Chapter 89: Ch 89

Chapter 89: Ch 89

In a shadowy room of mysterious origins, five seats were arranged around the semi circular table, and currently, a gathering was happening at this place... again.

The seats very large and comfortable with Darcy sitting on one of them, dressed in a form-fitting black mask and an outfit that concealed every inch of her body.

This time however, there were four more figures in the room and were dressed in a similar masked and attired as her.

But the air in the room was thick and filled with tension as the four present assassins awaited the arrival of their leader’s daughter.

As the minutes ticked by, the tension in the room only seemed to grow stronger. The three of the four assassins sat silently, each lost in their own thoughts and anxieties.

Darcy or better known as Fourth here, seemed to be only one who was composed and relaxed but this was not known to the other three as her face hidden behind her mask.

Suddenly, a screen appeared in front of the table and a face they all know appeared in front of them.

It was a face covered with a white mask with only blue eyes and long silver hair of a woman with a blue gemmed golden clip visible appeared on the screen.

The face had a cold expression and even through they can’t see it from the mask, just those cold blue eyes which send chill down my spine was enough to tell them one thing, it is that their princess is not happy.

From all of them, second and third but the one which has most afraid, it’s because they know the reason behind the princess anger which was them.

Second, who was also obsessed with the princess immediately left his seat as he sit on his knees on the ground and started hitting his head on the floor.

"Please forgive me Princess, this is all my fault. If I worked was faster enough, I would have conquer the dungeon." He said as he keeps banging his head on the ground till it started bleeding from his head.

The princess’s expression remained cold and unforgiving as she watched second’s display of contrition. "Rise, second," she finally spoke, her voice icy and commanding.

"Your failure is disappointing, but your punishment will come later. Right now, we have more pressing matters to attend to."

The third assassin, who had been fidgeting nervously in his seat, spoke up. "Princess, we have gathered some valuable intel on our target. We believe that-"

"Silence," the princess cut him off. "I did not ask for a report. I called you all here because I have received word of a new development.

A rogue assassin has infiltrated our ranks and is now operating independently. This is a direct threat to our organization and to me personally."

The four assassins exchanged uneasy glances, but fourth remained calm and composed as always.

"I want this rogue assassin found and dealt with immediately," the princess continued. "I will not tolerate any threat to our organization’s integrity.

You all have your assignments. Do not fail me again, now leave. Fourth have to wait."

...

After everyone else the place left leaving darcy alone with the princess, the princess expression also turned gentle when there was only Darcy left in the room.

The princess let out a small chuckle as she turned to Darcy. "Well, that was quite the display from Second, wasn’t it?" she said with a hint of amusement in her voice.

Darcy couldn’t help but grin behind her mask. "Yes, I was worried he was going to knock himself out with all that headbanging."

The princess shook her head, still smiling. "I swear, sometimes I feel like I’m running a daycare instead of an assassin organization."

Darcy laughed. "I know what you mean. But to be fair, Second did try his best. He just wasn’t fast enough this time."

The princess nodded. "Yes, I suppose you’re right. But I still can’t let him get away with failure. I need to make an example out of him."

Darcy raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what kind of punishment do you have in mind?"

The princess leaned forward, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "I was thinking of making him wear a tutu and perform a ballet for the entire organization."

Darcy couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "Oh my god, that’s perfect! I would pay good money to see that."

The princess grinned. "I thought you would appreciate my sense of humor. But let’s get back to business. The assassin, I believe is an spy from the Dark Kingdom’s royal family."

Darcy couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. "The Dark Kingdom’s royal family? I didn’t know they were interested in our affairs. Are they trying to steal our secret assassination techniques?"

The princess shook her head. "No, I think it’s more personal than that. From what I’ve gathered, the spy is actually an ex-girlfriend of mine.

I guess she couldn’t handle being dumped and decided to betray me instead."

Darcy couldn’t help but chuckle. "Well, that’s one way to get over a breakup. I hope she at least took you out to dinner before she turned on you."

The princess rolled her eyes. "As if she could afford to. Shee was always so cheap. That’s probably why I dumped her in the first place."

Darcy laughed. "Well, now she’s not only cheap but also a traitor. Talk about hitting rock bottom."

The princess chuckled. "Speaking of hitting rock bottom, how’s your love life going, Fourth?" she teased.

Darcy felt her cheeks heat up behind her mask. "I have no idea what you’re talking about, Princess," she replied, trying to sound nonchalant.

The princess raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? So you’re not planning to meet up with someone named Alex in a few hours?"

Darcy’s eyes widened in surprise. "How did you know about that?"

The princess shrugged. "Let’s just say that as the leader of this organization, it’s my job to know everything that goes on within our ranks. Including who my top assassins have a crush on."

Darcy groaned, feeling embarrassed. "It’s not a crush, Princess. I just... like him... Maybe love."

The princess smiled knowingly. "Of course, just like how Second just had a minor setback, right?"

Darcy sighed. "Okay, fine. Maybe it’s more than a crush. But I can’t let anyone know. It’s against our rules to have romantic relationships within the organization."

The princess nodded. "I know, and I won’t tell anyone. But be careful, Fourth. Love can make even the best assassins lose focus."

Darcy chuckled. "I’ll keep that in mind, Princess."

The princess grinned. "Well, that’s good to hear. I’d hate to have to take out one of my top assassins for breaking the rules."

Darcy rolled her eyes. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, Princess."

The two of them laughed, enjoying the brief moment of lightheartedness in their otherwise dangerous and secretive lives as assassins as they continue thier talk as thier topic changed to thier childhood training together with the princess father before they ended the meeting.

As Darcy reached her home, she couldn’t help but thought back as to what conversation she had with her friend.

They had been training together since childhood from the moment her father decided to take Darcy under thier wind and make her the second female member of the gold assassin.

She couldn’t help but think back to the days when she and the princess had trained together under the organisation leader.

She couldn’t help but think back to the days when she and the princess had trained together. They had been so young and innocent back then, with no idea of the challenges that lay ahead and they are currently facing.

’Things really changes too fast, we were so carefree just few years ago and now...’ in the end, only a sigh of nostalgia left her mouth.

Darcy wondered if the princess ever thought about those days, she wasn’t always so cold to everyone but the change in her was very sudden the moment she was put incharge of all the task in the organisation as her father.

She even changed her hair colour to those long silver one same as her father, maybe missing him.

Although, she went cod to everyone else after becoming the leader, she is still same to some people as she was before in the past.

Darcy knows only three including her, the other two were thier big sister also known as ’First’ and her mother.

She signed as she take a bath and of course didn’t forgot to send a pick of her in the towel to alex.

It has become a daily routine of hers even though alex sometimes didn’t check it till morning. ’It seems he is busy at night.’ She thought as she fall asleep while thinking of visiting him soon.

...

A/N:- It’s been a while since darcy appeared, and to tell you the truth, I forgot about Second in the dungeon and did not mention even a thing while the dungeon arc, so ya this covers that too...
