Chapter 348: Chapter 348: The Person Cherished at the Heart’s Core
"Yes, yes, see how deeply affectionate he is; she must be the girl he cherishes above all else, right?"
"They’re both so young, if something happens to them, what a pity it would be."
"I’ve never seen such a stubborn young man; just how deep is this love that he’s willing to risk his life?"
"Yes, everyone else has left, but he’s the only one still there. What if another accident happens?"
In a small clay house, a slender figure just walked out.
Having heard every word of their conversation, Summer Sutton anxiously grabbed one person’s arm, "Who were you just talking about?"
The group shook their heads, indicating they didn’t know Adrian Walyon’s identity.
Summer Sutton pressed on, "Was it a young man about six feet two, with short black hair and striking features?"
Afraid they still wouldn’t understand, she quickly took out a photo on her phone, "Is it him?"
"Yes! Yes!" They nodded quickly.
"Where is he?" Summer Sutton looked at them in disbelief, asking frantically.
"Still in the valley. I heard a film crew had set up a location there, arrived last night, and he’s been searching all night, digging through the mud and stones until his hands are probably ruined!" a resident said.
The person went on about how they tried to persuade him to leave, but he wouldn’t listen.
But Summer Sutton had no time to listen carefully.
Her ears were buzzing; all she knew was that Adrian Walyon was here, he came to find her.
He’s still in the valley where the accident happened!
It’s still raining today; what if there’s another landslide on the mountain?
The village she’s in is quite far from the accident site.
After the incident, the crew evacuated urgently and was rescued by some local villagers on the way.
The mountain signal is poor, and her phone has been out of service since the incident occurred.
Adrian Walyon has already arrived; he must have called her numerous times, right?
Knowing she had an accident and not reaching her all night, he must be worried sick, right?
Thinking about the villagers’ words, Summer Sutton’s eyes reddened instantly.
Running through the rain on the mountain path, her tears uncontrollably fell as she ran.
Her vision blurred by tears, she stumbled several times along the way, unaware of it herself.
When she reached the scene of the accident, Adrian Walyon had his back turned to her, still struggling to dig through the piled mud and stones.
His figure was already somewhat thin; after a sleepless night, he seemed much more weathered.
Around them, all was silent.
In the vast empty valley, he was the only one crouching there in solitude.
Summer Sutton quietly stared at him for a long time, softly calling out his name with a voice full of indescribable bitterness, "Adrian Walyon!"
Her voice carried immense heartache as she called his name.
Adrian Walyon’s back stiffened for a moment; he turned his head slowly towards her, as if unsure he had heard correctly.
Summer Sutton ran towards him, her slender body crashing into his embrace, arms outstretched to hold him tightly.
"Adrian Walyon, I’m okay! I’m okay! There was just no signal last night, I tried to contact you, but I couldn’t reach you..."
She hugged him tightly, as if using all her strength.
Her entire being buried in his arms, her chest against his heart, their heartbeats merging as one.
Adrian Walyon’s body stayed rigid for quite a while; he scrutinized her again and again, making sure not to find any signs of injury on her body, then raised his hand to fiercely draw her into his embrace.
