Chapter 163: A Gift for Bruce’s Child

Chapter 163: A Gift for Bruce’s Child

As soon as Margaret finished speaking, Orlenna came out of the kitchen with a plate of watermelons.

She was surprised to see Margaret and then said unhappily, "You still know to come back."

"I can go now."

Margaret looked at Orlenna and saw that Orlenna was staring at her angrily. She sat down and smiled, "It’s not easy for me to come back. Bruce and Hilla are here, too. How can I miss the chance to have dinner together?"

And then she quickly took a piece of watermelon and started to eat.

As it was said, the middle-aged woman who stayed alone at home would easily become bad-tempered. And Orlenna was getting more and more terrifying.

Margaret was thinking whether Orlenna, who was in her prime, would fell in love with another man.

"Have you washed your hands? They’re so dirty."

Margaret wanted to take another piece of watermelon but Orlenna patted her hand away. Although Margaret was away from home for a long time, there was no sign of joy on Orlenna’s face to see her.

"I use toothpicks. There’s no need to wash my hands. How troublesome!"

Although Margaret made a complaint, she still stood up and walked to the bathroom.

It was better for her to go away, so that Orlenna wouldn’t focus on her.

Then Orlenna looked at Hilla. She put the watermelons aside and said, "Don’t eat them. They are dirty. I’ll ask someone to prepare some more."

Margaret was speechless.

Hilla let out a sigh of relief. It was good that she didn’t need to eat.

"There’s no need, Mum. I’ve already eaten a lot. I haven’t had your cooking for a long time and I miss it very much."

"I’m glad you like it. I’ve prepared a lot of dishes you like. You can have as much as you want."

Hilla was helpless but she still replied, "OK.

"How is everything with you these days, Mum? It is long since the last time I visited you and grandpa."

Hilla felt sorry, guilty, and nervous. It was true that she didn’t do well enough.

"I’m fine. But your grandfather is in a bad mood. He is still angry with Lucas and Rudi. He’s old and he needs time to calm down."

Orlenna looked worried when she mentioned Tyree.

It was hard for Tyree, who was over seventy, to go through what had happened.

Although Tyree did not say anything, he knew Lucas and Rudi well. He had to make the decision for the Anderson family, but it was hard for him to do so.

If Orlenna were Tyree, it would also be hard for her to make a choice between Bruce and Margaret.

Orlenna calmed down and smiled, "It’s not convenient for your grandfather to go out now. He can only stay in the room. Although William is with him, he is not as close as a family member. You can go over and keep him company later."

As a daughter-in-law, Hilla couldn’t do much.

She nodded and felt sorry about Tyree. Then a warm hand held her hand tightly.

Hilla looked up and saw Bruce. She smiled weakly at him.

The Andersons were nice to Hilla, but she had never done anything for them. Tyree gave Hilla a box of jewelry after she married Bruce, but Hilla didn’t meet Tyree very often.

"All right. Dinner is ready. I’m so happy today! It’s not easy for us to reunite. Let’s sit together and enjoy dinner now."

After Margaret came out of the bathroom, Orlenna asked them to go to the dining room with a big smile.

There were many dishes on the table, most of which were what Hilla liked.

As soon as they sat down, Orlenna said, "I specially caught the fish from the pond of our neighbor, Anna. She raised the fish to nourish her great-grandson.

"By the way, do you know Anna? She is an old lady with gray hair. She’s nice. She even gave you and Bruce presents last Christmas."

Being reminded by Orlenna, Hilla immediately remembered Anna. She nodded and said, "I remember her. She mistook me for one of her granddaughters."

"Anna has many sons. She is old and her eyesight is poor. She saw you and Bruce stood together and regarded you as brother and sister."

Margaret interrupted Hilla and Orlenna rolled her eyes on Margaret instantly.

Margaret quickly lowered her head in fright and wanted to taste the fish.

"Is the fish for you?"

"I’m just afraid that it’s too far for Hilla to reach."

Margaret was so scared that she quickly put the fish in Hilla’s bowl and then she licked her fork.

It was so delicious!

Orlenna looked at Hilla with a smile and served her some more food, "Have more

fish and chicken soup. They are good for you. I especially caught a carp this time. I heard that she also raised a few crucians, especially for her granddaughter-in-law to produce milk."

Hilla was speechless.

She felt that she was almost choked to death by the fish.

Hilla seemed to know what Orlenna was going to talk about over dinner.

Hilla looked at Bruce. She did not expect him to be so calm and at ease. But in fact, having a baby didn’t affect him much.

Orlenna seemed to ignore the others at the table and continued, "Anna’s third granddaughter-in-law has a second child this year. I heard that it was twins. What good news! Don’t you agree, Hilla?"

Hilla felt that she was going to have babies and even twins. How difficult! "Yes. Twins are rare."

Whether she wanted to hear it or not, Hilla still had to reply. She gritted his teeth and wanted to finish the food in her bowl as quickly as possible.

"It is rare, but it’s all destiny. This is just like being pregnant. Nobody knows how many babies are in the belly and the gender. Hilla, your belly ..."

"My belly is full."

Hilla hurriedly said. In case that Orlenna would look at her stomach again, she quickly hid behind Bruce.

Orlenna nodded weakly and then said, "Anna’s first granddaughter -in-law has three children and her youngest great-grandson is going to kindergarten this year. It’s more and more difficult to attend a key primary school now, so it is better to have a child early. Do you agree?"

Hilla was reluctant to talk about this, but she had to answer, "Yes."

"You think so! Then we share the same opinion. Bruce, did you hear her? Hilla agreed to have a child. You have to work hard."

Then, Orlenna looked at Bruce and frowned, "Can you do it?"

Bruce thought to himself, "I’m quite good at it!"

...

Hilla was dizzy when she walked out of the old mansion of the Anderson family.

Although Margaret was reluctant, she had to help Hilla take the bags of tonics.

"Are you raising pigs, Mum? There are so many tonics. They will expire before being finished."

"Nonsense! They are for Bruce and Hilla. I have calculated and they can finish them in two months."

They wouldn’t expire.

Margaret pursed her lips and looked at Hilla sympathetically. If she had a boyfriend in the future, she wouldn’t register first.

She wouldn’t get married until she wanted to have a child. Otherwise, she would rather die if she met a mother-in-law like Orlenna.

How terrifying it was to be urged to have a baby!

Bruce also frowned when he saw the tonics, but he didn’t say anything. He just allowed others to put them in his car.

Orlenna pulled Bruce aside without being noticed by Hilla and said to him seriously, "Work hard."

"Mum, just let it be."

"Are you trying to fool me? You are always together. Either one of you has a problem or you just want to stop me from meeting my grandchild."

Bruce thought to himself, "You are right and I can’t refute you. But I can’t tell you that I have a problem!"

"Your grandpa was in a bad condition and he didn’t have much time. If you don’t have a baby, I’ll end our relationship."

"If you cut me off, you will never have a grandchild."

Orlenna struggled for a while and said, "I’d rather have no grandchild than have an unfilial son."

Seeing them off, Orlenna sighed and went to Tyree.

Tyree was lying on the bed. He had little hair and his skin wrinkled. When he saw Orlenna, Tyree opened his mouth and said in a dry and low voice, "Have they left?"

"Yes. They just left. Hilla was worried about you and asked me to take good care of you."

As Orlenna spoke, she poured a cup of warm water and handed it to Tyree.

William quickly stepped forward to help. Tyree was now paralyzed and William was taking care of him.

Tyree was old and it was hard for him to recover. He was getting weaker and weaker day by day.

"No matter how carefully you take care of me, I’m still dying. I witness Bruce recover but I can’t wait for my great-grandchild. What a pity! I owe you and Bruce a lot. You suffered a lot."

Tyree was still angry with Rudi and his family. Although Hilla and Bruce were safe in the end, Tyree still blamed himself.

If Tyree hadn’t spoiled them so much, Rudi and his family wouldn’t be so evil. They almost killed Bruce and Hilla.

"Dad, what are you talking about?"

Tyree waved his hand and interrupted Orlenna, "Your mother died because of me. I didn’t learn the lesson. I thought that it was my fault and had nothing to do with Rudi. So I allowed Rudi and his family to live in the Anderson’s. I did not expect that you would be wronged. It is reasonable that Hilla doesn’t want to have a baby. Don’t blame her."

"Dad, it’s not like this. Hilla is still young and doesn’t understand these things. Bruce doesn’t want her to have a baby so early."

Tyree nodded tiredly. Orlenna’s eyes turned red as she said, "Dad, don’t worry. You will definitely see your great-grandchild."

"It doesn’t matter." Tyree glanced at William. He got the message and took out the box Tyree had prepared.

Tyree took a deep breath and then said, "I can’t give it to my great-grandchild myself, so please give it to the child on my behalf!"

William brought over a small carved wooden box. It wasn’t big, but it was heavy. "Dad, it’s still too early. You can give it to the child yourself later."

Orlenna was shocked and sad. She didn’t expect Tyree to tell her what to do after his death.

Tyree waved his hand and said nothing.

William said, "Master Anderson started to prepare this when Mr. Bruce woke up. Master Anderson made a gift for his great-grandson himself."

Although Rudi was also Tyree’s grandson, Tyree didn’t expect much of him. Orlenna held the heavy box in her arms and left Tyree’s bedroom absent-mindedly. "Isn’t it too annoying that you urge Hilla and Bruce to have a baby? There’s no use."

Margaret saw that Orlenna started to search for the secret formulas for pregnancy after coming back, and she couldn’t help but say something for Hilla.

Even if Hilla wanted to have a baby, it was hard for her to succeed under such great pressure.

Orlenna looked at Margaret and said in a bad mood, "I started to urge them more than half a year ago and there’s no result. If I don’t, it will take them longer."

She could wait, but she was afraid that Tyree couldn’t.

Margaret didn’t dare talk back. Just as she was about to stand up, Orlenna shouted, "Where are you going? Stay at home and accompany your grandfather these days. Don’t go out."

Then Orlenna thought of something and said, "You asked for so much pocket money, but you accomplished nothing and all the money was spent."

When Margaret heard this, she quickly said, "Mum, I’m tired. Let’s talk about this tomorrow. I’m sleepy and want to go upstairs to sleep. Good night."

Orlenna was stopped. She said angrily, "You and Bruce are both a pain in the ass. Why did I raise you?"

Hilla and Bruce arrived in the Lakeshore Center when it was dark.

"Grandpa’s health condition was much worse. I’m afraid he has suffered a lot these days. Can Horton handle it himself? Do we need to hire some more professionals?"

Thinking of Tyree, Hilla felt a little sorry. After all, she had something to do with Rudi.

However, Tyree didn’t blame her at all. Instead, he hoped that Hilla and Bruce would live a harmonious life. Hilla could see Tyree’s expectations through his eyes when they were about to leave.

Although Tyree didn’t say it, Hilla understood that he wanted a great-grandchild.

Perhaps when people were old, they would miss the past and wouldn’t let it go. It was not because they were afraid of death, but because they didn’t want to.

After meeting Tyree, Hilla was always sad. She didn’t know why.

"Don’t worry, Mum and William will take good care of grandpa."

Bruce’s comfort didn’t make Hilla feel better. Instead, she felt even more worried. But when Hilla went back home and saw Halle, who was frightened and pale, Hilla forgot about Tyree.
