Subject 89p13, this was Rocket's real name.
A bio-engineered animal from a half-world, with extensive genetic and mechanical modifications.
It was rumored that neuro-mechanical implants were integrated into its body.
Whether this was the reason or not, Rocket possessed exceptional skill in mechanical modification and manufacturing, even rivaling Tony Stark, who was cursed by knowledge.
Agile and proficient with various weapons, he worked as a bounty hunter across the galaxy with Groot.
Lin Feng had seen this fellow during the events of Avengers 4.
However, they hadn't exchanged more than a few words.
In the bar, Rocket sat at a table, his short legs dangling in the air, his eyes scanning left and right as if waiting for someone.
Though he appeared somewhat casual, Rocket was constantly observing his surroundings.
After all, he was a seasoned bounty hunter, always alert to the slightest disturbance!
After a moment's thought, Lin Feng walked directly over and sat down opposite Rocket, staring at him.
"Hey, buddy, what are you looking at me for?"
Sensing Lin Feng's gaze, Rocket snarled aggressively.
"This seat is taken, pal. If you're looking for trouble, go somewhere else!"
Rocket's temper was notoriously volatile and irritable, his personality quite foul.
"Rocket!" Lin Feng spoke his name directly.
"Oh?" Rocket froze.
"You know my name?!"
The raccoon's eyes darted around. "Are you a buyer? No, you're not a buyer."
"Could you be… one of my admirers?"
"Hahahahaha, has this great me become so famous across the galaxy!"
Rocket burst into laughter, but his expression suddenly changed. He pulled out a hand cannon and aimed it at Lin Feng.
"Whoever you are, don't interfere with my business, and scram! Before I lose my temper!"
Lin Feng, witnessing Rocket's sudden change of demeanor, exclaimed inwardly how masterful it was. Was he specially trained in the East for this?
"I need to talk to you," Lin Feng said, glancing at Rocket's hand cannon, his voice still calm, making Rocket feel as if he were holding a fire poker.
"Oh! Lots of people need to talk to me, but I don't have that much free time. Didn't I make myself clear? Do you want to taste the power of my modified weapons?!"
Rocket brandished the hand cannon menacingly. "See this? This is a weapon, an energy weapon! One shot can blow your head off!"
Lin Feng shook his head and produced a picture, pushing it towards Rocket, cutting straight to the chase.
"You have this, don't you?"
The picture showed a rectangular metal box with a diamond-shaped outline, containing a distorted 'S' symbol.
"Oh?" Rocket recognized the item.
He had found it on this planet a few months ago.
However, no matter what method Rocket used, he couldn't open it.
Rocket wasn't discouraged by this. If even with his understanding of mechanics and his skills he couldn't open it, it only proved that whatever was inside was of immense value!
His sharp mind working at lightning speed, Rocket spoke, "Do you know what this is?"
He didn't deny possessing the item. The other party was clearly well-prepared, and calling him by name indicated some level of knowledge about him.
"Of course, I do, because it's mine and I lost it," Lin Feng nodded. "I want you to return it to me!"
"What are you talking about?" Rocket poked his ear with his little finger, then his expression shifted to disbelief, before breaking into hearty laughter.
He jumped onto the table, his hand cannon moving wantonly over Lin Feng. "Your stuff?!"
"Does it have your name on it?"
"Oh! I'm sure it doesn't. Even if it did, it would be this great Rocket's name!"
"Whatever falls into my hands becomes mine!"
"Now, say it again! Whose stuff is this?!"
Rocket pressed the gun against Lin Feng's forehead, his fiery breath spewing arrogance.
Lin Feng pinched the bridge of his nose, his gaze turning cold.
Damn it, this little guy is so insufferable. I want to smash him into a pulp, what should I do…
He remembered that in the original story, Rocket, while verbally abusive, wasn't this arrogant?
In Avengers 4, he was comparatively quiet. Was he this troublesome just a few years ago?
Lin Feng had initially intended to resolve this peacefully, but this little brat didn't seem to be giving him a chance.
Activating his super speed, Lin Feng snatched the hand cannon from Rocket and crushed it with a loud crack.
The meticulously modified mechanical energy hand cannon didn't last a second before being crumpled into a ball.
"Oh my god!" Rocket's eyes widened, and he hastily retreated two steps. He hadn't even seen Lin Feng's movement before his hand cannon turned into fragments.
His heart sank. He had kicked an iron plate!
"Hey, buddy, I was just joking!" Seeing Lin Feng's cold expression, Rocket chuckled and put on his masterful "face-changing" act again.
Truly an experienced bounty hunter, Mr. Rocket.
He slowly backed away, one hand constantly pressing downwards, while the other slowly reached for a weapon behind him.
However, these small movements did not escape Lin Feng's notice.
Before Rocket could react, Lin Feng grabbed him. Against superhuman speed, a mere raccoon couldn't escape.
"This isn't the place to talk!"
With that said, a portal instantly appeared behind Lin Feng.
He stepped through it, Rocket in hand.
Seeing the two disappear through the portal, the bar continued its lively music and dancing. They had seen it all! As long as their fun wasn't interrupted.
Lin Feng teleported with Rocket to a small alley.
Lin Feng had noticed this alley before heading to the bar; it was practically an ideal spot for ambushes.
"Whoa! Buddy, you have a portable teleportation device?!" Seeing that Lin Feng could teleport himself, Rocket's excitement overshadowed his fear.
In his experience, there was no teleportation device this convenient.
He had traveled to so many places across the galaxy and had never encountered such a simple and convenient teleportation device, not even one!
Immediately, Rocket became intensely curious about what Lin Feng used to teleport.
Lin Feng didn't intend to waste too much time with Rocket. This guy was an infuriating little creature, and incredibly cunning.
This little thing was also full of tricks. Logically, he was impossible to reason with, so force was the only option to prevent further complications.
"Listen, Rocket, that box is indeed mine, and I believe you will return it."
As he spoke, Lin Feng's eyes began to glow red. "Believe me, you don't want me to resort to violent means to solve this."
A chilling energy began to surge. Rocket's heart sank again, his eyes darting around nervously.
"Alright, buddy, I do have this thing." Rocket produced the rectangular box from somewhere.
"But according to the rules, whoever finds it keeps it, right?" Rocket said tentatively.
"I think you should pay me."
"At the very least, you should pay me a storage fee! I snatched this from the jaws of an alien crocodile!"
Seeing Lin Feng's silence, Rocket scratched his rear and continued to court disaster. "Or, how about trading it for your teleportation device?"
*Whoosh!*
A red laser grazed Rocket's scalp and struck the ground, blasting a large crater.
Rocket was terrified out of his wits. This creature from nowhere was too terrifying; its eyes could shoot lasers.
For a moment, Rocket lost the courage to haggle with Lin Feng.
Initially, Lin Feng looked benevolent, and Rocket had assumed he was an easy target. He never expected him to be such an unyielding obstacle!
Money versus life, Rocket chose the latter without hesitation.
He threw the rectangular box at Lin Feng.
"Fine, fine, buddy! I'll give it back to you."
