Chapter 1655: Chapter 815: Spiritual Beast Injured, Searching for Midnight Spirit Grass
They walked toward the Blood Antler Deer being cared for by the Alliance members and saw them placed in a comfortable environment. Luo Chen and Qing Shuang both breathed a sigh of relief.
"It seems they have already adapted to the environment here." Qing Shuang observed the reactions of the Blood Antler Deer.
"Yeah, they look quite calm." Luo Chen nodded in agreement.
At that moment, a veterinarian from the Alliance came over, looking somewhat concerned.
"Luo Chen, Qing Shuang, I just checked these Blood Antler Deer. They are in good health, but one of them seems to be a bit off." The veterinarian said.
"Which one?" Luo Chen and Qing Shuang asked in unison.
The veterinarian pointed to one of the Blood Antler Deer, "It’s this one. Its body temperature is a bit unusual, and it may require further examination."
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang immediately tensed up and followed the veterinarian to the side of that particular Blood Antler Deer.
"It looks very weak." Qing Shuang said worriedly.
"Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of it." The veterinarian reassured them.
Luo Chen nodded and turned to Qing Shuang, "Qing Shuang, you should go rest first. I’ll watch over things here."
"No, Luo Chen, I want to stay." Qing Shuang insisted.
Luo Chen knew Qing Shuang’s stubbornness, so he didn’t persuade her any further.
They stayed together by the Blood Antler Deer’s side until the veterinarian returned with a treatment plan.
"I have mixed some herbs that should help it recover, but unfortunately, we’re missing Midnight Spirit Grass..." the veterinarian said softly.
"Midnight Spirit Grass?" Luo Chen frowned slightly, thinking, "Isn’t there such Spirit Grass in the Alliance’s herb garden?"
The veterinarian shook his head, "Midnight Spirit Grass grows in Extremely Yin Lands and is very rare. The Alliance’s herb garden doesn’t have it."
Luo Chen pondered for a moment, then said to Qing Shuang, "I remember on our way here, we passed a mysterious valley. Perhaps it may have Midnight Spirit Grass."
Concern flickered in Qing Shuang’s eyes, "Luo Chen, there are many unknown dangers there. You can’t go alone."
Luo Chen smiled reassuringly at her, "Don’t worry, I’ll be careful. Besides, I need you here to take care of the Blood Antler Deer and ensure it’s okay."
Qing Shuang hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded, "Then you must be careful. I’ll be waiting for you here."
Luo Chen nodded and then turned to prepare to set off.
He picked up some necessities from the Alliance’s supplies and then embarked alone on the journey to find Midnight Spirit Grass.
Retracing his path, Luo Chen passed through the forest and crossed streams, eventually arriving at the eerie valley as night fell.
A faint mist permeated the valley, and the surroundings were silent except for the sound of his own breathing.
Carefully, Luo Chen searched the valley, his gaze sweeping over every spot where Midnight Spirit Grass might grow.
Finally, in the crevice of a rock, he discovered a plant emitting a faint blue glow.
"This is Midnight Spirit Grass!" Luo Chen felt a surge of joy, carefully uprooting the Spirit Grass and placing it inside the pouch he carried.
Just as he was about to leave, a strange sound suddenly echoed through the valley.
Vigilantly, Luo Chen tightened his grip on his sword and looked around.
"Who’s there?" Luo Chen shouted, but only the echoes of the valley responded to him.
Suddenly, a black shadow leaped out from the darkness, lunging straight at Luo Chen.
Reacting swiftly, Luo Chen swung his sword to counter. The shadow twisted in mid-air, dodging Luo Chen’s attack, and then landed not far away.
Fixing his eyes on the shadow, Luo Chen realized it was a giant black cat, its eyes glowing a ghostly green in the darkness.
"Shadow Cat?" Luo Chen was startled. He knew this Spiritual Beast was renowned for its speed and agility, making it extremely difficult to handle.
The Shadow Cat let out a low growl, then launched another attack at Luo Chen.
Not daring to underestimate it, Luo Chen concentrated, ready to face this sudden battle.
He and the beast engaged in a fierce showdown in the valley.
Luo Chen’s swordsmanship was fierce, but the Shadow Cat’s speed was too fast, always managing to evade his attacks at critical moments.
The battle lasted through several rounds, and Luo Chen gradually felt his stamina waning.
He realized this couldn’t continue and he had to end the fight quickly.
Just then, an idea struck Luo Chen.
He feigned a flaw, luring the Shadow Cat to fall for it.
The Shadow Cat indeed took the bait, leaping at Luo Chen, but didn’t expect Luo Chen had already prepared a counterattack.
Turning swiftly to dodge the Shadow Cat’s attack, Luo Chen smoothly thrust his sword into its belly.
The Shadow Cat let out a piercing cry, then collapsed to the ground motionless.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Luo Chen knew he had won this battle.
Without hesitating further, he quickly left the valley, preparing to return to the Alliance with the Midnight Spirit Grass.
All the way back, the journey was calm and uneventful.
As Luo Chen thought he would return to the Alliance in this peaceful manner.
Footsteps suddenly echoed from afar.
Before long, a red-clad man led a large group of Cultivators and appeared before Luo Chen.
"Boy, didn’t expect to run into you here."
"Where’s the Blood Antler Deer?"
"Where did you put them?"
"Just tell me the information about the Blood Antler Deer, and I can spare your life..."
Luo Chen watched the red-clad man warily, gripping the sword in his hand tightly, prepared to face any battle that might occur.
He knew well that these people were after the Blood Antler Deer, and he would never let them succeed.
"The Blood Antler Deer have been safely delivered to the Alliance, so don’t think you can target them again." Luo Chen replied coldly, his gaze steadfast and unwavering.
