Chapter 304: Be Brave!
At York City District Hospital...
Dominique rushed to the hospital after his phone call with Ashton. Sasha tried to kill herself and he knew that he was the reason.
The moment he arrived, he ran into Ashton and Melissa who were sitting in the waiting area of the emergency room. The doctor was still treating Sasha.
"How did this happen? What did she do?" Dominique inquired.
Melissa approached Dominique, glaring at him sharply.
"This is your fault, Dominique! You cheated on her and asked her to sign the divorce paper without considering her feelings. Sasha loved you so much. Why can’t you give her even a tiny bit of your affection?" Melissa vented out her frustrations. She was worried sick about her friend.
Meanwhile, Ashton pulled Melissa back, reminding her not to create a scene in the hospital. Then he shifted his gaze back to Dominique, explaining what happened to Sasha.
"She jumped off from the second-floor balcony. She was bleeding a lot when the maid found her. The maid couldn’t contact you so she called me instead."
Dominique frowned upon hearing that.
’Jumping off from the balcony? Is she just trying to get rid of her baby?’ He clenched his fists at that thought.
’She did not spare her baby. She didn’t want me to use her pregnancy as one of the reasons for our divorce.’
"I will not change my mind. I will still divorce her. She can’t threaten me with her life. I just came here because I only consider her as my friend." Dominique’s resolve didn’t waver. He had to end things with Sasha as soon as possible.
Hearing his statement, Melissa became more enraged.
"You are an ungrateful jerk! You just used Sasha and took advantage of her feelings. Now that you find someone new, you plan to discard Sasha like trash. You don’t deserve her love!"
Melissa raised and swung her hand to slap Dominique. However, Dominique blocked her, capturing her wrist.
"Dr. Mel, stop meddling with our personal lives," Dominique spat back at her, releasing her wrist. He didn’t want to argue further with Melissa.
"Stop hurting my friend. If you continue this, I will make you pay!" Melissa threatened him before walking away.
Ashton could only sigh, watching Melissa’s retreating figure. After a while, he invited Dominique to sit down as they waited for Sasha.
"I know Sasha is playing a victim here to make you change your mind. She wants you to pity her," Ashton spoke up, sharing his thoughts.
"I know... But I came here because I’m also worried about her as her friend, not as her husband. I hope you understand that. If you care so much about her, then you have to stay by her side. I can’t be with her, Ashton. You know that."
Ashton fell silent as he looked down. "As much as I want to get her affection, she set her eyes only for you, Dom. I don’t think I have a chance..."
"I’m worried about her baby," he added, changing the topic.
"Timothy is her child’s father... not you Ashton."
Ashton clenched his jaw while folding his fingers into a tight fist. "I know. How I wish the baby was mine."
Dominique didn’t comment further. He could tell that Ashton was in pain right now because of Sasha. He loved her so much but he didn’t have the courage to pursue her.
The two men fell silent for a moment, just sitting there. After a while, Dominique decided to break his silence. Ashton was still his best friend. He was the only person he could talk to right now. A lot of things have happened lately.
"Are you still mad at me?" Dominique asked him.
Ashton shook his head. "No. I shouldn’t blame you. Athena deceived us all. I know she is beautiful. Every man will fall for her allure. But I can’t understand you, Dom. I thought you were still in love with Sabrina. Have you finally moved on?"
Dominique smiled bitterly at the mention of his beloved woman.
"Athena is Sabrina."
Ashton was shocked beyond belief upon hearing that. "I thought she was dead."
Dominique shook his head. Sadness could be seen in his eyes but he was still smiling.
"She came back for revenge. She even changed her face just to deceive us. I couldn’t bring myself to get mad at her. I just feel so happy knowing she is still alive."
Ashton finally understood while Dominique was so in love with Athena– she was Sabrina.
"I regretted not choosing her. Back then, I prioritized my revenge instead of being a good husband to her. I was blinded by my hatred. Now, it’s too late for me to have her back." Dominique began confiding with Ashton.
"Why can’t you start over again with her?" he asked him expectantly.
"If you still love her, you just need to ask for forgiveness and try to make it up with her. She is finally back and you can have a second chance. What is stopping you from doing that?" Ashton encouraged Dominique to follow his heart’s desire.
"I am no longer the man in her heart. She has Vladimir... the man who supported her when I abandoned and betrayed her for my revenge"
"For Sabrina... I’m just her prey... the target of her revenge. I hate to admit it but I am super jealous. Feeling desperate, helpless, and heartbroken. Sabrina is gone... She is now Athena."
Ashton could feel the remorse and pain in Dominique’s voice. His friend was losing hope. He was afraid of losing Athena but he didn’t have the courage to chase and pursue her again. He felt as though he would get rejected instantly without even trying.
"So what’s your plan? Are you just letting her go? Letting her slip away again?" Ashton asked, the crease on his forehead deepening.
Dominique was quiet for a few seconds. Then he gazed at Ashton with a renewed determination.
"You are right. I shouldn’t be afraid. I must try and try. I don’t want to lose her. I don’t want to give her up. I want to be with her. I want her forgiveness. I want to complete my family... Sabrina and I together with our son."
Ashton gasped when he heard that. "What? You have a son with her?! Then you have more reason to fight for her! Go and get your family, Bro! Take them back! Be brave and don’t hesitate!"
