Chapter 44 The Mad Bandit Long

"Although the park is managed by a computer system, some control systems still require manual operation. As a result, someone made an operational error, causing all the dinosaurs to escape their containment zones. Most of the tourists did not escape the dinosaurs' sharp claws. I was fortunate enough to hide in an emergency shelter and thus survived."

Bai Ye nodded and said, "Alright, what do you need me to do?"

"Take me out of the park!" Dr. Harding suddenly became agitated, looking at Bai Ye. "I have money, lots of money. Jurassic Park brought me wealth when it was operational. As long as you take me out of here, I can give you more money than you could ever spend."

"Money has no meaning to me..."

Bai Ye shook his head. What was the point of money in the World Battlefield? Could it make him stronger?

However...

"You have received a hidden quest."

"Hidden Quest: Help Dr. Harding leave the Jurassic Park area. Quest Reward: Pterodactyl Fossil x1, Chocolate Energy Bar x1."

Bai Ye swallowed the latter half of the sentence and looked at Dr. Harding with a wide smile. "But a lot of money does have meaning."

Dr. Harding was also a bit excited, but also worried. "Can you really take me out?"

Bai Ye spread his hands. "No matter how much I sweet-talk you, you have no other choice, do you?"

This statement left Dr. Harding speechless. He gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, I'll go with you."

"No problem," Bai Ye said. "By the way, do you have any food?"

Dr. Harding replied, "There are quite a few cans."

Bai Ye nodded, "That's fine, as long as it can fill our stomachs."

Food and water were essential, as Bai Ye's own supplies were running low. This was a good opportunity to restock.

Opening a can and eating, Bai Ye said, "To leave here, we need to plan ahead."

Dr. Harding nodded. "What should we plan? Food, fresh water. There are some weapons in the park, but they aren't advanced, mostly old hunting rifles. Besides that, there are two jeeps that can still be started."

"No, it's not that complicated," Bai Ye looked up. "None of that is important."

Dr. Harding looked confused. None of that was important?

Bai Ye said, "I don't know the way."

This time, it was Dr. Harding who was unable to refute. He then began rummaging through drawers. Soon, Dr. Harding found a map and said, "This is the floor plan of Jurassic Park. We are at this location..."

Bai Ye glanced at it. "Leaving here doesn't seem too difficult?"

Jurassic Park was indeed quite vast. Crossing it would take about four to five days. However, the management area they were in was only sixteen hours away from the nearest outer perimeter.

Dr. Harding gave a wry smile. "Although it's not far, the outside is now full of dinosaurs. Some of the surviving security personnel tried to leave, but they were all eaten. Moreover, we must go to this place before we leave."

Bai Ye looked at the map. "What place is this?"

Dr. Harding said, "Research Lab 3. I must retrieve the amber fossil."

"No problem," Bai Ye glanced at the map. "It's on the way. However, we'll have to travel on foot. Your Jurassic Park must have been destroyed many years ago, and the terrain outside has changed significantly. There are no roads suitable for vehicles anymore."

Dr. Harding nodded, having no objections. He had indeed survived here for many years and was tired of living underground, relying on canned food every day. Bai Ye was his only hope now. As long as Bai Ye could take him out of here, Dr. Harding would do anything.

Bai Ye finished two cans and picked up his backpack. "Then let's go."

Bai Ye was confident about completing the mission. After all, he still had one chance left with the gacha machine, and Bai Ye possessed fragments of the God Stone!

As long as he used a God Stone fragment to specify the gacha color, Bai Ye believed that a golden gacha would surely help him resolve everything.

Of course, that was a God Stone fragment!

Bai Ye did not think that Dr. Harding's quest reward could compare to a God Stone fragment, so sacrificing it was not worth it. If something truly unexpected happened, Bai Ye planned to make a run for it immediately and let Dr. Harding feed the dinosaurs.

But regardless, it was a very rare hidden quest. Since he had encountered it, he naturally had to find a way to complete it.

Bai Ye thought as he led Dr. Harding out of the building complex and began heading east.

Dr. Harding held the hunting rifle nervously. Because he had accepted the mission, Bai Ye was almost certain that Dr. Harding posed no threat to him. The hunting rifle and grenades had been returned to him.

Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the grass on the side. Dr. Harding immediately turned and raised his hunting rifle.

"Calm down," Bai Ye reached out and pressed the barrel of the gun. "This kind of noise is clearly from something small."

The grass continued to rustle, and then, a tree frog hopped out of the bushes.

"Let's keep moving," Bai Ye said. "Actually, there aren't as many dinosaurs as you might think? I haven't seen any along the way. I only encountered a few Velociraptors and a Ceratosaurus before."

Dr. Harding explained, "This area is the management zone, not the tourist area. The dinosaur aggregation points within the park are not nearby. Furthermore, the dinosaurs here are all cloned. Compared to real dinosaurs, although the restoration is very high, their lifespan is not long. According to my previous calculations, their lifespan generally lasts only 5 to 30 years."

Bai Ye asked, "How long has it been since the accident?"

Dr. Harding sighed, "It's been eleven years."

Bai Ye glanced at Dr. Harding. Eleven years of living in darkness without going mad – his will to survive was truly strong.

Dr. Harding continued, "So, as long as we're not too unlucky, the probability of encountering dinosaurs before leaving the management zone is indeed not high. Moreover, some herbivorous dinosaurs have very low aggression. Even if we encounter them, there's no need to worry too much."

Just as Dr. Harding finished speaking, a blurry silhouette suddenly flashed ahead, and then...

A dinosaur, entirely black as ink, with spikes on its back and golden stripes on its belly, slowly walked out from the side.

Dr. Harding's face turned grim. "Giganotosaurus. It's the same species as the Velociraptor, but more ferocious."

Bai Ye spread his hands. "So, is it your bad luck, or mine?"

The moment Bai Ye spoke, the Giganotosaurus happened to turn its head and meet Bai Ye's gaze, then...

Roar!

The Giganotosaurus instantly became agitated, roared in the direction of Bai Ye and Dr. Harding, and then charged towards them at full speed.

"Get back!"
