Chapter 5 An An Who Understands Flowers

Upon reaching the doorway, Xiao Konglin heard the words and looked at An'an in disbelief, then at their CEO.

No way, what was he hearing again? From the village? The CEO met some little girl in the village?

Seeing Xiao Konglin's increasingly strange gaze, Qin Ningyi coughed heavily. Xiao Konglin snapped back to attention and finished what he was about to say, "President Qin, the old lady said to have Doctor Wang come over to collect a sample for a paternity test, which would be more reliable. If the child is taken back, the family can raise him if no one wants him."

Upon hearing the words "no one wants him," An'an immediately protested, "Mom is just helping out, she'll be back."

Qin Ningyi cast him a glance. Xiao Konglin realized he had used the wrong words and apologized to An'an before letting Doctor Wang collect the hair.

An'an watched nervously but also with anticipation as his hair was placed into the small vial. He secretly prayed that this father was a good one, and that An'an would surely be his son!

After Doctor Wang left, Xiao Konglin discussed the afternoon schedule with Qin Ningyi.

There was a meeting in the afternoon. Qin Ningyi glanced at An'an and leaned in slightly to explain, "I have a meeting, and it might take a long time. Shall I have Aunt Liu come up to keep you company?"

An'an nodded understandingly, "Dad, you go ahead and work. I'll read by myself. Can I wander around this floor?"

"Yes, you can play anywhere on this floor. I don't have children's books here. If you want to read, I'll have Sister Liu buy some for you." Qin Ningyi sat down at his desk and was about to pick up the office phone to call Sister Liu when An'an quickly stopped him.

"No, no need. Dad, can I read the books you've read?" An'an's gaze fell on Qin Ningyi's bookshelf with a hint of longing.

Xiao Konglin smiled and explained to him, "An'an, these books are for adults. They're very dry and difficult to understand."

"I want to read them. Mom lets me read all her books, so why can't I read Dad's?" An'an was very confused. He could read all the books at home, and it was precisely because he read his mother's programming books that he was able to crack the password and find his father.

Qin Ningyi suddenly felt a sense of competition. An'an kept mentioning how great his mother was, and he didn't want to lose to her.

"Then feel free to read them. If you don't understand something, you can switch to another book. Grandma Lu will be here to clean later, and she can help you if you can't reach a book." Qin Ningyi granted An'an's request and, looking at An'an's satisfied smile, couldn't help but ruffle his head again.

"Dad, why do you like to rub An'an's head like Mom?" An'an was very happy to be so close to his father, but this gesture was really, "An'an is not Kamikaze."

"Who is Kamikaze?" Qin Ningyi smiled, removed his hand, and opened the documents for the meeting, asking as he read.

Speaking of Kamikaze, An'an was very proud, "Kamikaze is the most powerful dog in the world. Mom says Kamikaze has helped many people."

Three sentences out of his mouth were about his mother. Qin Ningyi found himself becoming a little curious about this mother he spoke of.

Seeing Qin Ningyi open the documents, Xiao Konglin quickly took over the task of chatting with An'an, "Then why didn't An'an bring Kamikaze out with you?"

"Kamikaze has to guard the house. Everyone is afraid of Kamikaze. As long as Kamikaze is home, no one dares to steal anything."

An'an told Xiao Konglin many heroic stories about Kamikaze until Qin Ningyi was about to take Xiao Konglin to the meeting, at which point he stopped talking.

"Be good, I'll finish the meeting as soon as possible and come back," Qin Ningyi promised An'an before leaving.

An'an stood at the door waving goodbye to him. After Qin Ningyi left, An'an, as he had said, went to get books from the wall to read.

When Grandma Lu came in, she saw a well-behaved and cute child sitting at the desk, holding a small Xinhua dictionary in his left hand and flipping through a book with President Qin's notes in his right. He was reading with extreme concentration.

She had been instructed by President Qin and thought it was just some mischievous brat from home, but who knew it was such a well-behaved child.

Her heart was instantly filled with the word "fondness."

"An'an." She walked over.

An'an turned and saw the grandmother holding a rag and a watering can. Remembering his father's words, he greeted her obediently, "Hello, Grandma Lu!"

What a good child!

Grandma Lu quickly began to clean, so she could play with An'an for a while afterward.

An'an got along very well with Grandma Lu, while the atmosphere in the meeting room was also strangely harmonious.

"President Qin... here, we... we still need to prepare a bit more, so..." The manager nervously chose his words. Although this scolding was unavoidable, he could still struggle a bit.

"Alright. I want to see the complete plan in three days. Next."

The manager's sweat instantly froze on his forehead. What was wrong with President Qin today? He was so accommodating? The supervisor secretly glanced at Assistant Xiao's expression and quickly sat down.

This meeting proceeded exceptionally smoothly and ended harmoniously and early.

Walking behind, the manager tugged at the lagging Xiao Konglin, "Assistant Xiao, what's wrong with the President today? Why is his temper so good?"

Xiao Konglin gave him a meaningful smile, "You should hope for it. Wouldn't it be better if days like this continued?"

"It would be better, but it's creepy."

Xiao Konglin hurried to catch up with Qin Ningyi. Qin Ningyi, rushing back to the office, heard An'an's soft voice at the doorway.

"No, Grandma Lu. This flower doesn't need so much water, and the sunlight here is too strong. Look, its leaves are all listless."

"You're right! Then how should I care for this flower?" Grandma Lu realized with enlightenment and humbly asked for advice.

"This flower needs to be moved near the window, by the bookshelf would be good. It can block some of the sun, but it will still get plenty of morning light. You don't need to water it every day. It's not that hot here with the air conditioning on, so watering it every two to three days is better."

"Okay. Grandma will try it! An'an, why do you know so much?"

"Hehe, I learned it all from Mom. Mom is super good at growing flowers!" An'an was a bit embarrassed by the praise and chuckled.

Qin Ningyi walked in and watched the two of them gathered around the pot of flowers by the window, one speaking earnestly, the other listening attentively.

A sense of pride arose in his heart. This child was truly intelligent, speaking in an organized manner at such a young age. Regardless of whether what he said was correct, being able to articulate his points was already very impressive.

Qin Ningyi generously gave An'an a smile, "Quite impressive."

In the serene sunset, golden light streamed into the office, casting a glow upon An'an. An'an's eyes sparkled, looking directly into his heart.

"Dad!" An'an became noticeably more lively. He could clearly feel the change in Qin Ningyi's attitude. He pounced forward and grabbed Qin Ningyi's large hand.

Grandma Lu froze at the sound of that address. Xiao Konglin escorted her out.

"Are we going home?"

"Yes, I'll take you home." Qin Ningyi held An'an's hand, thinking that perhaps leaving work on time wasn't so bad.
