Chapter 432 The Concealment

Yu Jingchen carried Nanzhi Yun back to the temporary palace and summoned the accompanying imperial physicians. Nanzhi Yun was filthy, her face smeared with mud and tear streaks, making it a mess.

Yu Jingchen, who had not seen her clearly in the dark earlier, now felt a surge of anger seeing Nanzhi Yun in such a state. However, this was not the time to "interrogate her"; he would settle the score with this girl later!

"Are you injured anywhere?" Yu Jingchen asked, scanning her carefully. Nanzhi Yun merely shook her head.

"Not injured? Are you feeling unwell anywhere?" Yu Jingchen was still worried.

"I fell just now, and I'm in pain," Nanzhi Yun concealed the fact that she had been bitten by a snake. She felt she had already caused enough trouble today and didn't want to worry Yu Jingchen further.

"Let me see, where did you fall?" Yu Jingchen said, intending to help Nanzhi Yun remove her clothes.

But Nanzhi Yun resisted, backing away. Yu Jingchen frowned, his gaze falling on Nanzhi Yun's hands.

"Hold out your hand," Yu Jingchen's tone grew stern.

Nanzhi Yun bit her lip. "I'm fine, Your Majesty doesn't need to worry." Yu Jingchen's expression turned cold. Disregarding Nanzhi Yun's wishes, he pulled her over.

"Your Majesty!" Nanzhi Yun protested. Yu Jingchen ignored her reluctance, pulling her hand out from behind her. Apart from being dirty, there seemed to be no other issue.

However, just as Yu Jingchen was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he spotted a wound on Nanzhi Yun's wrist. He rolled up her sleeve further and finally saw clearly that it was a snakebite.

"Nanzhi Yun!" Yu Jingchen's voice was sharp this time. Nanzhi Yun flinched in fright. The imperial physician who had just entered was also startled.

"Your Majesty..." Nanzhi Yun tried to pull her hand back, but Yu Jingchen held it tightly, and she couldn't break free.

"Nanzhi Yun, you're something else! You'd hide something like this from me? Why didn't you say you were injured? What would you do if something serious happened?" Yu Jingchen finally couldn't contain his anger.

"I'm fine... this probably isn't poisonous," Nanzhi Yun sounded guilty.

"Yes, you're so capable!" Yu Jingchen released her hand.

"Examine the Imperial Consort," Yu Jingchen turned his back. The imperial physician, not daring to hesitate, quickly stepped forward to take Nanzhi Yun's pulse.

A frost settled on Yu Jingchen's face. Nanzhi Yun sat beside him, timidly glancing up to observe him. Seeing his anger, she felt uneasy.

The imperial physician was also extremely nervous while taking her pulse. If anything were to happen to this Imperial Consort, he would be the one to suffer the consequences. However, after checking her pulse, he breathed a sigh of relief; fortunately, there were no major issues.

"Your Majesty, rest assured, the Consort was merely startled and a bit cold. There are no other problems," the imperial physician replied. Thankfully, there were no complications.

"She was just bitten by a snake. Is it serious?" Yu Jingchen asked again. Although he appeared angry, the worry in his eyes was undeniable.

"Your Majesty, please be assured, the snake was non-venomous, and the Imperial Consort is fine. I will prescribe a calming medicine for her shortly, and have the palace servants prepare two bowls of ginger soup to ward off the cold. That should be sufficient," the imperial physician stated.

"Alright, you may withdraw." Hearing this, Yu Jingchen was finally relieved.
