Chapter 33: Chapter 33 : Gamer Rules Another World [2]

The room went quiet. Every eye found Jax.

They rolled footage of the screening match—Zinnia’s face twisted with anger as she stormed off after losing.

Jax leaned into the mic, calm. "A bet’s a bet. Miss Reed knows the terms. I’m sure she’ll honor them."

The crowd reacted with a mix of laughter and gasps. Someone whistled.

The announcer pushed. "And when will this... arrangement take place?"

Jax let the moment stretch, then smiled. "Soon. Very soon. But I’m in no rush. Good things take time."

Noise swelled again. Questions and flashes filled the air. In the VIP section above, Paige Rayne watched without showing her feelings. An assistant whispered to her, and she waved him off.

The announcer signaled for quiet. "Well, there you have it, folks! Jax Rayne, ever the enigma! Now, let’s present the trophy!"

Ava and Jax stepped up. The pedestal rose with a hiss, lifting the trophy into their hands. It felt heavier than it looked—solid and cold.

The holo-screens flashed CHAMPIONS again.

Ava let go and Jax held the trophy with one hand, steady and casual. He planted the pose like someone used to the spotlight.

It was like he has lifted the trophy more than thousand times

[A/n: He had done more than that]

He was like a lion in the forest.

Confetti popped and neon flakes fell. Music blared and the crowd roared.

Ava leaned close so only he could hear. "You really know how to make a scene, don’t you?"

He grinned. "It’s a gift."

She shook her head but smiled. "Come on. We’ve got press to deal with."

They moved off the stage into a swarm of reporters. Questions came fast.

"Jax! How did you come up with the oscillation technique?"

"Ava! Is it true you designed the entire car alone?"

"Jax! What’s next for you?"

Ava took the technical hits and explained their strategy with clarity. Reporters lapped it up.

Then one voice cut through, sharp. "Mr. Rayne! About Zinnia Reed—do you have any comments on her current state?"

A woman in a suit held a recorder up. "Her current state?" Jax repeated.

"She hasn’t attended any conference since the race. Some students are saying she’s... struggling. Do you feel any responsibility for that?"

The crowd waited.

Jax kept his expression neutral. "Miss Reed is a strong competitor. I’m sure she’s handling things in her own way. Beyond that, it’s not my place to comment."

The reporter pushed further, but Ava stepped up, voice cold. "I think this interview is over. Thank you."

She grabbed Jax’s arm and steered him out while security closed ranks. Reporters shouted but security held them off.

Once they were clear Ava exhaled. "That was close. They’re trying to paint you as a villain."

Jax shrugged. "Let them. I’ve been called worse."

"Still." She looked at him like she was weighing something. "You’re handling this well. Better than I expected."

"Why? Did you think I’d crack under pressure?"

"No. I just thought you’d be more... I don’t know. Cocky? But you’re playing it smart. Keeping them guessing."

He smirked. "I told you. I’m just getting started."

They walked out of earshot. Ava lowered her voice. "Jax. About earlier. Where you really were."

He met her eyes. "What about it?"

"I don’t care what you were doing. But... be careful. People are watching you now. More than before. And not all of them are friendly."

He nodded. "I know."

"Good." She stopped and faced him. "Because I don’t want to lose my partner. Not when we’re just getting started."

For a moment the armor slipped and she looked plain and honest. Jax’s smirk softened.

"You won’t lose me, Ava. I’m not that easy to get rid of."

She held his gaze a beat and then nodded. "Good. Now go get cleaned up. You look like you just ran a marathon."

He laughed. "Fair enough."

As he turned she called after him. "Jax."

He looked back.

"Next time? Don’t make me cover for you. I’m not your alibi service."

He answered with a grin. "Noted."

That night Jax crashed onto his dorm bed, worn out. The adrenaline had faded and tiredness hit hard.

His device buzzed. He expected Ava or Kai. The number was unknown.

[Message: Impressive performance tonight. But don’t get too comfortable. The real games haven’t even started yet. - M.V.]

Jax stared at the screen.

’M.V. Morgana Vexley.’

He typed: [Looking forward to it.]

The reply came right away: [Good. I’d hate for you to be boring.]

He put the device down and stared at the ceiling.

’She’s testing me. Watching. Waiting to see what I do next.’

The System interface glowed in the corner, waiting.

[New Notification: Legendary Gacha Spin Available]

He sat up. Tiredness vanished.

’Time to see what I got.’

He focused on the interface. The prompt glowed.

[Legendary Gacha Spin → Activate?]

He tapped.

Light filled the screen. Colors swirled—gold, crimson, electric blue—icons flashing too fast to follow.

Then it stopped. A gift box appeared, wrapped in flames and lightning. It pulsed and then opened.

[Legendary Reward Acquired: Roaring Engine Gift Pack]

Two items appeared, each glowing.

[Reward 1: Stamina Elixir (Infinite Supply)]

[Description: Instantly restores stamina to peak condition. No side effects. One-time use per bottle for a single day. Unlimited quantity available in inventory.]

[Reward 2: Stat Boost – All Attributes +3]

[Description: Permanently increases STA, CHA, RES, TCH, and LCK by 3 points each.]

Jax’s eyes widened.

’Holy shit. Infinite stamina elixirs? That’s... that’s broken. And the stat boost on top of it?’

He thought through the math.

’The elixirs solve my stamina problem forever. No more worrying about running out mid-session. And the stat boost—fifteen total points, permanent, no strings attached.’

He selected the stat boost.

[Stat Boost : All Attributes +3]

[Applying...]

Heat moved through him, intense but not painful. Muscles tightened and eased. Thoughts sharpened. Even his skin felt clearer.

Jax let out a slow breath and flexed his fingers. The change felt small but real. His body moved lighter and his head was clearer.

’Not bad. Not bad at all.’

He leaned back, satisfied, and closed his eyes.

Tomorrow would bring new challenges. New games.

He was ready.
