Chapter 1897: Chapter 1897: The Final Frenzy

The United Army desperately attempted to scale the city walls; however, dealing with them was incredibly easy for the Ogres. The only chance the enemy had was through attrition, similar to the strategy Starfire’s main forces used during their initial attacks—victory seemed improbable, leaving them to rely on depletion.

The United Army seemed resolute as well; the gathered forces seemed endless, once again bringing noise to the main city that had just a few days of peace.

At the front gates, the top players from both sides confronted each other. One side was led by Starfire with players on the city walls, consisting mainly of Starfire, Qionghua, and Glory, along with other allied guilds and numerous sub-guild members of Starfire.

With the capture of Dire Maul, Starfire now held vast territories, allowing them to autonomously distribute settlements within their lands.

The sub-guilds of Starfire naturally preferred the lands of this territory, with plenty of towns readily available nearby.

This also attracted many other large guilds who eyed the abundant resources of the region.

They did not expect to gain established towns but were willing to build settlements in the frontier areas.

In fact, it was no different from other main cities. After all, this was a max-level map abundant in resources, and many guilds were dissatisfied with their current guild settlements, aiming to expand.

As the United Army attacked, these guilds also volunteered to join in the defense.

Below the front gate was the United Army formed by twenty-plus leading super guilds from various administrative regions, representing about one-third of all super guilds, indicating the formidable lineup. Coupled with other large and sub-guilds sparing no resources to gather forces, the attack’s momentum was enormous.

Amid the leading figures, one person removed her hood, revealing her head full of golden hair, then she emitted a faint glow of Fire Element. The Fire Elements gathered around her like elves, making her seem exceptionally sacred.

On the city walls, led by Enchantress, Ephemeral Glory, and Broad Sea and Sky, while inside the city, children were engaged in repairs and construction, seemingly unfazed by the war outside, showing no signs of stopping.

“I’m quite surprised,” Enchantress said with a slight smile. “According to the witch’s intelligence, there was a shadow of you gods involved. Initially, I didn’t believe it, given there’s someone who wants to challenge you and is at odds with you. Unexpectedly, you really did participate.”

Edward glanced at the Temple of a Thousand Gods’ chairman beside him and also smiled, “I am also very surprised. Clearly, some people have matured and realized that there are no eternal enemies in this world, only everlasting interests.”

Ephemeral Glory said, “I’ve heard that Chairman Edward and Prairie Fire have a good relationship, didn’t expect that.”

Edward sighed, “To be honest, I don’t want to be enemies with Prairie Fire either. I still want to make a final effort. Why don’t we sit down and talk? The interests of the main city are too vast for just a few guilds to digest alone.”

Enchantress coldly laughed, “You’re thinking too much. Since you’ve ignited the flames of war, it’s already beyond your control when this war will end. You people think that by uniting, you’re so strong that you can force us to compromise. Although the chairman and vice-chairman are not here, I can express their intentions—you’re delusional.”

“Naive, are you still that naive?” The chairman of the Temple of a Thousand Gods sneered.

Broad Sea and Sky also gritted his teeth and said, “You’re despicable. What’s there to say, just fight.”

Edward shook his head, “Your position is not stable. As far as I know, the Ogres only number around two or three million, and if Prairie Fire’s main force doesn’t arrive, we will eventually wear them down. Without ace troops, even without us, you won’t be able to hold this place. Moreover, let me tell you another piece of news: the Ancient Elves of Feathermoon Stronghold have set sail and are preparing to land. You are already besieged from both inside and outside. Only by cooperating with us can you hold the main city and the resources. Prairie Fire’s arrogance only leads Starfire to become isolated.”

Tongtong couldn’t help but speak up, “You only know how to spout nonsense. Who has Starfire ever been afraid of? My big brother said if he could take this place, he could take other places too, and wouldn’t shamelessly snatch good things from others. Even if Starfire eventually loses this place, even if it becomes ruins, even if eventually given to the faction, Starfire would get nothing, and you shameless people wouldn’t even get a bone to chew on. I’m telling you, Starfire never knows compromise, even if we perish together. Besides, you don’t have that capability either.”

The faces of the guild leaders instantly turned ugly. Based on their understanding of Starfire, what Tongtong said was undoubtedly true.

Starfire had always been independent. When first established, they were besieged, but never compromised. To maintain independence, they would not accept investment from any consortium.

Yet, they managed to endure, becoming stronger, and despite the lack of consortium support, their benefits were significantly better than those from super guilds.

Especially after capturing the main city, Starfire’s benefits were undeniably excellent.

Having gone through all this, it instilled a strong sense of belonging in Starfire’s players, making defections negligible.

When Starfire speaks of perishing together, it certainly isn’t a bluff. By the end of this, they probably wouldn’t benefit either.

But now the United Army was at a point of no return; Prairie Fire was demolishing their settlements at an hourly pace, and such stubbornness would not easily stop.

At this stage, it wasn’t just about interest struggle. If they admitted defeat, super guilds would fall from grace, and their future would inevitably be less comfortable.

This battle had already evolved to a point where they didn’t want to fight but had to continue, completely beyond their control. Many guilds were starting to regret it, but it was too late for regret, as once the arrow is shot, there’s no turning back.

“Since words have gotten to this point, let’s see the truth in action. I really don’t believe your three guilds can contend with our twenty-plus guilds.” Edward’s eyes flashed with murderous intent. She tried to ease the situation, but it was unyielding, so they had to rely on their means.

“Then watch carefully. I must say, you truly live in a dream,” Enchantress sneered.

Edward shook his head slightly, “Time’s about up. Since Starfire wants mutual destruction, don’t blame us for being ruthless, so mutual destruction it shall be.”

Enchantress sarcastically remarked, “Mutual destruction, you really are naive. Oh, it seems you’ve prepared a quasi-forbidden curse, haven’t you.”

The chairman of the Temple of a Thousand Gods laughed coldly, “Your Starfire is too naive. We’ve joined forces to obtain a real forbidden spell scroll. What two million-strong ace army, I’d like to see if your so-called ace army, along with these ancient city walls and city, can withstand the power of a real forbidden spell. Time’s about up. Are you ready?”…
