Chapter 36: The party of Death 4

Chapter 36: The party of Death 4

When Minato reached the shoulder top, the Cyclops opened its mouth wider, letting out a deafening roar.

Minato’s right hand began to glow red again. Blood dripped from his palm, gathering into a small, bubbly sphere. Without hesitation, he threw it straight into the Cyclops’ mouth.

The moment it hit inside, the light expanded inside.

A loud crack followed. Then the cyclops head exploded into pieces... flesh, blood, and bone bursting outward in every direction. The pieces hit the walls, the ground, even the portal’s frame. The creature’s massive body fell backward with a loud crash that shook the entire street, alerting everybody in the university.

Minato landed a few meters away, rolling once before getting back on his feet. He didn’t look at the corpse. He turned his head toward the portal instead.

He wiped the blood from his face with the back of his hand, his expression blank but his eyes dead cold. He took a short breath and squared a defensive stance.

Amelia landed beside Minato, her boots hitting the already cracked ground.

"Minato, control yourself," she said firmly, her tone sharp but steady. "Rushing forward like that is dangerous. I get that you’re angry, but that doesn’t help in a fight... especially against something stronger."

Before Minato could respond...

A different voice spoke up, soft and small, coming from his left.

"Don’t listen to her, human. You were so cool."

Minato turned his head quickly. On the left side of his vision, near the broken wall by the sidewalk, he saw her again... the same petite elf girl he had seen earlier when he was peeing.

But this time around, her silver hair was tied in a short braid, her pointed ears twitching slightly as she smiled weirdly at Minato.

She stood barefoot on a chunk of broken concrete, watching him closely. Despite the chaos around them, her expression was calm, almost amused... like she was watching a movie.

"You..." Minato muttered, lowering his eyes and voice. "Are you the one that caused this?"

The elf pinched her jaw lightly and smiled weirdly. "What if I did?"

In the next second, without a word, Minato vanished from sight. The only thing the elf saw was his leg before it struck her square in the neck, kicking her across the street. She crashed into a parked car, shattering the windshield. Even Amelia’s eyes widened in shock... she hadn’t expected that Minato could move that fast.

Before anyone could react, a loud and sharp, angry scream echoed in the streets.

The elf girl stood up slowly, brushing the broken glass off her clothes. Her smile was completely gone. "You dare, human... You actually dare to touch me? Now I feel filthy."

Without warning, she disappeared, repeating his movement.

Minato’s eyes widened... she was gone from his sight completely. A second later, the air around him cracked from the speed of her movement. She reappeared in front of him, her leg swinging down toward his neck. The movement was much faster than his own... no, a thousand times faster.

But before the kick landed...

Amelia moved too.

Her hand shot out, catching the elf’s leg just inches away from Minato’s neck. The impact sent out a short burst of air, shaking Minato’s hair and clothes.

He hadn’t even seen either of them move.

Amelia’s eyes narrowed, her grip was firm....

The elf’s face twisted with anger. "Let go of me, vampire..."

"No."

Amelia’s voice was cold.

She tightened her grip, then used her left hand to slap the elf hard across the face. The force of the slap sent the girl flying backward through the air.

The elf’s body crashed into the edge of the portal... she would have fallen straight in, but one of the Cyclops reached out and caught her before she hit the ground. Its large hand closed around her waist, stopping her fall.

She landed on her feet a moment later, breathing heavily, her expression full of disbelief. She wiped a bit of blood from the corner of her mouth and glared at Amelia.

"Vampire! What are you doing?" she shouted, her voice echoing through the damaged street. "We have a truce not to attack each other!"

Amelia stood firmly, her red eyes glowing brightly as she looked straight ahead. "That only applies in our realm," she said flatly. "But you stepped into human territory."

The elf’s eyes twitched. "Humans, since when does a vampire care about the lives of the human species?..." she paused, glancing toward Minato... "Oh, I see."

She smiled weirdly. Her blue eyes shifted restlessly, from Amelia and Minato before fixing on Minato.

"You do know that a relationship with any other species is strictly banned within the Blood Continent," the elf said coldly, staring into Amelia’s eyes.

The moment those words reached her ears, Amelia’s expression changed drastically. Her eyes glowed even brighter than before.

She raised her hand slowly, forming her blood sword once again. The red liquid gathered quickly, hardening into a sharp blade made of blood.

The elf smiled widely and clenched her fists together as she bowed. "Thank you for giving me enough time."

Then a deep rumble followed her words...

(BOOM!)

A massive explosion echoed across the sky.

A bright flash of fire could be seen in the distance... far away, near the mountains. The shockwave reached them a few seconds later, shaking windows and rattling the ground under their feet.

Minato turned quickly toward the direction of the sound, his eyes wide. The smoke was rising high into the atmosphere.

Then the system notification appeared again.

The air around them went quiet. Even the Cyclops paused for a second, turning their heads toward the mountain’s direction.

Amelia lowered her blade slightly but didn’t relax. "There’s another one..." she said quietly.

The elf smirked. "Looks like the show is about to just start."
