Chapter 376: Chapter 359: I’ll Accept the Scolding for Doting on My Wife_2

"Okay." Leng Yan responded, smiling as he put the phone away.

Remembering Wen Nuan’s advice, Leng Yan found a store and ate a bowl of noodles unhurriedly, with a smile in his eyes. Just like before, she sat across from him, chattering incessantly, "Eat slowly, gobbling food is bad for your stomach... Hmm, that’s better, Yan, take good care of yourself..."

It wasn’t until he finished his meal cleanly that he left and started the car.

From here to the scenic spot Wen Nuan mentioned, he could get there easily before sunset.

As he was almost there, a light rain began to fall. Fortunately, he had already passed the winding mountain road. With a heart full of laughter, Leng Yan felt the drizzle and experienced even more joy.

He parked the car in front of the inn where Wen Nuan was staying and climbed the wooden stairs. Standing at the far left of the second-floor corridor, he watched the girl gazing at the rain with a dreamy look, feeling the urge to rush over and hug her immediately.

He held back and hid at the stairwell, taking out his phone.

Though this place is somewhat remote, there is fortunately a network. Tong Xi was in the room video chatting with her parents about her itinerary, sharing pretty pictures with them. After greeting Tong Xi’s parents, Wen Nuan stood by the railing, watching the drizzling rain, feeling the silent night, a trace of melancholy lifting at the corners of her lips.

She missed him, missed him so much, yet she just couldn’t see him.

"Nuannuan, aren’t you coming inside?" Tong Xi called to her from the room.

"The rainy nights here are really beautiful. Xixi, do you think it’s raining in T City?" Wen Nuan didn’t turn around, stretching her hand into the rain, trying to catch the raindrops.

"If you miss someone, just say so. No need to bring the weather into it." Tong Xi teased her while drying her hair, "Nuannuan, are you accompanying me on this trip? Clearly, it’s I who is accompanying you as you miss Leng Yan."

Wen Nuan deliberately raised her eyebrows, smiling to provoke her, "Then you should quickly find someone, and I will accompany you in longing."

"I’d like to find someone, but I’m afraid he won’t like me." Tong Xi pouted, feeling a bit sad.

Just then, Wen Nuan’s phone rang. She glanced at it and handed it over with a mischievous grin, "Nuannuan, it’s your husband; he must be unable to bear the loneliness."

"Get lost! Can’t you speak normally?" Wen Nuan took the phone, joy glowing on her face.

"Nuannuan, what are you doing?" Leng Yan’s voice came through, making Wen Nuan freeze for a moment. For some reason, she felt the voice was particularly close. Subconsciously, she looked around, then bitterly smiled.

She had missed Leng Yan to the point of imagination, always hoping he would give her an unexpected surprise, suddenly appearing in front of her. But how could that be possible? Sigh, Leng Yan had called her, saying he was accompanying the old man for a physical check-up.

Sighing, she continued to gaze at the raindrops, speaking softly into the phone, "I’m watching the rain, Yan, is it raining in T City?"

"I don’t know."

"Don’t know?" Wen Nuan raised her eyebrows in astonishment, "How can you not know?"

Leng Yan held back laughter, not answering her question, only mysteriously telling her, "Nuannuan, I have a gift for you, please sign for it later."

"A gift?" Wen Nuan opened her eyes wide, "You can’t be serious?"

She didn’t believe Leng Yan was lying, but honestly, the only gift she wanted now was him.

"Come to the stairwell." Leng Yan leaned against the stair railing, hung up the call, and waited for her arrival, a surge of unexplainable excitement in his heart.

"Yan?" Wen Nuan’s heartbeat paused for an instant. Seeing Leng Yan looking at her gently, she took a moment to react. She exclaimed, joy overflowing in her eyes, "Is it really you? Am I dreaming?"

"Wife, are you satisfied with the gift I wrapped and delivered?" Crossing the steps, Leng Yan opened his arms to her, holding her tightly, kissing her forehead, "Do you like it?"

"I like it, I like it very much." Wen Nuan wrapped her arms around Leng Yan’s waist, her eyes reddening. She leaned fully into his embrace, deeply inhaling his scent, wanting to prove she wasn’t dreaming.

She smiled, her red eyes sparkling, "I thought you were teasing me, but didn’t expect it to be true. Yan, weren’t you going to accompany dad for a check-up? How did that go, and when are you going to have yours?"

"Dad and I had a thorough check-up with Dr. Ma on our stomachs, and it’ll be a few days before we get the results." Leng Yan wearily pinched her nose, "Nuannuan, hubby is tired. Can we rest a bit before I answer your questions?"

"Tong Xi is inside." Wen Nuan playfully blinked, "Aren’t you afraid she’ll scold you?"

She could bet that most of the scoldings Leng Yan received in his life came from Tong Xi.

"I’m afraid." Leng Yan nodded honestly, but with a heroic demeanor, "But she’s my wife’s best friend, and she scolds me because she cares for my wife. I must accept it."

"At least you have some conscience." Tong Xi’s voice came from the doorway. She stood with her arms crossed over her knees, looking on with amusement.

"Tong Xi." Leng Yan wrapped an arm around Wen Nuan’s shoulder, nodding sincerely at Tong Xi, "Thank you for taking care of Wen Nuan."

"I’m not interested in your gratitude, Wen Nuan is my good friend, taking care of her is nothing to do with you!" Tong Xi still wouldn’t let up with her words, but seeing his genuine love for Wen Nuan, her tone wasn’t as harsh as before.

After all, he’s the man her best friend loves the most, and she truly hoped for the best for both of them.

"Sister Ji, did you have a nightmare again?"

In Ji Wei’s room, Xiao Liu hurriedly pushed open the door and sat at the bedside, looking at Ji Wei, who was still frightened and clutching her blanket.

Since that day when the ultrasound results came out, it’s been several days in a row now, Ji Wei would have dreams in the middle of the night, where she’d scream, "Don’t come over!" and then wake up covered in cold sweat.

When she asked Ji Wei what the dreams were about, she vaguely said "nightmares," but as for the dream content, Ji Wei didn’t want to elaborate, nor did Xiao Liu dare to ask further.

Because of this, Xiao Liu didn’t dare to close the room door, afraid she couldn’t get there in time. Today, Ji Wei was asleep by eight o’clock, and after just over an hour, while Xiao Liu was watching TV in the living room, there came a scream.
