Chapter 259: Chapter 140: Only Want to Please You (Part 4-2)
"I was downstairs the whole time and didn’t go upstairs. If I had gone upstairs, I would’ve known the child had a fever..."
"Fine, I won’t say you didn’t take care of the child, but let’s talk about your financial situation now. Are you planning to let my grandson suffer with you in the future?"
Rebecca Quentin lowered her gaze, biting her lip, "I won’t let him suffer."
"You are making the child suffer by staying with you!!"
Rebecca Quentin’s eyes reddened, and she choked out, "I don’t have the financial ability now, but that doesn’t mean I won’t in the future."
Mrs. Geoffrey pressed aggressively, "What financial ability will you have in the future, relying on marrying someone? Humph, what well-off man would want to marry you and your little burden? Even if someone does marry you, who knows what kind of abuse my grandson will suffer in that family."
"I don’t necessarily need to marry someone to have financial ability."
"Don’t speak anymore, I must take Andrew back to New York."
Rebecca Quentin shook her head forcefully, "You can’t do this..."
Mrs. Geoffrey insisted firmly, "I’ll have Howard come over to discuss this with you later, figure out how to solve it, but Andrew is absolutely returning to the Geoffrey family."
"No..."
At that moment, Mrs. Geoffrey picked up the sleeping Andrew from the cradle.
Rebecca Quentin tried to stop her, but two bodyguards restrained her.
Rebecca Quentin struggled hard, shouting, "No, Andrew, Andrew..."
She watched helplessly as Mrs. Geoffrey took Andrew away, collapsing weakly to the ground.
She didn’t know how much time had passed before she regained her composure and hurriedly picked up her phone.
She dialed the number she thought she would never call again in her lifetime, anxiously bringing it to her ear.
"Hello..."
"Hmm," Howard Geoffrey’s deep voice came through.
Hearing Howard’s voice, Rebecca Quentin cried out, "Your mother took Andrew away, Howard... I beg you, let Andrew come back to me..."
"When did this happen?"
"Just now."
"Don’t worry, I’ll call her."
"Okay."
A few minutes later, Howard called back.
Rebecca Quentin quickly answered, "Hello..."
Howard’s voice came through, "I can’t reach her now; she might already be on a flight back to New York."
Rebecca Quentin suddenly sobbed uncontrollably.
Howard comforted her, "Don’t worry, I promise I’ll bring Andrew back to you."
"I’m heading to New York now, Howard, please persuade your mom; I’m coming right away..."
"Alright."
Ending the call, standing in the New York office building, Howard Geoffrey gazed emotionlessly ahead.
Her voice sounded truly sorrowful, and his heart twisted with hers.
He never wished to cause her any tears, but he had no choice...
Indeed, he had told his mother how adorable the child was after returning from Alton, also leading her to see the child.
He knew, given his mother’s nature, she wouldn’t be able to resist if she saw the child, and thus, she’d take Andrew back to New York at all costs.
As long as the child came to New York, she would surely follow...
He was forced to adopt this strategy because she was utterly unyielding, and he really had no way to handle her.
Giving up was impossible!!
In his world, the words "give up" never existed, and towards her, he would never let go!!
The next day, morning.
Rebecca Quentin dragged a simple suitcase out of the airport...
From a distance, Jason Wood walked towards her.
"Miss Quentin, long time no see."
Rebecca Quentin responded politely with a faint smile, "Where’s Howard?"
Jason Wood took her luggage and replied, "The boss had several meetings this morning, so he sent me to pick you up."
Rebecca Quentin nodded, "No problem."
She flew here on a commercial flight, naturally not as convenient as his private jet, so she boarded a flight late at night and just arrived this morning.
"Miss Quentin, let me take you to rest first."
"Thank you."
Jason Wood placed Rebecca Quentin’s luggage in the trunk and then opened the car door for her.
Rebecca Quentin got in, her mind completely focused on Andrew.
Perhaps because she was distracted, Rebecca Quentin didn’t realize that Jason Wood had driven into a heavily guarded apartment building.
She followed Jason Wood all the way into an elevator to the thirty-sixth floor...
It wasn’t until she saw him take out a key to open the door that she belatedly reacted, looking at the unfamiliar door, "Is this a hotel?"
The surroundings looked sophisticated, with elegant European paintings in the corridors, not like an ordinary hotel.
Jason Wood smiled, "No, this is the boss’s apartment in New York."
Apartment?
Rebecca Quentin was shocked, what was she doing at his apartment?
"Never mind, I won’t rest, I’ll go find Howard."
"Miss Quentin, you took a night flight; you must be exhausted, so rest a bit! The boss has several meetings today before flying to France tomorrow for the Hope City project tender event, so even if you go to the office now, he probably won’t have time for you!"
Rebecca Quentin reluctantly sighed, "Fine."
Jason Wood opened the door and took her luggage inside.
Rebecca Quentin looked around, realizing it was a large studio apartment.
His standards for living quality were high, so everything visible was upscale and expensive.
The decor seemed designed to his taste, with black as the main tone, reflecting his usual understated style, fitting his enigmatic personality.
Jason Wood opened Howard’s room door and said politely, "Miss Quentin, you can nap in the room."
Rebecca Quentin sat on the sofa, "No need, I’ll wait for him here."
"Alright, I have other matters to attend to; I’ll leave now. If you need anything, you can call me; you should have my number."
"Hmm."
Jason Wood then closed the door and left.
Exhausted, Rebecca Quentin leaned back on the sofa, having had no sleep all night, the fatigue washing over her.
She missed Andrew so much; not seeing him for over ten hours left her heart feeling empty, as if it had been hollowed out.
