Chapter 381: Chapter 364: Wen Nuan is Pregnant
In the season when the hibiscus blooms, Wen Nuan stopped at a small town a hundred miles from T City. Although located in the north, it had the distinctive charm of a Jiangnan Town, gracefully natural.
She wanted to see the beautiful scenery here, but when the taxi passed the station, she couldn’t help but stop and walk into this small station.
Looking at the bus to T City, she felt an indescribable feeling in her heart, both joy and a slight bitterness.
Having a home she couldn’t return to, she instead felt like a "mistress" who couldn’t see the light of day.
Shaking her head in frustration, she took a deep breath and told herself to persevere. Just like the language of the hibiscus flower, understanding love and then gently persisting, ups and downs are inevitable, but the faith in love remains unchanged. Persevere a few more days, and she will eventually be greeted with something beautiful.
When she stood up from the bench at the station, Wen Nuan suddenly blacked out and fell onto the seat.
"Miss, what’s wrong?"
A voice came to her faintly, and she tried hard to open her eyes, but it was in vain.
When Wen Nuan woke up, she was in a room surrounded by white, the smell of disinfectant invading her nose and mouth, startling her as she sat up.
Hospital?
Judging by the room’s furnishings, it should be a small hospital. She rubbed her temples in surprise, trying to figure out what was going on, her thoughts abruptly stopping at the moment she heard someone call her as she was dizzy.
Just as she was wondering, there was a gentle knock on the door. A slightly plump woman in her forties entered, looking at her with a gentle smile: "Awake?"
"Mm." Wen Nuan nodded with a smile, looking at her: "Did I faint and was brought in here? Doctor, is there anything wrong with me?"
"Your blood sugar is a bit low," the doctor said gently, her voice carrying a slight reprimand: "Being pregnant, you must be more careful. Avoid crowded places when possible, and pay attention to nutrition. Your blood sugar..."
She seemed to be about to say a lot, but Wen Nuan only heard the first sentence. First, unsure of where to place her hands, then excitedly throwing aside the quilt to get up, she tightly grasped the doctor’s hand, unable to hide the joy in her eyes: "What did you say? I’m pregnant?"
"Yes." The doctor nodded slightly startled, looking at her with a strange gaze: "You didn’t know?"
"I didn’t know," Wen Nuan shook her head, the smile on her face growing more intense, her heart about to jump with excitement, held back by the doctor: "Be careful if you’re pregnant!"
"Yes, yes." Wen Nuan responded hurriedly, still uncertain: "Is it true? There’s no possibility of a misdiagnosis, right?"
"The blood test confirms it. If you still want to be sure, you can buy a few early pregnancy test strips and test them tomorrow morning."
"Thank you, doctor." Wen Nuan smiled happily, went to buy the test strips, and walked out through the courtyard of the town hospital.
A breeze blew by, scattering a tree full of white flowers, some petals falling on her clothes. Also happy, she picked them up to smell, fragrant, she felt like she might just fly away in joy.
Pregnant...
Haha, this is really good news. She thought Leng Yan would be even happier if he knew. Sitting on a bench, she deliberately kept the dialed number away from her belly and then couldn’t help but laugh.
Although knowing that now it’s too small to take shape, she couldn’t resist wanting to cautiously protect him/her. The phone has radiation; it should be used less in the future. There are also other things to note; the doctor said not to jump or hop, all carefully noted down.

"Young Master Leng, I’ll call you once the results are out," a lowered voice told Leng Yan as he came out of the consulting room. He nodded, his eyes shining with a frosty glimmer as he watched Ji Wei and Xiao Liu’s backs in front of him.
"Yan, hurry up," Ji Wei turned back, gently calling him.
Today she wore a very loose beige long sweater, no makeup, her eyes still covered by the latest style of sunglasses. To avoid being noticed and for hospital cleanliness reasons, she also wore a mask. Plus her belly, it was hard to associate her with the Queen of Heaven, Ji Wei.
"Alright." Taking a deep breath, Leng Yan strode over, smiling softly at Ji Wei: "What did the doctor say?"
"The doctor said everything is good," Ji Wei replied with a smile, remembering the earlier pain, she slightly frowned: "Yan, I felt something was off just now."
"Hmm?" Leng Yan was startled for a moment: "What’s wrong?"
"I felt a sudden pain, like being pricked with a needle. Yan, the doctor wouldn’t have given me an injection, would they?"
"How could that be?" Leng Yan gently replied, "It’s probably just your imagination. Ji Wei, I really think you should see a psychologist; always being suspicious like this isn’t good."
"Yes, Sister Ji, why don’t we take a look?" Xiao Liu nodded immediately, agreeing as Leng Yan said so: "Even though you haven’t had nightmares lately, Sister Ji, your mental state still doesn’t seem well to me."
Xiao Liu truly felt Ji Wei’s mental health wasn’t quite right, sometimes staring at her belly for a long time, even biting her lip at times.
It’s been four months; a woman should show maternal love, but she hadn’t seen much of that from Ji Wei.
More often, she would ponder if Leng Yan was only with her for the child.
"I’m not sick, why see a psychologist?" Ji Wei’s face turned slightly gloomy, glaring at Xiao Liu to warn her to speak less. Turning back to Leng Yan, her eyes once again soft: "Yan, will you accompany me this afternoon? Let’s go shopping for some baby supplies. Yesterday at the mall, I saw many expectant parents preparing together."
"This afternoon?" Leng Yan slightly furrowed his brows: "It’ll be really busy at the company, and I still have to come to the hospital to get the diagnostic result. There’s not much time."
"Alright then." Ji Wei tightly frowned, sighed with grievance, wanting to say something but eventually swallowed it back, her mind filled with doubts.
Ji Wei was just about to open the front passenger’s door when Leng Yan opened the rear door: "Sit in the back, for the good of you and the baby. It’s not good to fasten the seatbelt at four months."
"Alright." Ji Wei’s brows furrowed slightly, yet she obediently sat down, watching Leng Yan put down his phone, a glimpse of an elusive light behind his large sunglasses.
She bit her lip, glancing at the food stalls opposite the hospital: "Yan, I want some skewers."
"I’ll go buy it right away." Hearing Ji Wei say this, Xiao Liu hurriedly left the car, her hand being firmly clutched by Ji Wei. Unsure, she opened her mouth, her wrist pinched by Ji Wei, she held back her words in time.
Ji Wei looked at Leng Yan with anticipation: "Yan, could you go buy it for me? I don’t like spicy food, and Xiao Liu often forgets. I also want some stinky tofu skewers, with the same taste as back in college."
University days...
Heh!
Ji Wei, are you still the same as in college?
Leng Yan’s lips twisted into a self-mocking smile, his fingers tightly clenched for a moment.
"Yan, hurry and go, okay?" Seeing him not moving, Ji Wei pouted as if about to cry: "No time to accompany me shopping, no time to buy something either?"
Leng Yan was nauseated by this coy voice, coldly mentioned he would go, and got out of the car.
Only then did Xiao Liu anxiously say: "Sister Ji, when did I ever buy you spicy ones? I always buy according to your taste, and Leng Shao said if I don’t do it well, my salary would be docked..."
"I’ll make up for it!"
Not pleased, Ji Wei glared at Xiao Liu, reaching over to pick up Leng Yan’s phone.
She always felt something was off. Although Leng Yan repeatedly assured her he didn’t bring her back just for the child, the fact he didn’t stay overnight with her kept her suspicions growing. She had tried several times to check his phone but couldn’t, which is why she did this today, pretending Xiao Liu bought the wrong items to get him to personally go.
Through the car window, she saw Leng Yan stop at a small food stall. Slightly relieved, she carefully unlocked the phone; she’d specially watched the movements of Leng Yan when he input the password, and after several tries, she finally got it open. She opened the call log, and seeing no number belonging to Wen Nuan, felt relieved, just about to put it down when the phone suddenly rang.
A strange number was displayed on the screen, Leng Yan’s phone showing the location, and when she saw it came from E City, the tension returned to her heart.
"Yan, answer it quickly!"
Wen Nuan sat on the bench, the smile on her pretty face slightly faded as she anxiously waited for Leng Yan to pick up the phone and then tell him the tremendous news that he was going to be a father. But after two calls, no one answered.
Didn’t bring it with him?
Slightly furrowing her brows, Wen Nuan hung up the call. After leaving the courtyard, she still wanted to share, flipping through her phone book, she found his office number, smiling, she pressed the button.
A sweet voice from Leng Yan’s secretary told her politely that Leng Yan was not in.
"Where did he go?" Wen Nuan asked, feeling a bit disappointed.
The secretary smiled: "I don’t know either. He came in the morning, gave some instructions, and then left. May I ask who you are? I can have Second Young Master call you back when he returns."
"No need." She believed Leng Yan would call back after seeing the missed call. Moreover, it’s not good to say it now, fearing that the result might be a misdiagnosis. She would use the test strip tomorrow and then tell him the result, avoiding a vain delight.
After hanging up, a trace of self-deprecation flashed across Wen Nuan’s eyes.
Who is she?
This identity troubled her for the second time now, leaving her unsure of how to explain herself.
Taking a deep breath, recalling the doctor’s confident words, the smile once again spread across Wen Nuan’s face.
No worries, soon she wouldn’t be troubled by this question anymore. Leng Yan is coming to pick her up soon, and she will tell him that this time he’s not only picking up his wife, but also the mother of his child.
**
Ji Wei’s eyes were tightly locked on this number, her heart filled with thousands of doubts, waiting for it not to call again. When she looked through the call log, she found that this number had frequent contact with Leng Yan. Frowning her brows, she opened the messages, and at that moment, her entire body’s blood turned cold, her fingers uncontrollably trembling, anger boiling in her heart. The hand holding the phone gripped tighter and tighter; she really wanted to crush the woman in the photos with just one move.
