Chapter 42: But, did you know that your family is looking for you
Minato looked down at the elf girl lying on the ground, still weakened by the effects of Absolute Order. Blood dripped from the corner of her mouth as her chest rose and fell from her unstable breathing. Despite her condition, she remained conscious... her bloody blue eyes filled with defiance even through the pain.
He stayed quiet for a moment, remembering that Amelia didn’t know the truth... that he had already made her his Familiar. She also didn’t know that she herself was registered as a Familiar by the system.
He looked back at Amelia and said flatly, "No. Don’t kill her."
Amelia frowned a little. "Why? She tried to destroy everything. If she lives, she could be a problem later."
Minato didn’t answer immediately. He wiped the dust from his hoodie and turned toward the exit portal. "She can’t be left loose, yes. But we also can’t kill her without knowing who or what sent her."
Amelia sighed and crossed her arms... Her eyes searched his face for something... agreement, doubt... but found none. She nodded once. "Do whatever you think is best."
Minato nodded and walked over to the elf. He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her up. Her body was light, and she didn’t resist much. He threw her over his shoulder without saying another word.
"Let’s go," he said.
Amelia gave one last glance at the broken core before following him.
Together, they stepped into the exit portal.
Immediately, they got out, back into the mountain. The battle aftermath was still there... debris, scorch marks, and little traces of aura lingering in the atmosphere. But they were glad it was over for now.
Then, Minato called out his vampiric wings. Amelia followed, too, but she called out to him.
"Minato, stop. Wait for a second."
Minato turned around, looking at her, waiting for what she wanted to say.
"What are you going to do now about your identity?" she asked.
Minato looked up at the sky, thinking for a moment. "For now, we can’t go back to my apartment. But I think I know where we can rest for a while."
At first, Amelia looked confused, but she decided to trust him. Then they both flew up into the sky.
After flying for about three minutes, Minato landed in front of an old Japanese-style hotel at the outskirts of Hokkaido.
Minato turned to Amelia. "We’re staying here for now. Mind-control everyone in the building so we won’t be disturbed."
"Okay," she responded. "If you want, I can do it too Every one in the town."
"Really? You can do that?" he asked.
She smiled proudly. "Of course. Do you know who I am?"
"Thanks," Minato said, cutting her off, clearly showing he was both mentally and emotionally drained.
In a matter of seconds, Amelia activated her mind control. A bright red glow appeared in her eyes, and the aura spread outward. Within moments, the people inside the hotel stopped moving for a brief second, then continued their work as if nothing had happened.
Then they entered the hotel.
As soon as they stepped inside, every staff member and guest turned toward Amelia at once. Their eyes lost all emotion, and in perfect sync, they walked up to her and bowed deeply.
"Princess, how may we serve you?" one of them asked, their voice flat and obedient.
Minato’s brows furrowed immediately. He had seen Amelia use her power before, but it was never like this. The last time, people simply ignored them or stood completely still... not acted like loyal followers.
"Huh?" he muttered, stepping slightly in front of her. "What did you do, Amelia?"
Before she could answer, the elf girl resting on Minato’s shoulder spoke clearly.
"Human, this isn’t ordinary mind control," she said. "It’s slave control... a higher form of manipulation. Only the grand vampires, like the royal bloodline of the Earhart family, can perform it."
Minato turned his head toward her in disbelief. "Slave control?" it was similar to what he used in the system.
The elf nodded once. "It binds the victim’s will completely. They won’t just ignore you — they’ll serve you without hesitation. That’s why they..."
The elf’s eyes widened, and she raised her voice... All the pieces are finally coming together " so, you are royalty, aren’t you!?"
Amelia blinked, then sighed quietly....
She placed one hand on her hip, brushing her yellow hair behind her ear. "Yes," she said firmly. "I am the third daughter of the Demon Lord of Damnation... Amelia Alexandra Earhart."
The elf gritted her teeth. "No wonder my men didn’t stand a chance. If I had known who you were, I would’ve prepared differently."
Her tone then shifted slightly... becoming softer, but more serious. "But did you know that your family is looking for you? They’ve been searching the entire continent."
Amelia froze. Her confident expression faded, replaced with a quiet stare at the floor. She didn’t say anything.
Minato noticed right away. His expression hardened, his tone low and sharp as he glared at the elf.
"Hey, elf," he said firmly, his voice echoing through the hall. "Shut the fuck up."
Then the entire room went silent... even the people under Amelia’s control stopped moving, waiting for her next command.
Amelia didn’t respond again to Minato or the elf. She simply turned her head toward the nearest staff member... a young woman standing rigidly with her head bowed downwards.
In a calm but commanding tone, Amelia exclaimed, "Take me to the best room you have."
"Yes, Princess," the woman replied immediately, bowing deeper before gesturing for them to follow.
Without another word, Amelia began walking toward the staircase, her expression was now blank and emotionless.
Minato followed silently behind her, still keeping the elf on his shoulder. The tension in the atmosphere was heavy, and even he could tell Amelia didn’t want to talk about what the elf had said earlier.
When they reached the top floor, the staff member opened a large wooden door that led into a luxurious suite... a spacious room with two beds, a large bath area, and a wide balcony overlooking the forest below.
Amelia nodded once in approval, then walked inside first. "This will do," she said quietly, sitting down at the edge of the bed.
Minato closed the door behind them, exhaling slowly. He glanced at her again... the confident look she had earlier was gone, replaced with something quieter, an emotion she was holding in.
