Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Captain! Don’t Shoot! It’s Us!
Hearing this question, Vivi paused for a moment, her brows furrowing slightly as she thought it over. After a brief reflection, she answered earnestly, "Under normal circumstances, it would indeed have an impact. If the weather at sea suddenly becomes calm, it’s likely that there’s an island nearby. And by gauging the temperature of the surrounding waters, you can roughly determine the season on that island."
Though she wasn’t ready to reveal her true identity, Vivi had no intention of holding back when it came to sharing her knowledge of navigation.
Nami listened to the response, and a confident smirk tugged at the corners of her mouth, her eyes gleaming with assurance. "If that’s the case, finding it should be a lot easier."
"Looks like you’ve already got a plan, Nami," Will said with a grin, taking a sip of his sherry. "For the next few days, I’ll need you to put in some extra effort. Try to figure out if there’s a winter island nearby."
He gestured toward the twenty doctors standing nearby. "If you need any help, just order those guys around."
"And if we can’t find it, no big deal. We’ll just head to Alabasta first. There’s bound to be a way to get to Drum Island from there."
"Got it," Nami nodded slightly.
Without hesitation, she took charge like a seasoned leader, directing the twenty doctors to assist with the tasks at hand.
And so, the group sailed past the abandoned iron ship, continuing their journey in a new direction.
For the first two days, they found no trace of a winter island. Growing bored, Will decided to try his luck with a ten-pull draw, resulting in yet another new skill.
[Demon Back Muscles: When activated, the muscles in your back transform into a form resembling a ’demon,’ unleashing the full potential of your physical strength and significantly enhancing your bodily functions.]
This skill, unlike others, relied entirely on his own body rather than external tools. After acquiring it, Will tested it in secret, and the results left him thoroughly satisfied. It provided a comprehensive boost to his overall strength, much like his [Explosive Clothes Amplification], another versatile burst skill.
However, after the draw, the purity points he’d accumulated from previous battles had dwindled to just 4,000.
The crew continued their search for the winter island in the surrounding waters. It wasn’t until the morning of the fourth day, when their ship entered an area where the temperature plummeted sharply, that Nami began to sense a shift in the climate. The air around them seemed to stabilize gradually.
Closing her eyes, she focused intently, using her skin to detect subtle changes in the surrounding temperature. Moments later, she opened her eyes and swiftly determined the direction they should head, decisively ordering the twenty doctors to adjust the ship’s course.
Half an hour later, Vivi, bundled in a thick coat, stood at the ship’s edge, carefully observing the sea and sky. She couldn’t help but exclaim, "The weather here has been so calm. There’s a good chance an island is nearby. And with this freezing temperature, it’s likely a winter island!"
She turned to Nami, her expression a mix of curiosity and confusion. She couldn’t fathom how Nami had pinpointed the island’s location from such a distance.
Noticing Vivi’s puzzled look, Will’s lips curled into a slight smile. "Don’t overthink it. It’s just Nami’s natural talent."
With that, he turned and issued a command. "Nami, since we’re sure there’s a winter island nearby, let’s head there at full speed and check it out."
"Aye, aye!" Nami replied with a confident nod and a grin.
The twenty doctors, hearing this, felt a surge of enthusiasm and eagerly began adjusting the ship’s course.
Before long, a snowy coastline came into view in the distance. Gradually, several massive, cylindrical mountains emerged faintly from the icy landscape, creating a striking and peculiar sight.
As the ship drew closer, the towering mountains loomed even larger.
"We actually found it! That’s Drum Island! The Drum Kingdom is right there!" one of the doctors shouted, unable to contain their excitement. The group buzzed with enthusiasm.
"Those mountains are so strange..." Kalifa murmured, staring at the scene in awe.
Nami and the others gazed upward, their faces reflecting similar wonder.
"Drum Island... Chopper..." Will thought to himself, his eyes fixed on the majestic, unique peaks. The image of the blue-nosed reindeer who’d transform into a monster for his friends left a deep impression on him.
While the crew was momentarily distracted, the ship drew closer to the coastline.
But just then, a group of heavily clothed figures, clutching rifles, burst out from the nearby forest. They quickly formed a defensive line along the shore, raising their weapons and eyeing Will’s crew with wary vigilance.
At the center of the group stood a burly man, his sharp gaze carefully scanning the ship.
The sight didn’t faze Will or Vivi, but it sent a wave of panic through the twenty doctors. Having witnessed the brutal deaths of countless kingdom guards, they didn’t hesitate. Rushing to the front to shield Will and the others, they shouted in unison, their voices filled with urgency:
"Stop!"
"Captain Dalton!"
"Don’t shoot!"
"It’s us!"
Hearing the chaotic cries from the ship, the armed group hesitated, their rifles wavering.
Will remained silent, calmly observing the scene.
"Hold your fire!" the burly man bellowed, his face lighting up with surprise as he recognized the twenty doctors. He raised a hand to stop his men.
As the group lowered their weapons, he demanded, his tone stern and uncertain, "The Twenty Doctors?! What are you doing here?"
His gaze then shifted to Will, the man on the ship exuding an overwhelming presence. "What’s your connection to Wapol?"
At the mention of that name, the faces of those around Dalton darkened. Some instinctively raised their rifles again.
But in that moment, Will vanished from the ship.
The next second, Dalton felt a heavy pressure on his shoulder.
Will, now standing on the shore, rested a hand lightly on the green-clad man’s shoulder. In a calm, steady voice, he said, "No need to worry. That piece of trash is already at the bottom of the sea. You’ll never have to deal with him again."
