A Ray of Sunshine

Chapter 639 - 340: People Should Live Freely

Chapter 639: Chapter 340: People Should Live Freely

Kay Forrest looked at her with both eyes wide open and said seriously, "Why aren’t you closing your eyes?"

Jane Quinlan chuckled, "Mind your own business, why keep staring at me?"

"I’ve discovered that you really need supervision, get on with it, sleeping more is good for your health."

"Got it," Jane felt a warmth in her heart and closed her eyes to sleep first.

She remembered to be careful of Evelyn Claire.

The next day was the fifteenth of the first lunar month, and the Skyward Group was very humane in this aspect.

Most staff without work could take a day off.

Early in the morning, Kay Forrest and Jane Quinlan went to Grayson Forrest’s place to celebrate the festival together.

Knowing they would come, Grayson didn’t invite anyone else.

Ever since Kay met Jane, he had been going home more frequently.

Now Grayson felt that finding Jane as a daughter-in-law was indeed worthwhile.

With a daughter-in-law, he had his son back, he was no longer a lonely old man.

During the meal, Grayson Forrest asked Jane Quinlan, "Jane, what time are your parents arriving tomorrow?"

"It’ll be after two in the afternoon."

Grayson Forrest nodded and glared at Kay Forrest, who frowned, "Dad, why are you glaring at me?"

"You’re not sensible. For such matters, you should have arranged someone to pick them up to show our sincerity."

Upon hearing Grayson’s words, Jane couldn’t help but laugh, "Uncle, you are wronging Forrest here.

He arranged for a car. The driver will leave at three tomorrow, and after arriving around eight, my parents will set off with him."

Kay Forrest helplessly shook his head, "Jane, now you know I’m not the biological son, right?

Luckily it’s winter now, and the snow hides everything.

If it were summer, the snow outside would probably be up to a person’s height."

Grayson Forrest grunted, this cheeky kid, always able to joke around.

"So, we wronged you for a moment, look how you exaggerate, even coming up with not being a biological son."

"If you weren’t my own son, I wouldn’t even bother with you."

As soon as Grayson finished speaking, Jane Quinlan immediately started serving food to Kay Forrest, "Eat more, talk less."

Grayson Forrest proudly raised his eyebrows, and Kay quietly said, "Dad, are you feeling very proud now that you’ve got a daughter-in-law who became your ally?"

"Your taste isn’t bad."

Before Grayson could finish, Jane had already placed food into his bowl, "Uncle, your taste is also not bad."

Upon hearing Jane’s words, the three of them all laughed.

Grayson Forrest felt somewhat moved, it had been many years since such genuine laughter and joy appeared in this house.

There were some things he thought would never see the day of resolution.

But now, it seemed not so.

Just like his relationship with Kay Forrest, it seems that maybe before he dies, he could really reconnect with his son.

After the meal, Grayson Forrest wanted to go back to his room to rest, but just as he reached the bedroom door he asked, "Forrest, everything for your in-laws’ visit tomorrow is all set, right?"

"Everything is perfectly arranged, you can go rest easy."

Kay Forrest said as he pushed Grayson into the bedroom, Grayson nodded, "Alright, I trust you with things."

"If you really trusted me, you wouldn’t be asking so much.

Don’t worry, your son isn’t incompetent."

He helped Grayson to the bed, "There’s no arrangement of inviting friends or relatives, it’s just the five of us having a meal together."

"Did you ask Jane what she thinks?"

"Jane has no objections, she’s going with my decision. This arrangement was suggested by her parents; probably they prefer it less crowded."

"Okay, since it’s their suggestion, let’s agree unconditionally.

After all, we are taking their daughter, who they’ve lovingly raised for over twenty years."

"Alright, I understand."

Kay Forrest thought this old man must also have some fear of the Quinlan family.

"Dad, tonight I will take you and Jane to see the fireworks by the sea."

"Forget it, I’d rather not go.

On such a beautiful day, you two go out and have a romantic time.

Having an old man like me around would just be boring."

Kay Forrest felt a bit awkward as he touched his nose, "Let’s go together, it’s boring staying home anyway."

He quickly turned around and walked out after saying that.

Grayson Forrest watched Kay’s reaction and couldn’t help but laugh.

This naughty kid, feeling shy now.

After dinner, Kay Forrest pushed Grayson Forrest out of the villa, he alone lifted Grayson into the car and then folded the wheelchair and put it in the trunk.

Jane Quinlan sat in the passenger seat, she turned back and asked Mr. Forrest, "Uncle, will it be cold?"

"No, I am wearing a lot, don’t worry."

Jane Quinlan nodded, and Kay Forrest drove straight to the seaside after getting in the car.

The night always arrives earlier in winter, and by not even seven o’clock, it was already very dark.

When they arrived at the seaside, it was already crowded with people.

Luckily, Kay Forrest had people arrange the best spot in advance.

Kay Forrest was about to get out of the car, but Jane Quinlan said she felt cold, so the three of them gave up and watched the fireworks directly from inside the car.

The seaside is very cold at night already, and the cold wind bites, it’s more comfortable in the car.

At seven thirty, the seaside fireworks started to bloom collectively, wave after wave.

Such a beautiful night scene truly stirred tumultuous waves in Jane Quinlan’s heart.

Last year at this time, Jane Quinlan wanted Xavier to take her here to watch the fireworks.

But Xavier said there were too many people at the seaside during this time, no space and it would be cold.

More importantly, it would be troublesome if they encountered colleagues.

At that time, she thought Xavier’s words made a lot of sense.

Only now does she realize, it was merely because Xavier didn’t love her enough.

If Xavier truly cared about her, why would he worry about these things.

Even if the seaside is crowded, there’s always a spot for two people.

No matter how cold the weather, as long as two people embrace each other for warmth, they won’t feel cold.

If they encounter colleagues, why not just go public with their relationship?

Now clear-headed, she feels so foolish for agreeing not to come watch the fireworks back then.

One lives only once, when dead there’s nothing left.

If one doesn’t live this life joyfully, what use is there expecting some nonsense next life?

It was only after being with Kay Forrest that she realized, one should live freely and spontaneously to not live in vain.

Under the fireworks, she swore that from now on, she would live life at her own pace, to live a new life.

The next afternoon, when the car that came to pick up Jane Quinlan’s parents stopped at the Forrest Family’s old mansion, Grayson Forrest along with Kay Forrest and Jane Quinlan went out to greet them.

When they got off the car, Jane Quinlan went forward and gave her parents a big hug: "Mom and Dad, welcome to Anchester."

Jane’s mom flicked her nose: "Looks like Anchester has become your territory, huh."

Jane Quinlan raised her chin proudly: "Definitely, mom and dad, let me introduce you.

This is Mr. Forrest, Forrest’s dad.

Uncle, this is my dad, Michael Quinlan, and my mom, Elowen Lancaster."

Grayson Forrest nodded: "Good good good, Mr. and Mrs. Quinlan, welcome, really glad to have you."

He reached out his hand to Mr. Quinlan and Mr. Quinlan promptly came forward to shake it.

"Uncle and aunt, it’s cold outside, let’s go in and talk."

"Yes, let’s go inside to talk," Grayson Forrest beckoned and a servant advanced to push him inside.

Jane Quinlan linked arms with her mom, while Kay Forrest accompanied her dad.

The driver carried the gifts brought by Jane’s parents.

Once Mr. and Mrs. Quinlan stepped into the villa’s courtyard, they couldn’t help but be astonished.

They felt like Granny Liu entering the Grand View Garden, having never seen such a large mansion before.

Even looking around the whole Rongford, you wouldn’t see such a great house.

Jane’s mom glanced at Jane Quinlan with eyes full of amazement, Jane herself calmly said: "Mom, isn’t uncle’s house beautiful? I was also shocked the first time I came here."

Jane’s mom slapped Jane’s hand lightly, hinting her not to speak rashly.

It was Grayson Forrest who laughed: "The house is good indeed, but for a cripple like me to live here, it really spoils the scene.

Mother and father-in-law, in the future, if you have nothing to do in Rongford, come and visit more often."

"Okay, okay."

Everyone entered the house together, dinner was to be had at a restaurant.

But it was still early, so Kay Forrest had picked up the elderly couple beforehand.

As soon as they entered the house, the five of them gathered around the sofa.

Grayson Forrest’s wheelchair was opposite them, and after the servants served tea, he said, "In-laws, let’s first discuss the marriage arrangements for the kids, the betrothal gifts, cars, houses, let’s talk about all that, shall we?"

Jane Quinlan scratched her brow awkwardly, Mr. Forrest is quite eager.

But now when it comes up to talking about dowries and such, she really worried, her parents might not accept it.
