Chapter 147 The Butterfly Effect

"Get back! Your opponent is me!"

At this critical juncture, Jing Mingqiu kicked the giant bio-beast away.

Then, the armor on Jing Mingqiu's right shoulder cracked open, and dozens of micro-missiles flew out. The huge explosion instantly engulfed the bio-beast.

Just then, soldiers from Aqiuhan were targeted by other bio-beasts. Jing Mingqiu quickly turned to support them, but a fierce wind sound suddenly came from behind him, and the armor's operation interface instantly turned red.

"Bang!"

Under the control of the automatic evasion program, Jing Mingqiu rolled like a lazy donkey, narrowly dodging the attack. A large hole was created in the reinforced ground of the laboratory.

Jing Mingqiu turned his head and saw that the bio-beast that attacked him was the same one that had just been hit by missiles.

Despite being battered, charred, and with visible bone fragments at its forelimbs after dozens of micro-missiles, the bio-beast's wounds were healing at a visible rate.

Jing Mingqiu continued to suppress it with fire while throwing a scan at it.

Ten seconds later, looking at the scan results from the system, Jing Mingqiu felt a mix of amusement and helplessness.

It turned out these bio-beasts weren't that strong. The research of America's top three pharmaceutical conglomerates had long been at a standstill.

However, after Jing Mingqiu released two miracle drugs and the medical pods that could regenerate severed limbs, they couldn't perfectly replicate them. But these innovations gave them new research ideas, leading to these bio-beasts with super self-healing capabilities.

"This is the legendary butterfly effect. I admit, I did underestimate modern high-level scientists a bit."

Jing Mingqiu chuckled self-deprecatingly, then flipped his wrist and exchanged a giant Zhanmadao (horse-chopping saber) from the system store.

For these monsters with super self-healing abilities, ordinary bullet wounds, as well as the shock and burns from explosions, could only temporarily slow them down.

To kill them permanently, cold weapons like beheading and dismemberment were more practical!

Meanwhile, Adi Wutan, frozen in place, waited for a long time with his eyes closed, but didn't feel the expected pain. He tentatively opened his eyes, only to discover that the bio-beast that had attacked him was being savagely manhandled by Jing Mingqiu against the wall.

"Professor Jing, thank you for saving my life! If you need any help, just ask!"

Jing Mingqiu swung the giant Zhanmadao, splitting the massive bio-beast in half. He watched as its wounds rapidly healed, and as the system had described, it was transforming into two medium-sized bio-beasts before his eyes, his brow furrowed.

"There is indeed a small bit of help needed here."

"These bio-beasts' genes have been modified to split and regenerate. Only by burning their corpses to ashes can they be completely eliminated. I came in a hurry and didn't prepare any large-scale destructive weapons."

"Adi Wutan, gather a few men and head east. Demolish that laser emitter and bring it over!"

"Professor Jing!" Adi Wutan looked around, his forehead sweating profusely. "There are no directional markers here. Which way is east?"

Just as Jing Mingqiu was about to point out the direction, the two medium-sized bio-beasts had recovered their mobility and lunged at him with roars.

Jing Mingqiu gripped the saber with both hands, swiped upwards, decapitating one of the bio-beasts. At the same time, he flicked his wrist, separating a small cluster of nanomachines that transformed into a small drone, hovering in front of Adi Wutan.

Immediately, Jing Mingqiu's voice came through, "Follow the drone and act according to its instructions!"

"Okay! I'll go right away!"

The situation was urgent, and Adi Wutan didn't waste words. He ran forward stumbling, following the drone, while rallying his troops.

When the bio-beasts were released from their cages, the research base's exits had been locked. The soldiers of Aqiuhan had nowhere to escape, and to survive, they could only follow Adi Wutan forward.

Fortunately, before the bio-beasts were released, they had been preset with Jing Mingqiu as the primary target. Coupled with Jing Mingqiu's live dissection of a giant beast, the strong scent of blood meant these Aqiuhan soldiers did not suffer many attacks.

Ten minutes later, the drone stopped in front of a massive machine, covered in dismembered limbs and saturated with blood. In the center was a sign written in English:

[Level One Warning: Laser Emitter, Do Not Touch]

Adi Wutan, having learned some English, barely recognized the text on the sign. "Professor Jing must be talking about this! But how do we dismantle such a large machine!"

As Adi Wutan pondered, the drone hovering above his head suddenly transformed, taking the shape of a flying sword.

Then, the flying sword circled the giant laser emitter and neatly sliced off the crucial emission structure.

Adi Wutan was stunned for a moment, then realized this was the part Professor Jing needed. He quickly dropped his gun and was the first to rush forward, grabbing the laser emitter and forcefully lifting it.

"What are you still standing there for? Hurry up and help me lift this for Professor Jing!"

"Okay, okay!"

As if waking from a dream, they quickly dropped their belongings and rushed to help.

With great effort, they managed to lift the core structure of the laser emitter and began their slow trek back, their feet sinking into the ground.

While Jing Mingqiu and his team were working together to fight the bio-beasts, across the ocean, at the White House of America, a grand press conference was being held, with the Commander-in-Chief of the US Armed Forces personally speaking.

"I have a tragic piece of news to share. During the testing of our new space-based weapon, 'God's Whip,' due to miscalculation and the influence of solar storms, the weapon's landing point deviated."

"According to our calculations, this attack had a high probability of landing in eastern Aqiuhan. We express our condolences and are willing to compensate double the economic losses and provide humanitarian aid."

Upon hearing this news, the world erupted.

Eastern Aqiuhan, wasn't that where Long Country was currently conducting counter-terrorism operations?

According to Long Country's follow-up reports, Professor Jing Mingqiu was leading Long Country's peacekeeping forces there to clear out terrorist organizations and America's illicit research bases.

Now, America was stepping forward, claiming the weapon went out of control and accidentally hit Aqiuhan. It was likely that "out of control" was a lie, and their true intention was a show of force!

America had anticipated this situation. After the initial backlash, a large group of experts and professors immediately stepped in to sway public opinion.

They argued about the inherent instability of new weapons, the need for bold innovation and practice, and how America was truly the world's leading technological power.

Furthermore, they claimed it was a coincidence and urged certain countries not to be so sensitive, to avoid seeing conspiracies everywhere, and to stop believing they were being targeted by others...

Although not explicitly named, their words clearly pointed towards Long Country.

When Long Country was weak, it had never backed down. Now that it had risen, it was even less likely to tolerate such actions. They immediately held a press conference to respond.

"Whether it was truly an accident, you know in your hearts!"

"The people of Long Country do not seek war, but they never fear it!"

"Finally, a reminder to America: do not say we did not warn you!"

When many believed Long Country was merely issuing a verbal warning, the spokesperson's face suddenly showed a playful smile, and he raised the microphone again.
