Chapter 158: No Need to Force Yourself
"He didn’t look like her brother, but would be too old as a boyfriend," the doctor thought to himself.
"I’m her fiance."
"I see. Please come inside," the doctor said.
As Zachary spoke, Ralph cast a glance at him.
"No wonder Yvonne has an entertainment company once she started her career. It was not due to her powerful family background, but because Zachary was supporting her," Ralph wondered inwardly.
He was quite surprised that Zachary was her fiance.
Inside the room, the doctor filled Zachary in on Yvonne’s condition.
"To sum it up, the pain was caused by uterine spasms."
"Uterine spasms?" Zachary frowned and asked, "She’s young and healthy. What could cause the problem?"
"Nothing is wrong with her uterus. But her body is especially sensitive to certain kinds of drugs. For example, the Plan B pill she took has caused allergy reactions in her."
"Plan B pill, the emergency contraceptive drug?"
His eyes went cold hearing the words.
Lying in the bed, Yvonne detected his mood swing. She somehow felt guilty and looked away.
After the doctor left, he asked her with a frosty voice, "When did you take the pill?"
"This morning, I bought it at a pharmacy... It was only because you didn’t use condoms..."
It was the first time she took such medicine.
She thought her body wouldn’t react to it, and Zachary would never know.
"How could I know it may cause severe allergies?" she thought, still trembling in pain.
Zachary paced back and forth in the room without speaking a word.
He tried his best to control his anger, and finally, he asked with a collected voice, "Yvonne, even if you don’t want to get pregnant with my baby, you don’t have to resolve to self-harm, do you?"
Feeling his unprecedented anger, she became overwhelmed all of a sudden. "I didn’t know... I couldn’t know my allergies..."
She really didn’t know. She had never taken a Plan B pill before.
"We’re not even married, and I’m so young... I wouldn’t know what to do if I get pregnant..."
"Do you think I’m that kind of unreliable man who couldn’t take care of you?"
He wasn’t mad at her for not wanting his baby, he was furious because she was willing to hurt herself so severely just to avoid the chance of having his child.
He felt like she wanted to get away from him all the time.
And in fact, she would leave once the opportunity presented itself.
She was never prepared to be with him forever. She must go back to the real life, and that was why she couldn’t get pregnant.
Moreover, she traveled to her prelife after giving birth to her baby.
What would happen if she got pregnant again? Where would she be sent to?
She didn’t want to part with the real Zachary forever.
She didn’t want to part with her babies either. She didn’t even have a chance to see them.
Angela and Daniel... Her beloved children...
Therefore, she couldn’t afford a single mistake.
That was what this Zachary would never understand.
He was truly disappointed this time.
"If you don’t want to have kids, you can just tell me. I still couldn’t believe you would go so far just to distance yourself from me," Zachary said with a cold voice as he pulled a mocking sneer.
"Since you don’t want to have anything to do with me, I will never touch you again."
"There’s no need to force yourself."
As he spoke, he slammed the door hard and left.
...
Once Zachary closed the door, Yvonne burst into tears.
She curled up in bed and hugged herself.
After taking the painkillers, her belly no longer hurt, but her heart ached so much.
She cried out loud like a helpless kid, her body shivering ceaselessly.
She never knew love could be such a heartbreaking thing.
She never knew two people in love could still hurt each other so harshly.
She had no idea what she should do next.
Choking on her sobs, she had been drowned in sorrows. She could no longer tell whether it was the real her or the original Yvonne in this body was in pain.
"I understood God moved in a mysterious way, but why it all felt like a cruel joke?" she screamed inwardly.
After going through so many things together, she and Zachary finally got married and had kids. Why she had to suffer again?
At the President’s office of the Leinster building, Zachary stood in front of the window in the dim light of a floor lamp.
President’s office.
It was already dark when he arrived at the company.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling window was the spectacular night view of Hiltonan, flashing neon lights, busy traffic, and the city bustle.
But on the other side of the window, solitude was his only company.
"Mr. Leinster."
On the mahogany desk, his phone rang. It was Mr. King.
"Speak."
"You’ve instructed me to keep an eye on Ms. Taylor. She has been discharged from the hospital and the driver sent her back to the Lord Villa. The maid said she didn’t have too much appetite, but still ate a little. Everything seems to be fine. It’s just that ... Ms. Taylor has cried so much that her eyes were red and swollen. The maid has brought her some ice."
Zachary remained silent for a few seconds and then answered with a low voice, "I see."
He hung up the phone and looked outside the window again.
Although they just quarreled, he still cared for her.
He had Mr. King keep an eye on her because he cared about her feelings and worried about her health.
He took off his suit jacket and seated himself on the chair. Dressed in a plain white shirt, he appeared to be a little lonely.
He seemed to be a bit tired too. He closed his eyes and pinched between her eyebrows, his expression unreadable.
Before, he only wanted to be with her.
But then, he wanted her undivided attention.
Even if he could get her undivided attention, he would just want more. He would doubt whether she was truly devoted to their relationship.
Alas, love could render people insatiable.
Yvonne had cried her heart out in the afternoon. She lost track of time and fell asleep with tears on her face.
When she woke up again, the driver said Zachary had sent him to take her home. She didn’t throw a tantrum and went home with her eyes swollen. The maid was very concerned and brought her some ice. She didn’t turn down the kindness.
That night, Zachary came home very late. He woke her up when he got into the bed, but she pretended to be asleep.
Then she felt she was tightly hugged from behind into a warm embrace.
Her heart melted instantly.
They didn’t say a word to each other till the next morning.
She waited until he left the house before she stopped pretending to be asleep.
"Ms. Taylor, do you plan to go out today?"
"Yes."
She didn’t have any work schedule today, but wanted to take a walk and escape from her sorrows.
But before she went out, she received a text message that hurt her feelings deeply.
"Ms. Taylor, I thought you would be my sister in law soon, but it seemed like you’ve fallen from grace."
And there was a photo enclosed.
...
Yvonne stayed expressionless while looking at the photo Simon sent her.
In the photo, Zachary and a woman were shopping at the mall.
The woman was no stranger to Yvonne. She was the notorious "ugly Marilyn". Not long ago, Yvonne forced her to remove her makeup in public and made her name on social media.
Strangers wouldn’t shop at the mall together, let alone a woman and a man.
"The whole world has known about the beef between me and Marilyn, and Marilyn is basically throwing herself on him. Doesn’t he know? How could he hang out with my enemy?" Yvonne complained inwardly, feeling infuriated.
She didn’t bother to text Simon back but began to rummage through her wardrobe. She took out five sets of jewelry, dozens of pieces of new clothes and threw them all on the bed.
"Mr. Butler!" Her voice was full of anger.
"Yes, Miss Taylor. What’s the matter?"
"Have two people come with me. I want to return all of these things," said she, her expression cold as frost.
If he believed he had the right to mingle with other women, she no longer wanted his gifts.
If any woman could have the same things he offered to her, those luxury items wouldn’t be worth a penny to her.
"But..." The butler didn’t know how to respond to her anger. "These are all gifts from Mr. Leinster, and I’m merely a butler..."
"If you don’t help me, I’ll do it by myself, and I will tell Zachary you turn a blind eye to my requests."
"But... Fine, I’ll help." The butler broke into a cold sweat.
He and other employees all knew how capricious Yvonne could be sometimes.
Therefore, although reluctant, he still sent two people to help her. They stuffed all those priceless gifts into a car and drove to the mall.
"Miss Taylor, these gifts are the latest models of the season. Many celebrities and socialites are still on the waiting list.
"And these jewels, they were bought from a world tour exhibition, the best of the decade. Are you sure you want to return them all? It would be such a pity!"
But all that Yvonne was thinking about was that Zachary might have bought Marilyn the same kind of gifts, the idea of which enraged her even more.
"Cut the crap. I just don’t want them anymore."
"Miss Taylor, are you sure about it?"
"I’m absolutely sure!"
"Then I will help you with the return process. But because the amount is huge, the money may only be returned to the original bank account within two weeks..."
Yvonne didn’t care a bit about the money. It was Zachary’s money anyway.
"That’s fine with me," said she.
Then she left the gifts to the butler and walked away without a hesitation.
"Zachary, you can hang out with whatever women you want, and I don’t care!" she told herself.
"Zachary, the promotion campaign of the new boutique seems to be a success."
"Yes," said Zachary, who looked quite indifferent, but his tone was not as cold as usual, which encouraged Marilyn.
"I think we should do it more often. My schedule is empty recently. I can come to the boutique and attract more customers to the mall. Don’t you think so?"
Today, a new brand of the Leinster Group was set up at the mall, and Marilyn was the celebrity endorser. The two of them were here to attend a business event.
But still, Yvonne’s jealousy was actually excusable.
The photo Simon sent to her was indeed misleading, and Zachary’s attitude towards her wasn’t reassuring at all. It was difficult for her not to overreact.
Just then, Marilyn spotted someone familiar.
She recognized Yvonne walking out of a boutique, with two people behind her.
"Why is she here today?" Marilyn wondered to herself.
