Chapter 419: The Vanishing Island
After the instance was over, John returned to his room and sat on the bed. The screen displayed:
[Dungeon "Code Name: Destruction" (completed), the rewards are as follows:]
[1. Destruction Factor (obtained)]
"Ah..." John couldn’t help but smirk. So that’s what the original code name "Destruction" meant.
The original reward was the Destruction Factor, and because he’d already obtained it during the dungeon, the system wouldn’t issue the reward again?
"Really stingy," was the only way John could comment on the system’s behavior.
However, considering the difficulty of this dungeon, the Destruction Factor was practically free anyway, so John had nothing to complain about.
"Just complete the third commission, then head back and grab a legendary-level Pokemon item!" John thought to himself. Instead of sending Archer and Proton back to the Hoenn Alliance, he selected Gardevoir in the Pokemon column and directly teleported back to the Pokemon Center in Dewford Town.
After habitually receiving treatment from Nurse Joy, John started heading towards Route 107.
He pulled up the specific content of the commission:
[A strange and unknown island was discovered on Route 107. When investigators approached, the island disappeared. It was confirmed that this was not a mirage. No danger was found for the time being. Requesting 24 additional personnel to investigate the situation]
Actually, John had passed Route 107 when he was searching for Team Rocket members earlier. Since Route 107 was right next to Dewford Island, searching around Dewford Island naturally meant passing through Route 107.
It’s just that at the time, instead of continuing further south, he’d circled back around Dewford Island, so John had found nothing.
Now, John was going to head south and dive deeper. Whether it was Sea Mauville or the "Code Name: Destruction" Team Rocket hideout, he was going to get a legendary-level Pokemon item, and the island mentioned in this commission shouldn’t disappoint him either.
"Surf!" John rode Gyarados forward, heading south all the way.
Along the way, he encountered many young swimmers who didn’t know when to quit.
Eventually, he reached the edge of the map.
A prompt appeared on the Gameboy:
[Do you want to enter story mode?]
"Story mode!" John’s eyes lit up.
Where was the last time he’d been in story mode?
Groudon vs Kyogre!
Could it be that there would be legendary Pokemon battling again?
John chose to enter.
Suddenly, there was a vast expanse in front of him, with water and sky sharing the same color, occasionally dotted with white clouds and flying Wingull. He found himself standing on the head of his red Gyarados, heading toward the boundless ocean.
"I don’t see any legendary Pokemon either..."
The calm made John somewhat puzzled. "Could it be underwater?"
"That’s not right, the commission said they saw a small island."
As soon as he finished speaking, John saw a faintly visible island surrounded by mist in the distance.
"Found it!" John immediately took out two Pokeballs, one pressed against red Gyarados’s head to recall it, and the other released a Pokemon.
The pitch-black Lugia soared with flapping wings, carrying John on its back as it quickly headed toward the island.
Standing on Lugia’s back, feeling the oncoming wind, this feeling was absolutely incredible!
Ash’s joy, he could feel it!
Lugia’s speed was extremely fast, and it approached the island in the blink of an eye, getting within three to four hundred meters. Thanks to his enhanced vision from Norman’s training, John could even see Liechi Berries growing on the trees through some of the mist, delicate and glamorous, truly gratifying to behold.
But in the next instant, the hazy mist and the island, along with the delightful Liechi Berries, were gone.
That’s right, they just disappeared, vanished into thin air.
There were no signs of it happening.
After Lugia flew to where the island was supposed to be, John confirmed that there was nothing there. There was nothing but seawater below the surface.
"It’s the same situation the commissioned investigators encountered," John muttered to himself, patting Lugia on the shoulder to signal it to return.
When Lugia was three to four hundred meters away from where the island had been, the small island shrouded in mist reappeared in John’s eyes, standing quietly on the sea. The Liechi Berries were still there.
As if they had never left.
"Gardevoir! Scan it with Psychic," John took out a Pokeball and released it.
Whether it existed or not, whether it was a mirage, just scan it with psychic power and he’d know!
The Gardevoir that appeared had completed Mega evolution.
Mega Gardevoir in a black dress floated in the air, its long dress like a wedding gown billowing under the diffusion of spiritual power, swaying gracefully in mid-air.
Not long after, Mega Gardevoir withdrew its spiritual power and had results.
"Gard~ (Master, there is indeed an island there, but the surface of the island seems to be covered by a layer of space-time power)"
"Gardevoir (The space-time power separates the connection between our time and the island’s time, so we can see it, but we can’t actually reach it.)" Gardevoir explained in detail. Through the Soothe Bell, John could clearly understand its explanation.
"Shrouded by space-time power? Who has such capability?" John became more interested.
Which Pokemon in the Pokemon world had both space and time power simultaneously?
Apart from Arceus, there shouldn’t be any others, right?
Was this an island left by Arceus? Or was it created by Palkia and Dialga?
John somehow thought of Alamos Town from the movie.
A place that nearly disappeared into space and time because of the battle between Palkia and Dialga.
"Gard-devoir (Master, I can try to use the Lustrous Orb to unlock the spatial power here and find the real location of this island)"
"Gard-Gardevoir (But with the temporal power, I can’t do anything about it)," Gardevoir said again.
"It’s okay, let’s unlock the spatial power first." John waved his hand, but he had an idea to solve the problem.
While John’s mind wandered, Mega Gardevoir had already unlocked the spatial barrier of the island with the Lustrous Orb.
The small island shrouded in mist disappeared directly, and even when John extended the distance, it was useless. Because it was supposed to be on Route 107.
"Then where is it now?" John asked Gardevoir.
"Gardevoir!" Mega Gardevoir waved her hand slightly, causing her body to fly quickly toward the northeast.
Lugia spread its wings and followed Mega Gardevoir with John on its back.
