Chapter 669 Shy

"I was kicked out of the Jiang family when I was eighteen. I cut ties with you all long ago, and we have no blood relation whatsoever. What kind of niece am I to you?" Even if Jiang Mi had no intention of marrying Jiang Jingxiu, she certainly didn't want any familial connection with him.

She had nothing to do with him!

"Look at you, your wings have certainly hardened. You dare to snap back at us now!" Zhong Xiu said sarcastically. Looking at the injury on her hand, she became even more furious.

"You didn't come all the way here hoping I'd miss you, did you? And you certainly didn't come specifically to lecture me. Spit it out if you have something to say! Once you're done, go back. I don't have time to entertain you!" Jiang Jingxiu truly disliked these people. After his mother's death, he hadn't taken a single cent of the Jiang family's fortune, and Jiang Jingren had no right to dictate his life.

Zhong Xiu started to retort with more sarcasm, but Jiang Jingren stopped her. He, unlike his wife, had a purpose for being there: to get his daughter, Jiang Tian, out. He said, "We came because we want Tian Tian to be released. You're her uncle, you should help. Do you really want to see her go to jail?"

"That's right! When Tian Tian took the child, she didn't know it was your daughter. If she had known, she wouldn't have done it. Ignorance is no crime. She's suffered enough in there for so long," Zhong Xiu also felt for her daughter, vowing to settle the score later.

"She almost killed my daughter. You want me to let her out? Dream on! She can just wait to go to jail!" Jiang Mi had wanted to say these words to this group for a long time. She had nearly caused Mian Mian's death, and they offered no apology, showed no remorse, yet expected her to let it go. Dream on!

"Jingxiu, Tian Tian is your niece, isn't she? Are you going to let an outsider treat her like this? Do you insist on her going to jail?" Jiang Jingren's face darkened, his expression extremely displeased.

"Jiang Mi is right. She almost killed my daughter. She should pay the price!" Jiang Jingxiu said coldly.

Zhong Xiu was about to explode upon hearing this, but she noticed her husband's even more somber expression and didn't dare to say anything.

Jiang Jingren let out a cold laugh. "You really think you can do as you please just because you didn't take any of the inheritance? I recall your mother's grave is still in the Jiang family cemetery! I wouldn't mind turning her into a lonely wandering ghost!"

Jiang Jingxiu almost lost control when she mentioned his mother. Jiang Mi quickly stepped forward to shield him and said, turning her head, "We can discuss this further. You can leave now. Once we've reached a conclusion, we'll give you our answer!"

Jiang Jingren and Zhong Xiu's faces turned green. They had never imagined that the girl they once considered less valuable than an ant would one day dare to yell and scold them! They should have finished her off when she turned eighteen, if only they had known.

Jiang Mi pushed the scowling Jiang Jingxiu into the hospital room and slammed the door shut.

The noise outside had woken Mian Mian. Jiang Mi glanced at her daughter, then quickly pressed her face against Jiang Jingxiu's chest and said, "Don't let Mian Mian see my face."

Jiang Jingxiu immediately understood her intention. He smiled and said, "Mian Mian, Mommy and Daddy are going to kiss. Hurry and cover your eyes, don't peek."

Mian Mian, still groggy from sleep, hadn't clearly seen her mother's face. Hearing this, her chubby little hands quickly covered her eyes and she said, "Mommy and Daddy are being naughty, you'll corrupt the children!"

"No peeking! Go in! We'll come to see you after Mommy and Daddy finish kissing!" Jiang Jingxiu watched with amusement as the little girl's chubby fingers parted, her attempt to peek hilariously evident. All his anger melted away.
