Chapter 88: Ch 88
As Max opened his eyes and gazed out of the window, his mind was heavy with guilt and regret, replaying the events that led to Tom’s injuries over and over again. But he knew that dwelling on the past would not help his friend in the present.
So, he made a vow to himself to do everything in his power to aid Tom in his healing and recovery, to make up for his past mistakes.
As he looked out the window, he could see the determination in his own eyes, and he felt a renewed sense of purpose.
As the car came to a stop, one of Max’s subordinates spoke up, breaking the silence in the vehicle.
"Young master, we have arrived at the destination," he said, his voice crisp and professional as Max just gave a slight nod of acknowledgement.
Max and his team had arrived at the home of someone he referred to as his "friend," but in reality, the man was much more than that.
He was a very skilled doctor, and is definitely the best this city can offer but he belongs to a renowned clan from the city of Utopia, thier had been known for their healing abilities for generations.
In fact, their healing abilities was said to be second only to that of the true royal family and Duke families, making them some of the most respected and sought-after practitioners in the world.
As for why and how they are friends, well in reality, they aren’t. The relationship between Max and the doctor was not one based on genuine friendship or camaraderie. Instead, it was a bond forged out of a sense of obligation and hierarchy.
As a highly skilled healer from a renowned clan that fell under the umbrella of the royal family of the Light Kingdom, the doctor was duty-bound to offer his services to members of the Light Duke family, including Max, who was the prince of the family.
While Max could not directly command the doctor to do his bidding like the king or the crown prince, he possessed the authority to request his aid and support, and the doctor was honor-bound to provide it.
As for what such a person was doing in the desolate land with almost one third Qi density compared to the city of Utopia.
The reason for their presence lies in their close association with the Light Duke family.
The clan, duty-bound to offer their unparalleled healing services to members of the royal family and their allies, have a contractual obligation to send three of their most skilled practitioners to the light city.
The contractual agreement between the Light Duke family and the Clan is not merely a formality, but rather a testament to the Light Kingdom’s commitment to the health and well-being of its citizens.
While some other Duke families may prioritize their own interests over those of their subjects, the Light royal family sets a shining example of altruism and benevolence.
By sending the best healers to the light city, regardless of their origin, the Light Duke family ensures that all its citizens have access to high-quality medical care.
This proactive approach to healthcare not only promotes a healthy population but also helps to maintain social harmony and stability.
In this way, the Light Kingdom stands out as a beacon of hope and compassion, a nation that truly cares about its people and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure their well-being.
Even the calm have no problem about it since even thier healing arts depends on light Qi and were also only slightly inferior to the Duke families, but unlike light Duke family, they does not have combat powers with light Qi.
The relationship between the Clan and the Light Duke family goes beyond a mere contractual obligation. There is a genuine sense of kinship and camaraderie between the two entities, which is based on a shared commitment to healing and helping those in need.
By aligning themselves with the Light Kingdom, the healers of the Clan are not only able to pursue their passion for healing but also receive protection from those who seek to exploit their abilities for their own selfish purposes.
This provides them with the freedom and security to focus on what they love doing the most - using their healing powers to alleviate the suffering of others.
To them, healing is not just a profession but a calling, a sacred duty to be fulfilled with dedication and compassion.
Through their tireless efforts, the Clan upholds the highest standards of medical ethics and excellence, earning the respect and admiration of all those who come under their care.
Of course, while also earning some pennies too in the way...
That’s why, both these parties made the agreement as the clan known as "Serenity Angels Clan" send three of thier healers in the three different main cities across the light kingdom changing them in an yearly basis and they are also pain for thier services by the Duke family itself.
...
After that, max left Tom to the doctor or healer, who happened to be an old man looking in his fifties so that he can examine Tom mental condition without any disturbance while tom was left to wait in the living room.
In just half an hour, the door of the medical room opens up and out came an old max in white lab coat.
As soon as he came out, he did a light bow acknowledging his status as he take a seat on the sofa in front of max.
"How’s the situation with my friend, doctor." Max asked seriously causing the old man eyes twitch a little as he replied...
"Not good, No, even using the word good is an insult to this word itself.
His condition is... Let’s just say complicated... If it’s the right word.
Anyway, the thing is, physically... It is still better as it seems that the young master had used some of his resources, so it isn’t a ploblem except some seeds are still are still buried in there, but fortunately, this guys have nothing to make them plant birthing life.
But the real ploblem is his mental condition... It seems like this experience was a traumatic one for him, can’t blame, it’s same for any same person.
I as a doctor is ashamed to say this but healing him is beyond mine, or is even our clan’s capabilities. Only Sir Duke can help this person now.
Which is also impossible task to do, since this person can’t even enter the city of Utopia.
That’s all, young master." Said the old doctor with a sigh. He was really feeling bad for this patient of his, he haven’t seen anyone in this worse condition even in his long career.
"Can’t you do anything, you will owe me a great favour."
The old man thought for a while before he replied, "We can seal his memories using a special technique, but this... requires a great price to be paid-"
"Just do it." Said max interrupting him.
"Are you sure, young master."
"Yes."
...
Tom woke up as the first thing he saw was an unfamiliar ceiling.
’What’s going on?’ he questioned himself but his head started spinning and paining as soon as he think as to what happened but then his eyes suddenly fell on his good friend, max making him relax a little but still, his guard was up for any upcoming unknown danger.
To his shock, max told him everything from how he finds me deep in the dungeon injured after fighting some monsters, then how he rescued me from there to how he get me treated from his doctor friend he previously mentioned about.
Though he still has some doubts as he couldn’t remember any of this happening, the last thing he remembers was defeating the boss on the second floor with his three friends.
Now that he thinks about them, he just wishes they make out of dungeon safely and have a good life, ’they were good guys’ he thought.
But still, he was really grateful for all the help recieved from max as he thanked Tom and also the old doctor before leaving from the place in a hurry.
Max told him that he has been unconscious for the last three days and Tom was sure that his family would be worried about where he went without telling anything.
Even though, there was a moment of awkwardness between the both of them knowing they were trying to hard something which the other already know, the existence of supernatural.
But they decided to talk about it on a latter date as even max could guess what might have happened after being in coma for three days.
...
After two hours, Tom was on his bed in his room. After he returned back home, his parents were really happy but also scolded him for not not telling where he went, his sisters too don’t show it but were really worried.
Since it was late at night, it was decided that the enquiry will continue tomorrow as he went to his room and started thinking what happened, but, somehow can’t remember anything.
Tired of all this, he decided to go to sleep. But even that wasn’t possible since as soon as tried this, he started having nightmares, some very bad ones...
In it, he was with some monsters, and... He shook his head trying to forgot it and go to sleep again.
But the same thing happened whenever he tried to sleep again... and again... and again...
...
