilla worldview, the Monarch organization is not strictly an antagonist, nor are they entirely good people. As for the titan theory from the previous chapter, it is also largely inspired by Godzilla's concept, which essentially means that monsters are part of Earth's food chain. When the environment is damaged and the ecosystem becomes unbalanced, monsters appear as scavengers to ensure the Earth isn't destroyed by humans. As for the 17 titans, I haven't included all the original 17 because some of them contain elements that cannot be written about, so I will be creating some original titans.
