Chapter 190: Chapter 190 Guys will never let you down_1

In a hotel room, a square-faced, middle-aged man sat smoking on a sofa on the balcony. He gazed out at the bustling cityscape, the corners of his mouth lifting into a slight smile.

"They say fortune is found in danger!" Zhai Dean mused. "And they say a man can’t get rich without a windfall, just as a horse can’t get fat without grazing at night. I, Zhai Dean, couldn’t agree more!"

This man was Zhai Dean, the founder of the pyramid scheme Su Xuan was a part of. His organization had only been operating for half a year, but it had already brought him an income of over a hundred million, allowing him to vault into a life of luxury. However, many families had been torn apart and plunged into irreversible ruin because of him.

"Su Xuan, heheh," Zhai Dean chuckled. "The kid’s got quite some talent."

He snuffed out the cigarette in his hand and immediately lit another. He had already seen the performance report from Su Xuan’s branch, and he was extremely satisfied. He’d had his doubts, wondering if Su Xuan’s numbers were fabricated. But after he and his secretary studied it carefully, they found the performance was solid, without a trace of falsification. The results were all real, scammed one person at a time in a link-by-link chain. The money handed over was all cold, hard cash, with no forgeries whatsoever.

Besides, it would be impossible for one person to fake something on such a large scale. What ordinary person had that kind of ability? And if someone did have that kind of ability, why would they join his pyramid scheme? Did they have nothing better to do? Were they just playing around?

(Su Xuan: I *am* just playing, you know.)

"Secretary Song, notify the heads of each branch," Zhai Dean said, turning his head toward the bathroom. "Tell them to gather at the usual place at eight o’clock tonight. Just say I’m taking them to Su Xuan’s branch for an observation and study tour."

The bathroom was made of glass, and a slender silhouette inside nodded. "Okay, dear. What should I wear tonight?"

Zhai Dean laughed. "You look best wearing nothing at all!"

The secretary pouted. "You’re so naughty! You actually want other people to see me!"

"Why do I get so inexplicably excited when other men stare at you?" Zhai Dean mused.

"There’s something wrong with you!"

"How is there something wrong with me? Let me ask you something. Say you have a toy. Is it more fun to play with it by yourself at home, or to take it out and play with it in front of others?"

"Of course it’s more fun to play with it in front of others!" the secretary replied.

"Exactly my point!"

"Ah, you tricked me! You’re so annoying!"

At eight o’clock that evening, a group of people gradually gathered at the entrance of a park.

"Director, you don’t think that Su Xuan fellow is a relative of Boss Zhai, do you?" Chang Sasha asked her director.

"I don’t think he’s a relative," the director said, glancing at the road opposite the park. "Haven’t you heard? He’s just a rideshare driver who was roped in by those two girls, Jin Yan and An Mianmian."

"Since when are rideshare drivers so impressive?" Chang Sasha furrowed her brow. "I used to be a white-collar professional. How can I not match his performance?"

"Sasha, you still seem a bit resentful," the director noted.

"I am a bit," she admitted.

"There are many remarkable people in this world, but most of them work mundane jobs because they lack a platform to showcase their abilities," the director explained. "Once they find the right platform, they soar and achieve astonishing results!"

"I completely agree with that," Chang Sasha said, "but there’s another situation that’s also quite interesting."

"What’s that?"

"There are some people who are actually very capable but deliberately pretend to be ordinary. They go around flexing on people and putting them down. I hate people like that the most!"

She was talking about Su Xuan. The time she had tried to show off in front of him, she had not only failed and lost face, but even her sycophantic boyfriend had left her. As she crouched on the ground crying, a passing couple even said she looked like a dog. It was infuriating!

The director, staring at the street, suddenly said, "That’s enough. The bus is here. Let’s get on."

A large bus slowly pulled up to the curb.

Chang Sasha boarded the bus and, after looking around at everyone inside, asked the director, "Why isn’t Boss Zhai on the bus?"

"Our Boss Zhai is a billionaire who moves mysteriously. Why would he ride a bus with small-fry like us? He’s definitely taking his own private car!"

"I guess so," Chang Sasha sighed.

When will I be worth over a hundred million? When will I have a private car to chauffeur me around? When will I stop being a small-fry?

Ten minutes later, the bus arrived at a very run-down residential complex. Just as everyone was getting off, a group of people walked out from the complex to meet them.

"Welcome, colleagues! We’re honored to have you here to observe and guide our work!" announced one of the greeters. "Our Manager Su has been waiting for you all!"

The ones welcoming them were none other than Jin Yan and An Mianmian. Behind the two girls stood the menacing figures of Heizi, Chen Yuesheng, and their men.

"Jin Yan, your Manager Su certainly puts on airs," Chang Sasha said, chuckling as she warmly hooked her arm through Jin Yan’s. "He’s not even coming down to greet us himself!"

She had met Jin Yan at a secret briefing. Because they shared the same ideals, they had become good friends. When she was struggling with Tian Cheng, she had even asked Jin Yan for help in brainwashing the girl.

"Manager Su is in the office preparing his report," Jin Yan explained with a smile. "He’s taking Boss Zhai’s visit very seriously." She then lowered her voice and asked Chang Sasha, "Did you ever manage to handle that girl, Tian Cheng?"

Chang Sasha shook her head. "She’s completely stubborn. I’m at my wit’s end with her!"

"You really should send her over to our Manager Su," Jin Yan said. "I guarantee she’d see the light in no time. Our Manager Su is incredibly capable!"

"Manager Su, Manager Su... that’s all I hear. I’ll have to see what he looks like for myself. Let’s see if he really has three heads and six arms!"

As they spoke, Chang Sasha and the others followed Jin Yan into a building, where the darkness of the stairwell immediately enveloped her.

But where was Su Xuan at this moment?

He wasn’t in a room inside the building, but on the rooftop. Su Zimo was there, filming with a high-definition camera.

"Did you get clear shots of their faces?" Su Xuan asked, turning his gaze from the street below to Su Zimo.

"Got them all crystal clear," she nodded.

"Looks like it’s just some of the underbosses. The founder, Zhai, didn’t show up," Su Xuan observed.

"He’s probably letting his subordinates scout things out first. He’ll only appear if there are no issues."

"I’m going to go greet those underbosses now, so they don’t get suspicious."

Su Zimo suddenly grabbed Su Xuan’s arm. "Su Xuan," she said softly, "thank you."

He knew what she was thanking him for. It was just for giving her the chance to break a huge story.

A sly smirk spread across Su Xuan’s face. "Zi Mo, do you want to make this story even more explosive?"

"Of course! It would be even better if I could win a journalism award for it!"

"Then just you wait and see," Su Xuan said. "Trust me, I won’t let you down."
