Lin Zehan's heart ached as he watched her try to hold back her sorrow. Perhaps only she herself was unaware of how deeply she was suffering; anyone could see she was merely putting on a brave face.
Gu Yunting was truly a beast for hurting such a wonderful girl like Ye Wan!
The siblings went to the hospital to pick up Shen Ziche. After Shen Ziche got into the car, Ye Wan introduced him. Lin Zehan hadn't expected the boy his sister wanted to sponsor to be so good-looking; his face was more captivating than a girl's.
When the three of them arrived at the school, they went directly to the principal's office. The principal received Lin Zehan warmly. After inquiring about Shen Ziche's previous academic performance and learning it was good, he finally felt at ease.
"With the college entrance examination just six months away, I think it would be best to transfer the boy's household registration here. That way, his opportunities will be greater," the principal said to the trio after everything had been settled.
Shen Ziche remained silent throughout. Lin Zehan glanced at the boy his sister intended to sponsor and asked, "Are you willing to have your household registration transferred here?"
Shen Ziche looked at him with disbelief. "But I heard that it's very difficult to get household registration in Jing City, almost impossible."
"You don't need to worry about that. If you're willing, I'll handle it for you." Since it was someone his sister wanted to help, he naturally had to do his best to assist.
"Will it be very troublesome?" Shen Ziche knew it wouldn't be easy. He looked at Ye Wan hesitantly, as if seeking her opinion.
"If my brother says he can do it, then there won't be a problem. Let's do it that way," Ye Wan said. She was also aware of the many conveniences that came with having household registration in Jing City. She had been fortunate enough to get into Jing University largely because of her local registration. If she had been in a province with a highly competitive college entrance exam, she probably wouldn't have been able to get into such a good school.
Only then did Shen Ziche nod.
The principal smiled with satisfaction. Knowing that the boy had good grades and that his household registration could be transferred, he was naturally willing to accept him. This would mean one more student getting into a prestigious university, which would be a feather in his cap.
It was already noon when the three of them left. Lin Zehan took his sister and Shen Ziche for lunch, and after eating, he drove them back.
"Brother, you can drop Shen Ziche and me off at the mall. You go do your own thing," Ye Wan said, knowing Lin Zehan was very busy and not wanting to waste any more of his time.
"What do you need to buy? I'll go with you," Lin Zehan offered. He was quite pleased with Shen Ziche, considering him an honest and sensible boy. His sister hadn't misjudged him.
"I need to buy some things for his start of the semester. I can handle it."
Seeing his sister's demeanor, Lin Zehan didn't insist. She had just broken up with Gu Yunting, and it would be good for her to find something to do to distract herself.
He dropped Ye Wan and Shen Ziche off outside the mall and then drove away. Ye Wan watched her brother's car disappear before turning to Shen Ziche and saying, "Let's go in and buy what you need."
"I don't lack anything," Shen Ziche quickly replied. "I have a quilt; it's at the hospital."
"Let's go in and take a look first," Ye Wan said. She could imagine the quilt he was referring to, likely an old, worn one brought from his hometown. It wasn't that she looked down on such things, but students who could get into such a top school were not ordinary people, and there was no need to attract unnecessary trouble over simple supplies.
Seeing her insistence, Shen Ziche could only follow her inside. He planned to memorize the prices of everything and repay her later.
Ye Wan first took him to look at stationery, buying him a complete set of writing materials and various notebooks he would need.
