Lin Feng took the box and glanced at Rocket before turning to leave.
He wasn't actually going to kill Rocket, just scare him. Otherwise, the fur merchant wouldn't have handed over the item so easily.
Watching Lin Feng depart, Rocket breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he had saved his life.
But even though his life was safe, the item he was supposed to trade was gone.
It was a significant loss. The shrewd Rocket had no choice but to yield to absolute power.
Not only was the lucrative item gone, but Lin Feng had also broken his hand cannon.
Rocket felt wronged but helpless. Being a master of mechanics, he knew the power of Lin Feng's heat ray.
He couldn't block it! He couldn't win!
Rocket lowered his head, dejected, and angrily kicked a small stone by his feet.
He grumbled, "So unlucky..."
"What's unlucky?" A sudden voice startled Rocket.
He looked up and saw that the human had returned, floating in mid-air.
"Why are you back! I don't have anything valuable on me!" Rocket eyed Lin Feng warily and took two steps back.
Did this guy intend to rob him?
Lin Feng chuckled, shook his head, and pulled out a triangular metal piece, tossing it to Rocket.
"Here, take this!"
Contrary to Rocket's expectations, Lin Feng didn't rob him but instead gave him something.
Rocket instinctively caught it.
It was a thin, gray metal piece with a raised button, bearing an 'S' symbol, similar in shape to the rectangle Lin Feng had returned to him.
"This is a distress beacon. Little Raccoon, if you encounter danger, press the 'S' symbol hard. I'll arrive in time to save your life!"
"Consider it compensation for breaking your weapon!"
With that, Lin Feng swiftly ascended into the sky and left.
Although Rocket's usual behavior was a bit despicable, his fundamental nature wasn't bad; it all stemmed from his experiences.
Honestly, even though Rocket was a scoundrel, Lin Feng knew it was just a protective facade.
He didn't dislike the little raccoon. If he could help, he would.
Rocket looked at the sky where Lin Feng had disappeared, then at the triangular piece in his hand.
"Raccoon, what is that?"
...
After leaving the transfer star, Lin Feng floated in space and began conversing with the system.
Before setting off, Lin Feng had conceived an idea.
He wanted to go to other universes to evolve after obtaining the template.
After all, Lin Feng would be unconscious during the evolution process. If he were attacked again, he'd likely die of anger.
Evolving in another universe would be something the Exiles wouldn't anticipate. Even if they did think of it, by the time they found him, it would be too late.
"System, come out!" Lin Feng called.
"Is there a way to go to other universes?"
He himself had no means to travel to other universes, nor did he have the time-space navigation device from Avengers 4.
After much thought, he could only ask the darn system.
If that wasn't possible, he would have to risk evolving in the main universe.
"Didn't the host receive a Universal Key as a reward last time!"
The system quickly provided an answer.
"Hmm?"
This statement reminded Lin Feng. He did indeed receive a Universal Key as a reward from the Avengers 4 event.
Lin Feng rummaged through his backpack and found the golden key.
Universal Key (3 uses): Can open a cosmic portal to a universe with coordinates.
A simple, easy-to-understand description.
But Lin Feng frowned. He didn't have the coordinates to any other universe; how could he use this key?
"System, do you have coordinates for other universes?" Lin Feng continued to ask. He didn't, so perhaps the system did.
"Currently, there is only the coordinate for the DC universe, the same DC universe visited during the last mission."
The system's voice chimed in, "However, I do not recommend the host returning to the DC universe; it would be a waste of a use."
"With the system's help, the Universal Key can open a portal to a random universe."
"Furthermore, random jumps usually trigger system quests, so I recommend a random jump!"
"Since one use of the Universal Key will be expended anyway, why not go to a new universe? You'll get new coordinates and can complete quests for rewards."
The system's words resonated with Lin Feng.
He hadn't expected the Universal Key to be used in this manner.
Normally, going to a completely new universe would be more advantageous. New quests meant new opportunities and rewards.
Moreover, at present, there shouldn't be any disasters in the DC universe that required his intervention.
After some consideration, Lin Feng decided to follow the system's suggestion and initiate a random jump.
"Is a random universe still a random Marvel alternate universe?" Lin Feng asked.
If possible, he wanted to go to some anime universes or other movie universes.
Those universes contained things he needed to varying degrees.
For instance, some enhancement serums and all sorts of bizarre items.
Even if he couldn't use them himself, he could give them to people around him.
It would be amazing if he could go to Doraemon's universe.
The items from Doraemon's pocket were unreasonably powerful!
However, Lin Feng didn't hold out much hope, his intuition telling him it was unlikely.
"A random jump has a 99% chance of leading to a random Marvel alternate universe, and a 1% chance of other random universes."
The system's response confirmed Lin Feng's intuition.
Lin Feng frowned. Only a 1% chance of other random universes?
That meant saying goodbye to Doraemon's universe. The probability of randomly landing in Doraemon's universe from that 1% was too small.
"Do you have any other questions? If not, I'll initiate the jump?" the system urged.
"No more questions. Let's begin," Lin Feng replied.
Just two months. Evolving in another universe was safer than in the main one.
If he evolved here and the same ridiculous situation occurred as last time, it would be disastrous.
The system was incredibly swift. As soon as Lin Feng agreed, a portal opened before him, and a prompt echoed in his mind.
"Universal Key uses remaining: -1. This jump is to an out-of-sequence universe - Venom."
Huh? Lin Feng's brow twitched.
Venom?
Eddie Brock's Venom?
"What does 'out-of-sequence universe' mean?"
Lin Feng inquired as he stepped into the portal.
"An out-of-sequence universe is a parallel universe created by an anomaly caused by a main character."
"Simply put, in Avengers 4, Tony returned to a past that wasn't his own, but rather equivalent to another parallel universe."
The system provided an analogy, and Lin Feng instantly understood.
He nodded. It was indeed a Marvel universe, but he wondered which specific universe this 'out-of-sequence Venom' referred to.
Was it a Marvel universe with Spider-Man, or the Marvel-Sony universe starring Tom Hardy?
Stepping out of the portal, Lin Feng found himself in the out-of-sequence Venom universe.
He was still floating in space, and the sensation was no different from the main universe.
To his left was the azure Earth, and to his right, the scorching yellow dwarf star.
Lin Feng had no intention of going to Earth first, nor did he ask the system if there were any quests. Instead, with a thought, he opened a portal on the surface of the yellow dwarf star.
No problem, the Infinity Stones were still usable in an out-of-sequence universe!
He plunged into the sun, just like the previous time, and slowly closed his eyes, feeling the intense heat of the sun.
"System, begin evolution!" Lin Feng commanded. Since he had made up his mind, he wanted to evolve quickly to avoid unforeseen complications.
Even if a system quest was triggered, he would deal with it after evolving.
"Silver Superman template, evolution initiated."
"Estimated evolution time: 60 days."
The system's mechanical voice sounded, followed by a wave of drowsiness washing over Lin Feng's brain.
It was the same evolutionary process as last time.
"I hope nothing unexpected happens this time..."
Muttering, Lin Feng slowly fell into a deep sleep.
