Chapter 638: Chapter 339 Be Careful, Evelyn Claire
Wendy slapped the chopsticks down on the table, "What? This woman must be crazy.
It was her who sabotaged me in front of Director Forrest, and Jane Quinlan helped me out. And now she dares to badmouth me behind my back? This woman is shameless."
"Was it Evie who spoke ill of you? No way, she doesn’t seem like that kind of person."
Wendy glared at Evelyn Claire, "What do you know?
That woman’s malice is beyond normal."
"So, was it really you who sent that package?"
"Of course not. Why would I use my name to send Jane Quinlan that creepy package when I’m just bored? Do you think I’m sick?"
Evelyn Claire stuck out her tongue, "But Evie said it was you who sent it."
"I said it was her," Wendy retorted irritably, "Evie Larkin just won’t leave me alone.
She’s been kicked out and still she frames me, is that it?
No way, I can’t let this go, I need to find someone to deal with her properly, she’s driving me mad."
"Wendy, have you ever thought that the package might have been sent by Jane Quinlan herself?"
As soon as Evelyn Claire’s words fell, Wendy turned her gaze to her, "Fancy that, that thing is ominous."
"But some people are born not believing, aren’t they?"
"It’s not about believing, but the person who sent the package to Jane Quinlan probably believed, otherwise..."
Before she could finish, Evelyn Claire’s phone chimed once.
It was a text message sound. Wendy glanced down at the phone’s screensaver unintentionally and frowned, a background of Fuji Mount in Japan?
It was the first time she saw Evelyn Claire’s phone screensaver.
If it weren’t for the discussion yesterday with Jane Quinlan about the mastermind behind loving Japan, she wouldn’t have paid attention.
But coincidentally, she was now very concerned about it.
Considering Evelyn Claire’s good relationship with Evie Larkin, she felt even more suspicious.
Perhaps it was Evie Larkin who had instructed Evelyn Claire to do this.
Evelyn Claire took her phone, swiped the screen, and said impatiently, "Eldoria Mobile, why do they send texts every day?"
After speaking, she put down the phone and looked at Wendy, "Wendy, you haven’t finished what you were saying, otherwise, what?"
Wendy came back to her senses, "Otherwise, why would that person send such a thing to Jane Quinlan? It must be because they believe it would work."
"Is that beheaded doll really that scary?"
Wendy frowned, a beheaded doll? She had never mentioned to Evelyn Claire that the creepy package contained a beheaded doll.
Nobody else in the company knew either.
Apart from Evie Larkin, no one else would tell her.
And upon reflection, Evelyn Claire had clearly been leading her to suspect Jane Quinlan as the culprit.
Though she couldn’t say Jane Quinlan was innocent.
But based on what she knew about Jane Quinlan, Evie Larkin, and Evelyn Claire.
The probability was higher that Evie Larkin and Evelyn Claire were behind it.
Evelyn Claire waved her hand in front of Wendy, "What’s wrong?"
"Is that beheaded doll really that scary?"
"I only saw it once; it was sort of disgusting," Wendy replied.
Pointing at Evelyn Claire’s phone, she said, "I see your screensaver is Fuji Mount, are you planning a trip there?"
The screensaver had turned off, Evelyn Claire sighed, "Where do I have that much spare money?
Our company seems to make a lot of money, but I spend a lot too, can’t save anything each month." "Is that place good? I haven’t looked it up yet.
I’m planning to go somewhere this summer.
But haven’t decided where yet."
"Wow, it’s really cool, but if you really want to travel to Japan, going in winter might be better.
You could also go skiing in Hokkaido, which is my dream."
Seeing the sparkle in her eyes, Wendy felt that her guesses were probably right on point.
"Wendy, when are you going? Otherwise, I could try hard for the next half year to save up for the flight and admission tickets.
I’ll go with you then, and I can bunk in your hotel,"
"You think you can just bunk in hotels? I doubt the travel agencies would agree with that."
"Since it’s a trip for fun, there’s no need to go through a travel agency.
I know Japanese; I can be your guide."
Looking at Evelyn Claire, Wendy felt a bit surprised: "You know Japanese?"
"Yeah, I majored in Japanese as an elective in college, and I even have a level-one certificate, so you can rest assured."
Wendy sized her up, "Well, you’re quite capable. I hadn’t realized you had it in you."
"So, I’ll be your guide, and you take care of my meals and accommodation, deal or no deal?"
Evelyn Claire looked excited, as if they were going to set off tomorrow.
Wendy pursed her lips, "We’ll see, I don’t really feel much for Japan."
Evelyn Claire pursed her lips; her excitement was for naught.
Wendy stood up and picked up the tray: "I’m not eating anymore. You eat on your own. I’m going."
"Oh right, don’t forget what I just said.
That Jane Quinlan is not a good person, be careful around her."
"Yeah," Wendy lacked the desire to even look at her, as the person was already far away.
After returning to the office, her mind was inexplicably clearer than ever.
If she believed Evelyn Claire again, then she really would be foolish.
No, she has to first check if Evelyn Claire has that tattoo on her ankle.
But wait, Director Forrest had just sent someone to inspect during the banquet the night before last.
Evelyn Claire was clearly in the line-up; if she really had a tattoo, how could the inspectors have missed it?
She raised her hand somewhat irritably and bit her finger.
Strange, could there be a problem with her guess?
But there was no reason, just recently her sixth sense genuinely hinted that it was Evelyn Claire.
No, she must find an opportunity to visit Evelyn Claire’s house.
Without seeing it for herself, she would not feel reassured.
If it really was Evelyn Claire, she would certainly have to give the two women a slap each.
They were evil, indeed they had caused her much suffering.
While she was deep in chaotic thoughts, Jane Quinlan came out of Kay Forrest’s office intending to throw away her lunchbox.
Seeing her distressed expression, Jane Quinlan glanced at her but did not say much.
After she finished throwing away the trash and came back to see Wendy still in the same state, she walked over holding her arms.
"Middle of the day, why do you look so troubled?"
Wendy hesitated for a moment then looked up and asked, "Have you ever considered that it wasn’t Evie Larkin who did it, but someone she hired to do it?"
Jane Quinlan raised her eyebrows, "Definitely wasn’t done by her in person, the first package was mailed by a passerby.
The person said that she was asked to help mail the package by a woman who was wearing a mask, so the mailer did not know what she looked like."
After finishing, she laughed: "Have you been racking your brain these past few days trying to crack the case?"
"Mind your own business."
Jane Quinlan shook her head: "I’m not minding you, don’t want to mind you, okay?"
As she turned and pushed the door to enter, Wendy suddenly asked: "Jane Quinlan, have you ever offended anyone from the assistant department before?"
"Before? How long ago?"
"After you joined the company," Wendy said, somewhat impatiently.
Jane Quinlan shook her head: "I haven’t had any direct conflicts with them, but I think everyone in the assistant office probably doesn’t like me.
As for the reason... it’s probably the same as what you think."
"Do you know Evelyn Claire?"
After looking at her for a moment, Jane Quinlan nodded: "I know who it is. She previously betrayed Evie Larkin, so I’ve paid attention to her."
"So, you’re not familiar with her, and you haven’t offended her, right?"
Wendy’s question left Jane Quinlan a bit puzzled: "What’s the matter? Why ask this."
"You ask too many questions, just answer me."
Jane Quinlan nodded: "No."
That’s strange, with no grievance and no enmity, would she harm Jane Quinlan just because of Evie Larkin?
"Anything else you want to ask me?"
Wendy shook her head: "No, that’s it. Oh, and be careful around Evelyn Claire in the future."
"Then I’m going in for a nap."
Wendy said nothing, and Jane Quinlan pushed the door and went in.
Kay Forrest asked her, "Why did it take you so long to throw away the trash?
I thought you had been abducted by someone."
"If it were outside, I might indeed be abducted because I’m too likable.
But this is the company, who doesn’t know I am your fiancée? Abducting me would mean offending you."
"Then what were you dawdling for?"
Jane Quinlan shrugged and walked over to lie on the sofa: "I had a chat with Wendy."
"What do you have to chat about with her, got nothing else to do?"
"She seems to be also investigating the package thing, just exchanging some information since we’re idle anyway."
Kay Forrest gave her a glance: "Alright, better take a good nap with this time."
Jane Quinlan pouted: "Alright, good afternoon."
She pulled the thin quilt over herself, ready to sleep.
But after closing her eyes, she thought about what Wendy just said, Evelyn Claire? Wendy normally wouldn’t inquire about her relationship with Evelyn Claire without a reason.
