He turned to look at Lin Yaru, as if, during their conversation, Lin Yaru's thoughts had never strayed from this place.
"Yaru, Yaru, what's wrong?"
Ye Chen walked alone to the side and then gently pushed his body, allowing Lin Yaru to snap back from her reverie.
"Oh, it's nothing. What, what did you say to him?"
"Oh, I also wanted to tell you that I need to go out with Anying for a bit. Then we need to confirm the identities of these people and find out who they really are, which should be of great help to our future endeavors."
"Oh, do you need me to go with you?"
"If all three of us were to go, it would be too conspicuous, and I'm afraid it would arouse suspicion from our superiors. So, it's better if Anying and I go alone; there shouldn't be too much of a problem."
Upon leaving the hotel, Anying just turned back to look at Ye Chen.
She was quite aware of the enormous psychological pressure Ye Chen was under at this moment. If all of this were left to Lin Yaru alone, these people would simply be unable to cope.
"When I saw Miss Lin's reaction just now, it seemed quite intense. After all, this matter is related to her, and surprise was inevitable. Even I had not anticipated that a mysterious organization had been monitoring her from behind for so many years."
"Many years? Are you sure?"
"To be honest, when Miss Lin was asking me earlier, I beat around the bush and didn't tell her everything. But in reality, based on those intermittent signals and previous analysis, I am almost certain that they have been monitoring her for no less than three years."
"What? More than three years? Are there really that many?"
When Ye Chen heard this number, he felt a shiver of horror.
He had never imagined that there could be an organization that would monitor someone for a full three years, and during these years, they had not made any overt moves but were simply carefully planning and arranging everything in the vicinity.
"Three years is a conservative estimate. How much longer beyond three years, I can't be entirely sure, but at the very least, it has been three years. This much I can assert with a hundred percent certainty."
"Goodness, just what kind of powerful organization is this? And they have been able to do so much from the shadows. If that's the case, it does sound like a bit of trouble for us."
"Yes, I've never before come across an organization that has managed to maintain surveillance for three years. It's apparent that they have devoted a great deal of effort here, even potentially integrating into the lives of the locals."
"So, what are they waiting for now? I suspect they're awaiting a signal or even an instruction. Perhaps the timing isn't right for them yet, so they haven't made their move."
"Exactly, that should be it. So, in a way, it's fortunate for us. These people have lived here for so long and should've assimilated into the local culture to some extent. At the very least, some of the locals should have a rough idea about them."
"Then it shouldn't be too difficult for us to investigate their identities and some specific details, right?"
"Yes, I think that's the case."
"However, I'm now worried about one thing: over these three years, could they have frequently changed the surveillance operatives? If they really have been switching them out often, then it certainly poses a significant challenge for us."
"Normally, including the organization Hei Hu that I used to work with, we actually never rotate our undercover agents because the process involves too wide a range of factors. Familiarizing with a new place is a new task for them. So unless something unexpected happens, they generally wouldn't change anyone."
"That's good to hear. If that's the case, then I believe we do have some leverage. But, frankly, the opponent seems to be getting more formidable."
"Truthfully, this is the first time in many years that I've encountered such a significant challenge. Still, the greater the challenge, the more excited I become. I think these issues shouldn't be too difficult for us."
"Alright, let's not talk about that anymore. Let's go. If we can confirm the identities of these people at the same time, we'll immediately leave this city and head to a new one. At the very least, knowing who they are, even if they go to that city, we will know who our target is."
"Yes, that was my point."
"Over there, if we just cross this street, there should be a restaurant nearby."
Saying this, Anying pointed in that direction, then turned her head to look back, and the two of them went straight through a small alley.
Upon reaching the entrance, they glanced at the various shops lining the street, but the western restaurant here seemed somewhat out of place.
Afterwards, they opened the door and walked in, just in time for the lunch hour, with several tables already occupied. The two found a quiet corner to sit down in.
Since entering, Anying began to survey the surrounding environment, for in any new location, she had to constantly check whether there were surveillance cameras in the restaurant, how many there were, and what their distribution points were like.
Finally, to understand what kind of rendezvous it was, these were things she would usually be aware of.
