Chapter 768: Chapter 770: The Helpful Little Girl

"I’ll sit here for a while," Jiang Wanru stood in front of the library, not eager to rush off. She saw a bench nearby and decided to sit there for a bit.

"Alright." Fang Manyin accompanied her, sitting in front of the library. Although the sun wasn’t particularly harsh today, it was still quite hot. She said, "Mom, how about I go buy two bottles of water? It’s really hot today; we need to drink more water."

"Go ahead." Jiang Wanru replied, sitting silently in front of the library. She had lived a happy life, the only regret being that her little daughter whom she had struggled to bring into this world hadn’t been able to grow up healthy.

Xiaoyu, if there’s an afterlife, I hope you can be born into a good family, to grow up healthy, safe, and happy.

Jiang Wanru sat for a while, then thought about walking around the area, but just as she took a few steps, she failed to notice a stone on the ground and twisted her ankle.

"Ah..."

Jiang Wanru fell to the ground, the place where she twisted her ankle throbbing with pain.

She tried to stand up but realized that it was inconvenient since she was wearing a skirt and there was nothing nearby to lean on for support.

"Be careful." A female voice sounded.

Jiang Wanru saw a girl in a white blouse approaching. The young woman had features as delicate as a painting, her hair tied in a high ponytail, looking youthful and beautiful, her pretty eyes bright and spirited.

"Auntie, let’s sit over there," Xu Nianhua helped her over to a bench nearby.

She had just borrowed a few books from the library and saw her fall.

"Okay, young lady, thank you." Jiang Wanru resettled on the bench, brushing off the dust from her clothes, and then turned to Xu Nianhua to ask, "Young lady, are you a student here? It’s the holidays; haven’t you gone home?"

Jiang Wanru’s gaze rested on Xu Nianhua’s face, finding the young woman exceptionally beautiful, which gave her a sense of warmth and familiarity.

"Yes, I’m a student here. I had some matters to attend to, so, I didn’t go home," Xu Nianhua looked around and seeing no one else, she asked, "Auntie, shall I take you to the hospital? Your leg should probably be checked out."

"No need, my daughter-in-law will be here soon." Jiang Wanru then inquired, "What is your name? Thank you so much for just now. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to stand up."

"Auntie, it’s a small matter. Anyone who saw you fall would have helped you up," Xu Nianhua said with a bright smile, thinking to herself that when she had seen Wan Hongxing before, she seemed very gentle and wise. But the woman in front of her appeared noble and elegant, the dark purple dress complementing her age beautifully.

Especially the scarf she wore, which matched her dress perfectly.

"Mom." Fang Manyin came back with the water and, seeing a stranger chatting with Jiang Wanru, hurried over.

Xu Nianhua saw her daughter-in-law approaching and quietly got up to leave.

"Manyin, let me introduce you." Jiang Wanru was about to introduce Xu Nianhua, who had kindly helped her up, but when she turned around, Xu Nianhua had already trotted away, leaving behind only her youthful and lovely silhouette and that pretty ponytail.

"Mom, who was she?" Fang Manyin unscrewed a bottle of water, handed it to her, and asked.

After taking a sip of water, Jiang Wanru felt much better and said, "I don’t know, I accidentally twisted my ankle just now, and it was that young lady who helped me up."

The moment Jiang Wanru finished speaking, Fang Manyin looked at her anxiously and said, "Mom, is your leg okay? Did you hurt anywhere else when you fell?"
