Chapter 92: The Dragon King.
"Are you looking for me?"
Still seated on the ground, Dorian looked up to see the dragon flying in the sky, still taking its manly form. It had its hands behind its back while looking down at Dorian with deadly green eyes.
’This motherfucker...’
Dorian managed to stand, his eyes picking up on Lili, still unconscious from the exposure to the constant mana flow.
"I bet you thought you won, uhn? As you can see, I am still alive. As long as that pact is still—"
Dorian had planned to point at the pact tower to complete his speech, but upon looking towards the sky, he could no longer find it.
’What? Where is my pact?’
The dragon chimed in.
"If you speak of those giant buildings that appeared before your death, then I am afraid they disappeared a while back. I assumed it was because you died; looks like I was wrong."
Dorian frowned, unable to give a response, especially with the constant thoughts running through his mind.
"In any case, I got bored. I tried to exit this place, and as it would seem, the walls are quite steadier than I imagined." The dragon looked to the side. "Our pact is off. I change my mind. I want you dead instead. Seems that is the only way I can leave this place. Worry not, I’ll be sure to preserve your soul for my needs."
All while the dragon spoke, Dorian’s eyes remained on the ground.
’It got destroyed? It’s supposed to be indestructible, so how? I didn’t take this into account. What now? The one chance I had against this monster just went down the drain. Dammit, what do I do? I can’t afford to die again, not after what happened the last time.’
He paused.
’Last time... what happened last time? I remember meeting the God of Gamble; he was about to make me his child when that woman showed up. I can’t remember anything after that. Dammit, this is so frustrating.’
"Die."
Dorian’s eyes widened upon hearing that word.
He raised his gaze back up only for him to see multiple golden magic circles arranged in the sky, covering both flanks of the dragon.
From within them, energy surged and cracked, just urging to be let out. Even worse, they were all aimed at Dorian.
’I can’t lose here. Right now, I know for a fact that dumbass viscount has already begun making his move, seeing as Ishtar is with me. This dragon is a great asset to my victory. How will I show my face to my soon to be wives if this is the best I can do.’
Dorian took a deep breath.
"If you think for one second that I am letting this end with your victory, then you have no idea how petty I can be, Child of Ragnor."
He clenched his fist, taking a fighting pose. "Forget hitting you thrice. I am beating you to a bloody pulp. Spare the rod and spoil the child, as they say. Class is in session."
[The system is back to be of service.]
’Took your ass long enough.’
[You have gained a new energy.]
[The God’s Aura.]
[Note: Using this aura is effective against powerful beings. Advised to use as much as possible in this fight.]
Dorian grinned at the new information.
’Looks like I still have an ace.’
As the dragon looked down at Dorian, it couldn’t help but feel two things. One, the fact Dorian called it the Child of Ragnor, a name that no human should ever utter, and second, the fact he had this look on his face, as if hinting that he had won.
"Unforgivable. I alone should look at you like that. You sicken me, human!"
The magic circles crackled even more as beams shot out of them, speeding straight at Dorian.
"Bring it on!!! If I win this, I’ll make you pay taxes for free labor, you fuck-ass lizard!!!"
Dorian’s body was covered in black mana as he stood there, confident he could tank it all with just his defense.
And he was right.
As the laser beams connected, his elemental weapon, the Earth Shield, formed an automatic barrier on his skin, upgraded with the black mana.
It made him nearly impenetrable. Every beam went flying to the side, ricocheting off his body and towards the walls.
Boom!
Dorian charged up, appearing in front of the dragon with his fist clenched and a warm smile on his face. The dragon was shocked at how fast he moved. That said, he was still human, there was no wa—
Bash!
Dorian landed a direct punch on its face, causing blood to spew out of the dragon’s mouth, along with a tooth. Before the dragon could react, he landed yet another punch, this time to the gut.
The dragon coughed, its body curled up in pain in the sky.
"How the hell did you get so strong?"
"You tell me!"
Dorian smacked it on the back, sending it falling to the ground.
Because he couldn’t fly, Dorian fell alongside the dragon, both of them facing one another.
"I’ll fucking kill you!!!"
They began trading blows, both of them landing critical hits on each other, enough to leave massive potholes in the ground. Their battle lasted for a very long time, until a winner could finally be determined.
The dragon, battered and bruised, roared in defiance. Its scales, once gleaming, were now chipped and scarred. Its green eyes blazed with a renewed, desperate fury. It channeled all its remaining mana, forming a colossal energy sphere that pulsed with destructive power.
"You may have surprised me, human, but this ends now!" the dragon shrieked, launching the orb directly at Dorian.
Dorian, equally exhausted, staggered backward. His black mana shield flickered precariously. He knew this was the dragon’s final, desperate move, and he had to counter it with everything he had left.
"Not today, lizard!" Dorian roared, gathering the last vestiges of his own mana. The "God’s Aura" flared around him, a golden light mingling with his dark energy. He concentrated, molding his mana into a single, sharp spear.
With a primal scream, Dorian hurled the spear. It streaked through the air, a black and gold projectile colliding head-on with the dragon’s energy sphere.
The impact was cataclysmic. A blinding flash of light engulfed the arena, followed by a deafening explosion that shook the very foundations of the dimension.
When the dust settled, a deep crater marred the ground. Dorian stood panting, his body screaming in protest, but a triumphant grin stretched across his face.
Before him, the dragon lay motionless, its majestic form returned to that of a smaller, more subdued female. Its scales were dull, its eyes were closed, and a faint whimper escaped its lips.
Looking down at it, Dorian settled on the ground, panting heavily to catch his breath.
’I won. Somehow. Fuck, I won.’
He smiled a bit. "Hahaha, this is insane no matter how you think about it. Winning against a dragon? This new mana is really something else."
