Chapter 214: Actually, I’m much older

"Si!" The examiner took a cold breath when he felt it.

There was even a cold sweat that covered his body when the killing intent hit him.

"What is this? How can a kid like this have this kind of killing intent?" That was the only thing that the examiner could think when it hit him in the face.

He wasn’t able to do a single thing as I stabbed the dagger into his neck.

There was even a moment where the examiner thought that he was dead when he felt the pain coming from his neck.

But in the end, he was still alive.

It wasn’t as if I could kill the examiner of my exam.

That was why I just used a precise prick of my dagger to draw a single drop of blood from the examiner’s neck before pulling my dagger back.

When it was over, the examiner looked at me in a daze as if he couldn’t believe what happened. While he stood there like that, he raised his hand up to his neck to feel the area that the pain was coming from.

Once he brought his hand down and he saw the blood that was on it, his expression changed once more.

He looked at me with a complicated look on his face, but I just calmly looked back at him as if I was asking, "Is that enough?"

In the end, the examiner couldn’t say anything as he just gave a sigh.

Turning around, he went over to the receptionist and said a few things before leaving in disgrace.

All of the spectators looked at me with shocked expressions that had a trace of fear in them.

After all, they knew the power that the guild master who was the examiner had. They knew that he wasn’t someone that could be taken down this easily.

Especially since his title when he was still an adventurer was the Steel Wall.

The reason he had been called this was because of his fortification magic that made his defenses even stronger than steel. He had been an up and coming tank that all parties wanted.

So they knew just how strong an attack that could break his defenses were.

When the receptionist came back from her daze, she looked at me with a strange look and said, "It seems that you’ve passed the exam. Please follow me, I’ll help you register as an adventurer."

I gave a nod before following her back to the front desk.

As we left, the other adventurers slowly came back to their senses and followed us back as well. It seemed like they all wanted to watch the fun with the way that they followed us.

When we were back at the main desk, the first thing that the receptionist took out was an orb.

Seeing this orb, everyone revealed a strange expression.

I didn’t need anyone to explain to me since I knew exactly what this orb was.

This was actually a special orb since it was used to test people to see if they had criminal histories.

"Please put your hand on this orb. This is your first test."

I didn’t say anything as I put my hand on the orb without any hesitation.

When the orb lit up blue, everyone seemed relieved.

That was because the blue colour meant that the person didn’t have a criminal history.

Yellow would mean a minor criminal history while red meant that this person was a full criminal.

After confirming that I wasn’t a criminal, the receptionist took out a card that she put on the table and said, "Please put a drop of blood on this."

I gave a nod before pricking my finger with my dagger and placing a drop of blood on the card, but this time I felt nervous. I hadn’t been nervous when they wanted to test my criminal record, I was just nervous since this card checked my stats.

I was worried that it would find that I had shared stats...

But in the end, it seemed like I had been worried for nothing.

The only stats that were shown were my own stats and not the stats that I received from the other avatars. It seemed that this card couldn’t find the effects that the Shared Stats Skill had.

It didn’t even show that I had the Shared Stats skill.

"Is this really it?" The receptionist couldn’t help asking in a surprised voice when she saw my card.

After all, the stats that were shown just didn’t match the performance that I had given.

The stats that this body alone had wasn’t that weak, it was just that it wouldn’t be a match for a former A Rank Adventurer like the guild master.

So she looked between me and the card with a strange look on her face.

I had to give a cough before she finally handed the card over to me.

Then as if she was apologizing, the receptionist said, "Since you’ve passed the exam, you have been given special permission to start at D Rank."

The other adventurers all revealed bitter smiles when they heard this.

He was a match for the former A Rank guild master, so starting him at D Rank was a bit low...

Still, they understood that a new adventurer just couldn’t start out as an A Ranker. They had to give him a lower rank since they couldn’t break the rules of the Adventurer’s Guild.

Letting him start at D Rank was already showing him preferential treatment.

I just took the card and said, "Thank you."

The receptionist felt like she should say something else, so she added, "Someone as young as you really shouldn’t be working as an adventurer...While we don’t have any rules to stop you, you should know that it’ll be dangerous work."

With an awkward cough, I said, "I think that there’s a mistake here. How old do you think I am?"

The receptionist seemed surprised to hear this before answering, "Aren’t you around 12 to 13?"

With another awkward cough, I said, "I’m actually much older than that. I just turned 18 this year. It’s just that I look young."

Everyone looked at me in disbelief when they heard this.
