Jiang Mi woke up on time, which had never happened before. In fact, she and Ling Bo didn't engage in that activity often, maybe once a month. But each time, it left her bedridden for three days. Today, it seemed the string of concern for her daughter finally snapped, forcing herself to wake up.
After getting up, she quietly left the bedroom and took a shower to clear her head. She chose clothes that covered her neck and then went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
Ling Bo also woke up early. He walked over, embraced Jiang Mi from behind, bit her ear, and asked, "You're up today? Seems like I wasn't energetic enough yesterday."
"I want to make breakfast for Mian Mian. My legs are still weak. Please spare me," Jiang Mi turned and gave him a morning kiss.
Ling Bo smiled, patted her, and said, "Then I want to eat too. Make one for me as well."
"Of course," Jiang Mi agreed with a smile.
Ling Bo let go of her and turned to wash up.
Mian Mian was still groggy when her mother called her. She only felt a bit more awake after washing up in the bathroom.
Jiang Mi stood behind her daughter, meticulously brushing her hair. Mian Mian's hair was long and smooth, beautiful like satin. She tied her daughter's hair into two pigtails that hung down to her chest, then clipped on two crystal hairpins she had bought. Seeing her daughter as beautiful as a flower, Jiang Mi felt a surge of happiness.
"Thank you, Mommy. Mommy, I love you so much," Jiang Mianmian hugged her mother back, speaking softly.
"Thank me for what? Little silly," Jiang Mi gently flicked her daughter's forehead.
"Thank you for coming back." Jiang Mianmian was truly grateful that her mother had returned to her side. She felt she had no regrets in this life; her mother was her everything!
"Mian Mian, it's I who should thank you. Alright, go eat breakfast quickly, or you'll be late for school." Jiang Mi didn't want to dwell on emotions. She just wanted her daughter to be happy. As the mother and daughter came out, Ling Bo was already waiting at the dining table. He smiled and greeted Mianmian.
Mianmian greeted him back. After breakfast, Jiang Mi said she would take her daughter to school.
Jiang Jingxiu had called Mianmian early that morning. Mianmian hadn't dared to answer. She called her father back after arriving at school and asked, "Daddy, what's up? Why are you in such a hurry?"
"Did you sleep well yesterday?" Jiang Jingxiu didn't dare to ask his daughter directly and instead beat around the bush.
"Very well. I fell asleep as soon as I lay down and slept until dawn," Jiang Mianmian answered earnestly.
Jiang Jingxiu: "..."
So, his wish for his daughter to keep an eye on Jiang Mi was indeed too naive.
"Did your mother sleep with you?" Jiang Jingxiu asked in a desperate attempt.
"Yes, Mommy slept with me. She stayed with me while I slept," Jiang Mianmian nodded with certainty.
"Then, after you fell asleep, are you sure she didn't go out?"
Jiang Mianmian: "..."
"How would I know? I was already asleep," Mianmian murmured softly, finding her father's question very strange.
"Daddy, what are you afraid of? Why are you so afraid Mom won't sleep with me? Could it be..."
"Alright, go to class quickly. Be good," Jiang Jingxiu hurriedly stopped his daughter from thinking further. If she thought any more, she'd get too close to the truth. He didn't want his daughter to worry about such things with him.
Jiang Mianmian looked at the hung-up phone and shook her head helplessly. Originally, Jiang Mianmian was the campus belle, attracting a lot of attention. Today, even more people were looking at her. Mianmian found it a bit strange.
