The next morning, Yang Lin, who had woken up early, was taken by Dr. Hammond’s men to the port terminal of Nublar Island.
He had expected to depart immediately, but upon arrival, he discovered that Dr. Hammond had even arranged breakfast for him.
Fried dough sticks, soy milk, braised eggs, and even a thoughtful bowl of tofu pudding. The only thing that bothered Yang Lin was that the tofu pudding was salty.
And to make matters worse, it had cilantro and water parsley in it.
"Where did this damned white-skinned old man learn to eat like this? He must have studied in Ba Shu," Yang Lin muttered, picking up a fried dough stick and taking a large bite.
During this time, Dr. Serizawa was also brought over by a group of people.
Seeing Dr. Serizawa, Yang Lin suddenly felt like he had forgotten something.
"Right, what about those reporters from Ningnan TV? They weren't 'taken care of' by the people from International Genetic Company, were they?"
"I hope you've all been promoted by now."
"Never mind, I'll find you all when I control Nublar Island."
With that, he dipped the fried dough stick into his soy milk. As for the salty tofu pudding, he pushed it towards Dr. Serizawa.
"Here, eat, eat."
Although he didn't understand Yang Lin's broken Japanese, Dr. Serizawa still offered a grateful look.
He then picked up a spoon and began to eat heartily, praising it repeatedly and exclaiming "Yoshi!" as he ate.
By the time they finished their breakfast, a team of heavily armed mercenaries appeared on the dock.
Upon closer inspection, Yang Lin realized they were the same group that had brought them there before.
The only difference was that now, in addition to their standard weapons, they were carrying a considerable amount of heavy ordnance.
Gatling guns, portable grenade launchers – they had it all.
Besides these men, Yang Lin also noticed six armed helicopters in the sky.
With this kind of firepower and weaponry, they could probably take down a country in a backward African nation.
However, Yang Lin didn't find it excessive because this time, they wouldn't be facing ordinary animals, but colossal beasts.
As more personnel arrived, Li Chenggong, Hammond’s assistant, finally appeared.
"Gentlemen, let's depart. It's about a four-hour journey from here to Skull Island, and we should arrive around noon," Li Chenggong said, making a gesturing motion.
Yang Lin didn't say anything else, wiped his mouth, and boarded a helicopter.
Five minutes later, the six armed helicopters from the Monarch organization roared to life and flew away from Nublar Island, heading towards the vast expanse of the ocean.
Meanwhile, thousands of nautical miles away from Nublar Island, off the coast of Mexico, a colossal figure slowly emerged from the sea.
Following the appearance of this massive figure, the giant, monstrous bird that had previously flown out of a volcano also exited Mexican airspace at supersonic speed.
Under the gaze of countless eyes, the two immediately engaged in a chaotic battle off the Mexican coast.
In the initial phase of the fight, the fiery bird, utilizing its aerial advantage, continuously unleashed thermal rays at the colossal beast in the sea.
But the beast in the sea soon retaliated. With just a single blast of its breath, a highly radioactive exhalation sent the fiery bird fleeing.
When this scene was uploaded online by some tourists present, the entire Earth was thrown into an uproar.
The Monarch organization seized this opportunity to move from the shadows to the forefront, publicly revealing all information and names of the colossal beasts to the world.
It was then that people learned the monstrous bird was named Rodan, and the beast that defeated it was named Godzilla.
Yang Lin, aboard one of the armed helicopters, was completely unaware of all this.
If he had known, he would have understood the intentions behind Monarch’s actions.
Four hours later, as the armed helicopters pierced through a thick layer of clouds, an unimaginably massive island appeared before Yang Lin and the others.
From the sky, the island genuinely resembled a giant skull.
Perhaps sensing Yang Lin’s prolonged gaze, Dr. Serizawa suddenly spoke up.
"According to legend, Skull Island evolved from the skull of a primordial colossal beast, but that was millions of years ago."
"What? Formed from a colossal beast's skull?" Yang Lin’s eyes widened in surprise at Dr. Serizawa’s words.
From his vantage point, the island was considerably larger than Dolphin Island. If it was formed from a colossal beast’s skull, just how enormous must that beast have been in life?
However, upon recalling the giant leviathan he had seen at the bottom of the Arctic Ocean, he felt a sense of understanding.
As he was lost in thought, the six helicopters began to slowly approach the island.
The tremendous commotion instantly scared the island's animals into scattering in all directions.
Everyone was ready to disembark, but at that very moment, a giant log, propelled by immense kinetic energy, shot out from the interior of the island at high speed.
The lead armed helicopter didn't even have time to evade before the log impaled it from nose to tail, like a skewer through meat.
*Boom!*
With a deafening explosion, the multi-million-dollar armed helicopter disintegrated in mid-air.
The pilots and mercenaries inside were reduced to shreds.
Such a terrifying and shocking spectacle sent a shiver down the spines of the remaining crew.
Without a moment to spare, the helicopter pilots accelerated and began their descent.
Just as the aircraft were about to touch down, a majestic figure emerged from the dense jungle with heavy steps.
When one of the helicopters was less than a hundred meters from the ground, the figure leaped up and pulled the aircraft down.
Shortly after, another explosion echoed from the dense foliage below.
It was only then that Yang Lin got a clear look at the figure.
Its body was as sturdy as an iron tower, with marble-like muscle striations, coupled with a wild face and a human-like body structure.
This was unmistakably a colossal ape, a giant ape.
This very giant ape, upon its appearance, had already destroyed two armed helicopters and over a dozen elite mercenaries.
This further reinforced Yang Lin's belief: humans were truly insignificant in the face of colossal beasts.
However, at this point, the remaining four armed helicopters had all landed safely. Yang Lin and the others inside immediately disembarked and scrambled into the dense jungle.
They feared being discovered by the giant beast and becoming its next meal.
Perhaps having lost its target, or perhaps because the island had returned to its tranquility, the giant ape casually tossed the wreckage of the helicopter aside and ambled away, leaving behind a group of terrified individuals.
Only when the giant ape had completely disappeared did the others dare to take deep breaths.
Yang Lin, however, was different. He was filled with excitement, wishing he could immediately rush forward, catch up with the beast, and extend a friendly invitation.
"Join us, we'll provide food, lodging, and a partner!"
