Chapter 227 Inside Story of the Car Accident

"Langyan" arrived at the scene before the ambulance.

The car Qin Ningyi had moved was specially modified, and with his final maneuver, he avoided a head-on collision with the large truck.

When Langyan's people pried open the car door, Qin Ningyi's hand was still tightly gripping Huo Rou's seatbelt.

The angle of impact from the crash had significantly reduced the force, and Huo Rou's side was not heavily affected.

They carefully extricated the individuals from the car and administered emergency first aid.

Another team went to the large truck.

The truck had completely overturned, and the driver was covered in blood, a strong smell of alcohol wafting out as soon as the door was opened.

As they pulled the driver out of the truck, the hospital ambulance also arrived.

The team exchanged glances and followed.

"Who are you?" the doctor asked, confused, as he watched the group while the patient was being loaded onto the ambulance.

"We know a bit about first aid. We'll only be at ease once he wakes up."

The doctor was surprised to find people who were both willing to help and thorough in their responsibility. He recalled a past incident where, after he had helped call an ambulance, the rescued person had cursed him and demanded he pay the medical fees. Even he would hesitate to step forward in such a situation now. These people had not only offered assistance but also wanted to accompany the patient out of concern. He was touched, "Only one person can go."

One of them, with a simple and honest demeanor, raised his hand and got into the ambulance with the doctor.

At the hospital.

Huo Rou woke up to the strong smell of disinfectant.

Opening her eyes, she saw a white ceiling.

She raised a hand to rub her aching head, and memories flashed through her mind: Qin Ningyi's steering wheel shaking as she opened her eyes in the car, and his gentle reassurances echoing in her ears.

Qin Ningyi!

She sat up abruptly. A familiar female voice called out from beside her, "Sister Huo, you can't get up yet!"

"Sitong?" Huo Rou looked at Shen Sitong's flushed face, a little puzzled. "Why are you here? Where is Qin Ningyi?"

Shen Sitong’s gaze flickered. How could she admit that she had been taking daily walks nearby hoping to run into Doctor Shen, and had accidentally seen Huo Rou being brought in by paramedics from the ambulance?

She smiled sheepishly, not answering the question, and only relayed Qin Ningyi's condition. "President Qin is more seriously injured. It seems he's undergoing surgery. His friends are keeping watch."

"I'll go see him," Huo Rou said, her head pounding, a sense of urgency in her heart.

Shen Sitong, however, insisted she stay in bed. "Doctor Shen said you need complete rest, and we'll talk after he examines you."

Shen Wuyou had been in Taichuan City yesterday. Who knew when he would arrive here? Huo Rou had lost her patience.

She threw off the covers and got out of bed.

"Sister Huo!" Shen Sitong didn't know if Huo Rou had any other injuries. After washing Huo Rou's face and removing her makeup, her pale complexion was frightening.

Facing the extremely pale Huo Rou, Shen Sitong dared not touch her, fearing she might aggravate unseen injuries.

Unable to dissuade her, she found a wheelchair and pushed Huo Rou over.

Outside the operating room, Zhao Hengyu was waiting, with Langyan's men reporting the situation around him.

The driver had indeed been drinking, explaining the loss of control. His identity was that of an ordinary truck driver, and he had never met Qin Ningyi.

Everything seemed to be an accident.

At this moment, Zhao Hengyu's usual nonchalant expression was replaced by a stern frown.

Something was wrong. If it were truly an accident, Qin Ningyi wouldn't have pressed that emergency call button!

"Investigate further. There must be something fishy!"

He trusted Qin Ningyi's judgment; there was definitely something suspicious about this matter.

"Assign more people to keep a close watch on the driver. We can't let him die accidentally..."

As he spoke, he caught sight of Huo Rou out of the corner of his eye, paused, and waved for the Langyan personnel to leave.

He then put on a smile and approached her, "Sister-in-law, you're awake?"

"How is Qin Ningyi?" she asked, looking at the closed operating room door, her heart filled with panic.

On her way over, she had been pondering if this incident might be...

Huo Rou stopped him.

"If there wasn't any inside story, you wouldn't have arrived so quickly," she said, presenting her analysis. "Ningyi didn't call anyone, and according to this report, he wasn't conscious at any point in between. How did you get here so fast?"

Zhao Hengyu's mind raced, trying to figure out how to best deflect.

"I..."

Before he could offer an excuse, Huo Rou spoke calmly, "He pressed that button to contact you in an emergency, didn't he?"
